Virtual Reality

Applications
ANNMARIE ATHERTON, JOHN KELLY AND CIARA STYNES
What is Virtual
Reality?

 Computer simulation of a three-

dimensional image.
 Interactive in seemingly real way
with the use of special electronic
equipment.
 VR places the user inside an
experience instead of on a viewing
screen
Car Designs
 Ford are testing a new tool called Microsoft HoloLens.
 It allows designers to see, edit and interact with vehicle elements in a virtual world.
 A real vehicle is used as a backdrop.
 Collaborators can also record virtual reality "sticky notes", to provide feedback.
 This tool reduces the time it takes to review and discuss changes. And helps designers to
see the world through the eyes of the driver.
Maintenance

 VR Technology can help train people to

repair machines without needing to take
one apart.
 This saves time and money as machines
can stay running.
 It also makes it easy to train up staff for a
new machine before it arrives.
