Cut out the Fabric
Draw the patterns directly onto the wrong side of a single layer of fabric. Because there is a right and left
shoe you will need to reverse the sole and upper pattern when tracing. Make sure the right and left pieces
are separated to avoid confusion when attaching the soles. Cut out the exterior, lining, and interfacing.
Fuse the interfacing on the wrong side of the exterior following the manufacturer’s guide.

Pin around the rest of the sole, clip the seam as
needed. Sew the sole, leaving a 2 ½” gap on the
side for turning and backstitching on both ends, see
Picture 8. Make sure all layers are included. Clip the
seam, see Picture 9. Turn the sandal right side out
and pin the opening, see Picture 10. Press the seam
and topstitch around the shoe, see Picture 11. Repeat
this process for the other sandal.
2
Sew the soft side of the Velcro pieces onto the exterior heel of the sandals, as indicated on the pattern.
Sew in a rectangular shape, pivoting at the corners and backstitching on the start and end points. Make
the bows and sew them to the exterior uppers, see Picture 13. (See “Make the Bow”.)
Fold the exterior bow center piece in half lengthwise with right sides together. Sew along the long open
edge, backstitching on both ends, see Picture 17. Turn the center piece right side out and press. Encase the
middle of the bow piece with the center piece, see Picture 18.

*Because our patterns are on PDF files, the pages may be scaled prior to printing, depending on the
printer and print driver. To ensure that the shoes pattern prints in the correct size, set the margins on
zero before printing the pattern. To do so, select “None” from the “Page Scaling” drop-down list in Acrobat
or Reader’s Print dialog box (Hanyaloglu, 2007).
**The size of the shoes may also be affected by the thickness of your interfacing and/or fabric.
***The length of the shoes may slightly differ according to the shoes’ shape
****The pattern sizes should match the following measurements upon printing:
Baby Shoes
Size 1 (0-3 mos.): 4"
Size 2 (3-6 mos.): 4.25"
Size 3 (6-9 mos.): 4.5"
Size 4 (9-12 mos.): 4.75"
Size 5 (12-18 mos.): 5"
