CURRICULUM
Students in Brazil follow the Brazilian National Curriculum in compliance with BNCC (Base Nacional Comum Curricular), a
document developed by the Brazilian Ministry of Education and PEC (Common Educational Project), written and developed by
the Brazilian Jesuit Network. BUT:

The common base is the same for all the technical courses offered: Portuguese Language, Physical Education, Spanish Language,
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Arts, Philosophy, Sociology and English. All these subjects are offered
every year, with the exception of language subjects.

However, each course has specific subjects per year. They are mandatory subjects and often more complex than the regular
teaching schedule of a normal school. The technical subjects have a workload of 80 or 40 hours per year. They require the
same or greater dedication from the student than the common core subjects, and often the contents of an undergraduate
degree are addressed, at a level of complexity.
For example, the Oil and Gas technical course has subjects such as Chromatography, Spectrometry, Materials Technology
and Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics applied to Oil and Gas. The technical course of Mechanics has as technical
subjects Pneumatic Hydraulic Circuits, Resistance of Materials and Elements of Machines and Machining.
Some courses have more technical subjects than others, and this varies from year to year. There are up to nine technical subjects
per year, plus the common core subjects. To comply with the institution's demanding workload, which requires 800 to 1440 class
hours per year, varying between courses, students have a minimum of six classes per day, during the morning or afternoon, and
also participate in after-hours classes.

In addition to the curriculum, the IFPR has the DPEI, the Department of Research, Teaching and Innovation, where each professor
can develop research projects together with the students. These projects vary between all areas and can result in partnerships with
other universities, published articles and presentations at congresses, such as SECIF itself, an IFPR congress.
Some students are scholarship holders and are paid to work on these projects. This is one of the types of financial aid that the
Institution (public and free) gives so that its students can pay for their commute and food, in addition to helping at home and
being able to fully dedicate themselves to their professional and academic development.
In addition, there are several other clubs that students can participate in, such as the recent Astronomy Club (CAIFC),
theater groups, cultural presentation (ARTIF), music (MUSIF), poetry (POESIANDO), among others that can be created by
students themselves, as long as they get the guidance of a teacher.
