Introduction

The essay is about…

Core

- What is Global Warming.

- What causes Global Warming.

- Who are most threatened by Global Warming?

- What can we do to fight global warming?

1. What is Global Warming

Global warming is constituted by the absorption of solar energy by the earth. When the

earth warms up, it releases heat into the atmosphere in the form of infrared rays.

However, part of this heat is remitted to the earth’s surface and the consequence is its

overheating.

2. What causes Global Warming

The natural causes that cause global warming are related to natural processes. The

two relevant causes if we talk about contemporary global warming are changes in

volcanic activity and changes in solar radiation, which have contributed to current
3

climate trends with an addition of greenhouse gases some ten times higher since the

Industrial Revolution.

3. Who are most threatened by Global Warming

As a general response of who are the most affected by this problem of climate change

because their relationship with the environment is more direct, they are:

-Fishermen.

-Indigenous.

-Homeless people, that is, people living in poverty. Understanding that we are

privileged to have a roof that protects us from climate change (Dalla Giseli, Serantes

Araceli, Sato Michèle, 2017).

-Coastal populations are the most affected. Mainly those located in some countries of

Northern Europe and Southeast Asia (UNIVISIÓN, 2014).

- Animal species are one of the most threatened. A study by the University of

Connecticut (United States), published in the journal Science, indicates that climate

change is accelerating the sixth extinction, since it will cause, by itself, the

disappearance of almost 8% of current species (Iberdrola, 2022).

4. What can we do to fight global warming?

Joao Camargo, 2018 He tells us that it is not individual work, that we are

all involved in the fight against global warming, Since it is not a person’s
4

fault the consequences we are living today and so that person or a certain

group change their lifestyle the changes in the world would be

insignificant.

One of the recommendations that Joao Camargo makes are the following:

A radical lifestyle change, including sharing a home with 3 people,

never using heating or air conditioning, using electricity only for basic

needs, never travelling by plane or car, always using public transport,

never eat meat, buy local or seasonal products, only buy clothes every 3

or 4 years and not buy packaged products, would reduce emissions to 3

or 4 tons per year.

Therefore, he continues to emphasize that it is a work in which we are

all involved each and every one of us to overcome this problem, he

offers some recommendations on how to start making change.

- Stop all new conventional or unconventional oil, gas and coal

projects, whether presented as "transitional" or with any other mask of

deception. We cannot even begin to solve this problem if there is a

projected increase in emissions in the future.

- Start a revolution in transport, industry, construction and employment

with an energy, agricultural, forestry and food transition.

5

- Adapt territories, cities and rural areas to the climate change that

is already taking place: protect the most vulnerable populations, create

practices and tools for resilience and resilience to the impact of climate

change.

- Ensure that social justice is present in the proposed solutions.

Authoritarian, violent and repressive solutions are always closer than

we think and with climate change worsening, they will gain strength.

The fight against climate change along with social justice is called

Climate Justice, and it is a powerful movement that arises a little all

over the world.
