DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

The main purpose of the distribution system is to transport water to

consumer with appropriate quality, quantity, and pressure. (PPT)

In addition to that, distribution system is used to describe collectively the facilities used to
supply water from its source to the point of usage.

(more explanation)
Distribution System is consisting of pipes, pumps, valves, and other hydraulic
equipment’s that connect treatment plants or well supplies to consumers’ taps.
COMPONENTS OF PLUMBING SYSTEM/DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

VALVES

A device that regulates, directs or controls the flow of a fluid (gases, liquids,

fluidized solids, or slurries) by opening, closing, or partially obstructing
various passageways. (PPT)

In a Distribution System there are two types of Valves that are generally used the Isolation and
Control Valves. The main difference of the two is that Isolation Valve used in fluid
management to stop the flow of process fluids in a pipeline, this is usually for maintenance or safety
purposes. While the Control Valves, it’s main purpose is stop the flow of water to specific areas of a
building.

HYDRANTS

A fixture in a street or in public place with nozzle by which a hose may be

attached to a water main. (PPT)

But the main purpose of the hydrants, these are the device that are used
for extracting water from pipelines and water distribution system, that in a
fire outbreak, fire hydrant can assure fast water supply. Fire hydrants are
installed in areas that are easily accessible by fire fighters and are not
obstacles to pedestrians and vehicles.

TANKS

Storage for treated water, chlorine contact time, and water pressure. (PPT)

The main role of a water storage tank is to store water before it is used for
drinking, washing, cleaning, and so on - but many storage tanks are more
complex than they seem.
PIPES

Typically buried below the frostline to keep them freezing and protect them
from vandalism (PPT)
Used to convey substances which can flow — liquids and gases
(fluids), slurries, powders and masses of small solids.
TYPES OF AND USES FOR WATE HEATER

CONVENTIONAL STORAGE TANK WATER HEATER

Tank that hold the water to be heated. (PPT)

It makes the hot water that is necessary to carry out many everyday
household tasks. Most homes come equipped with a standard storage tank
water heater. This type of water heater system utilizes a tank to store water
that is kept hot and ready to use.
TANKLESS WATER HEATER

It has no tank and features modern technology. (PPT)

Tankless water heaters heat water instantaneously without the use of a

storage tank. When a hot water faucet is turned-on, cold-water flows
through a heat exchanger in the unit. In addition, Tankless water heaters
can be installed anywhere inside your home.
