EDUCATION FOR LIFE?

Nowadays, there are several detractors of the education system (which is being) currently
used. They allege that we are not preparing the next generation of students for the real world that

they will face given that the teached subjects TAUGHT are no longer useful. It is
necessary to adapt them to the way the society is moving day by day.

- DONT USE PASSIVE VOICE WITH “BEING”, IT IS NOT NATURAL

It is a fact that algebra and geometry are subjects that fulfill a concrete aspect of education.
Nevertheless, it is also a reality that this type of knowledge should not be the main point of modern
, ,
schools. A vast majority of students who finish their studies does not feel properly prepared for
the work life.

That is why it is paramount to teach more creative skills. By doing so, not only would we
foster students to develop their critical thinking, but we would also avoid the creation of very docile
adults, easily controlled by society.

So, unless we wanted to be completely useless people, we would modify the current
education system. Moreover, we should arrange meetings or courses to teach some of the most basic
life skills, like home maintenance or domestic economy. Rarely has a society been able to thrive
without managing such basic abilities.

TASK 4

Dear owner of the channel:

I write to you in order to show my opinion with regards to the present situation of your TV
channel. I strongly believe that during the last ten years the quality of your programmes is steadily
declining. Therefore, I consider necessary to explain the reasons for that to you.

First of all, the huge variety of shows that you used to air on your channel was
overwhelming. Nonetheless, now you only broadcast a very little NUMBER amount of
programmes. It is easily observed that your channel CAN (CONCORDANCE) could be showing
the same type of content for hours and, in some cases, even days.

- QUANTITY OF+UNC/PLURAL

Secondly, not only do you BROADCAST (emit: GASES) a reduced number of programmes,
but you also reduce theIR quality of them. It is not a secret that your channel is focused on a certain
sector of the population, but the current situation is clearly abusing the gossiping spaces. Therefore,
you HAVE developED a poor fame for your TV channel which is worsening the situation.
 Finally, it is essential to control the QUANTITY amount of commercials that you show.
There are some cases of breaks which last more than half an hour. This kind of practices should be
completely forbidden. It is high time you reconsidered the way you have chosen.
