Dist.- Osmanabad
Stakeholder Discussion:
Date: 4th & 5th June 2021
Place: Project Site Office & Dahiwadi Village

This is the second Focused Group Discussion (FGD) held at the project site/village to understand the
views of local villagers and government officials on the development of a solar power plant as
representatives other than land sellers had shown no interest in the previous two consultations. The
participants included the village sarpanch, his deputy, a member of the local gram panchayat, a
schoolteacher, and a few local farmers.

The consultation was conducted in vernacular language to make it more effective and understood by
all. Intimation for the proposed consultation was given by AMP on-site Asset Manager. The meetings
began by briefing all the participants about the company, which was followed by the process of
electricity generation using Solar Photovoltaic technology. They were further informed about the
project execution, E&S impacts associated with the construction & operation phase, along with the
utilization of local resources by the company during the construction & operation phase. Alongside,
the benefits of the project were also presented before the local stakeholders, including the
importance of the transition to a clean source of energy generation.

Means of information:

Intimation letter submitted to panchayat office dated_ 01 June 2021. Letter has been attached as
annexure-1.

Summary of Discussion:
During the consultation, the Sarpanch informed us that there is a drastic shift from an agriculture-
based economy to a non-agriculture-based economy due to the lack of irrigation facilities and their
dependency on monsoon season only. Overall, the development of the project is seen as an
opportunity for employment generation by the local villagers who were keen on understanding
future developments of solar power plants in the adjoining village.
Most participants were aware that this is a very small facility and hence employment opportunities
are limited. They assured to support upcoming or future developments in their area. However,
demanded to hire youths from the local community for any upcoming projects.
The schoolteacher requested AMP to support community development projects wherein the youths
are provided with e-learning facilities and skill development opportunities. Other key areas for
development activities identified included the strengthening of medical infrastructure.

Some of the key questions and their replies are presented below.
1. Will locals be preferred for employment?
(Asked by Prashant Gate- Sarpanch)
Reply- YES.
However, the plant capacity is small, and therefore the requirement of manpower is also less and
there are few local villagers employed by AMP for site operations.
2. Will there be any activity which will pollute our village area?
(Asked by Samadhan Gate- School Teacher)
Reply- NO.
The generation of electricity using photovoltaic solar panels is based on the natural sunlight and
there are no associated emissions, and no pollutants are released from the plant activities.
Moreover, the operation of the solar power plant does not cause any incremental increase in noise
levels.
3. Can we use direct electricity from your substation at less rate?
(Asked by Bandhu Gate- Farmer)
