Sustaining Education Reform Gains (SERG)

Testimonial

Baybay National High School

The Sustaining Education Reform Gains (SERG) Project has been a blessing
to our school. It has helped the school’s L&D system to run smoothly.
SERG has strengthened the Teachers Professional Development (TPD).
Thus, Baybay National High School is blessed to be chosen as one of the pilot
schools of the SERG Project.
With the aid of SERG, we were able to establish the L&D GEM (Governance
Enabling Mechanism) which serves as the engine that powers up the L&D System.
To get the most authentic teacher’s data with regards to their learning and
non-learning needs was the task of the LDNA (Learning and Development Needs
Assessment) Team. With the use of the Reflective Thinking Tool, and ILDNA Tool,
we were able to get the topmost priority competencies of our teachers. These are:
1. Strategies for promoting literacy and numeracy
2. Research-based knowledge and principles of teaching and learning
3. Content knowledge and its application within and across curriculum areas
With the aid of the MS Excel, and CLAPS mobile app by Sir Zen Banez, we
were able to analyze and interpret the data more easily.
In this system, we produced the Individual and Group Plans and Reports.
These will serve as the basis for the future trainings for our teachers.
With all the gathered data, the next step was to plan for programs and
interventions that will address the needs of the teachers. It was all documented
through the SPPD (School Plan for Professional Development).
After planning, the team designed a training program, and task analysis. So
that, it will be all ready for the making of resource packages.
The resource package team crafted the Slide Deck Presentations and
Session Guides which will be used for the training.
When the resource packages were already evaluated, the delivery team
conducted the training to the teachers.
Finally, the Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Evaluation Team, monitored,
and conducted a post-evaluation report to improve the future conduct of trainings.
Moreover, Baybay National High School is very grateful to receive Resource
Packages and Booklets about Blended Learning, Creating a Safe Learning
Environment in school and at home, and many more. We also received
Handwashing Facilities from SERG, DFAT and Save the Children Philippines.
Thank you very much for the love.
On behalf of Baybay National High School, we would like to thank the SERG
Technical Adviser, Maya Lyn Banez for the unwavering support who always guide us
to make the project successful.
To mam Frolomea Narra Taniza, our very own TPD coach, sir Marck Suyom,
Division SERG Focal, for being always there to assists and mentor us along the
journey.
…and to all who helped us implement and realize the project successfully in
our school. Maraming salamat po at Mabuhay!
