The impacts of working online

How did working online affect our life? With the outbreak of covid-19, countries,

firms, schools, and almost every institution have turned to work online, to ensure people's

safety during the pandemic. Even though covid-19 is the primary cause for working online, it

is not the only cause. In the era of technology and development, some available jobs don't

require active attendance. Working remotely has changed individuals’ lives utterly, due to its

many effects, including impacts on physical, psychological and mental health, and people's

relationships in general.

To begin with, online working has influenced our physical health substantially. When

was the last time you went to the doctor for a checkup, went to the gym, or participated in

your favorite sport? With online working, people have more free time to take care of their

health, which should not be ignored. Unfortunately, some people tend to ignore it, although

they have enough time to give it the attention it needs. Besides, working from home will train

you to develop unhealthy habits, for instance, bad posture, terrible food habits, and poor time

management.

The psychological effects of this phenomenon cannot be overlooked. Now while you

are by yourself at home no crowd, no distractions- technically there are many distractions, but

you have complete control over them- consequently, you will have lower stress levels, which

means your productivity will increase. Furthermore, more freedom to choose when to eat

when to drink, when to work, and when to sleep, etc. Imagine having this significant amount

of freedom, with having the ability to sleep as much as you want, personally, my motivation

would be hitting the roof. On the other side, having this amount of freedom could result in

bad outcomes. Some people may not have the ability to control themselves. In other words,

the freedom they have could cause them to lose focus- to any of the distractions they are

surrounded with. Let’s not forget that relationships could be also affected by working online.

On top of that, the effects of this phenomenon did not spare relationships.

Communication issues between coworkers may arise at times, especially, in jobs where

communication is a must. Colleagues and teams who are soiled by one another may suffer

mental health consequences and experience feelings of loneliness. On the contrary, your

relationship profit, hat goes for your relationship with friends or other family members. This

would allow you to spend more time with your children, and cover their needs. Working

online will not fix your relationship on its own. You must spend some effort trying to

strengthen your bonds with your family, friends, and whomever you want to have a good

relationship with.

To sum up, working online has influenced our lives in many areas including physical

and mental health, and relationships. To exploit the remote working situation wisely, we

should Cooperate not only with each other, but also with the government itself and any other

responsible institutions to prevent the drawbacks of this phenomenon.
