Your practical reports and assignments for the module should conform to the following specs:
Typed, font Calibri, font size 11, single line spacing. Left and right margins 3cm. Header to
include Student name, Practical name, Course name: BEng. Mechanical or Mechatronics,
etc, as appropriate, as per example above. Footer to include page number, as per example
below.
Your reports should contain a minimum of the following sections (and any additional
sections as appropriate)
o Standard front cover
o Contents page
o Introduction – any appropriate background info.
o Objectives
o Methodology, testing etc.
o Solution, including explanation.
o Discussion – interpretation, application, problems encountered, answers to
questions posed, etc.
o Conclusion
You should familiarise yourself with the Institute’s policy on plagiarism and ensure that
your work conforms to this policy. No hardcopies are required unless otherwise directed.
Group work is encouraged in problem solving and development of understanding. Your
report should be your own work, written by yourself, with your own ideas.
You will be informed of the submission date at the appropriate time. Standard late hand-
up rules will apply, i.e. you will lose marks if your work is late. See the student handbook
for specific details.
In essence, your reports should demonstrate a clear understanding of the topic in question.
