MOTIVATION:

(Teacher will distribute the flashcards)

Now, before we proceed to our lesson let us have first a
group game called FACT or BLUFF. I have prepared an
emojis flashcards and later I will present few statements
and all you have to do is to describe if it is fact or bluff.
You must raise your flashcard with happy face emoji if the
statement is true or a fact and sad face emoji if it is bluff.
This is a group game, but you will answer each statement
individually. Therefore, your score for each item will be
determined by the number of right answers in your group.
Each item is equivalent to 1 point and whoever from these
two groups gets a high point will be the winner. And for
your group, these two columns will be the group1 and Yes sir !
these two columns will be the group 2.

Is that clear?
Yes sir!

Are you ready?

(Student will start to answer)

1. Running will increase your calories

Times up! Show your answer

Answer may vary
(Teacher will ask selected students about their answer)

Why do you think it is bluff (or fact)?

Alright! This statement is bluff. And later you will find out (Student will start answering)
the reasons.

2. Stretch before you exercise because it will condition FACT

your muscle.

activities with confidence

PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON

ACTIVITY:

Alright! Before we continue to our lesson, kindly get a ¼

sheet of paper. And I have here a set of pictures I want
you to observe and identify which of these are examples (Students will start to identify the pictures)
of moderate and vigorous activities. Write moderate
activity if you think that the picture is example of
moderate activity and vigorous if the picture is example of
vigorous physical activity.

ANALYSIS (Answer may vary)

(Teacher will call selected students to share their

answer)
(Answer may vary)
Why do you think that the first picture is moderate (or
vigorous) physical activity?
(Answer may vary)

Why do you think that second picture is moderate (or

vigorous) physical activity?

And how about the last pictures? (Teacher will call

selected students) Why do you think that the third picture
is moderate (or vigorous) physical activity?

Alright! Just keep your paper, and we will check your

answers as we continue to our lesson.

ABSTRACTION
 What is moderate physical activity?
Now, let’s dig deeper to our topic and learn more about Moderate-intensity activities are those that get you
moving fast enough or strenuously enough to burn
moderate and vigorous activity. off three to six times as much energy per minute as
you do when you are sitting quietly.

 Kindly read the definition of moderate physical

activity… (Answer may vary)

Based on you understanding from the definition, what do

you think is moderate physical activity?
(Students will raise their hand)
Alright, thank you! moderate activities are common daily One of the examples of moderate activity is walking
tasks that do not require much effort. Moderate-intensity
activities make the heart, lungs, and muscles work harder
than usual.

Now who can give one example of moderate physical

activity?  Brisk walking
(Teacher will select at least 3 students)  Dancing
 Gardening
 Housework or domestic chore
Alright thank you! Now let see if those mentioned  Traditional Haunting and
examples are included in the example of moderate gathering
physical activities. Kindly read…
 Active involvement in games or
sports with children
 General building task
 Carrying or moving moderate
loads (20 kg)

 Brisk walking- Brisk walking is considered

moderate-intensity exercise, which is defined in
simple terms as an activity that allows you to
hold a conversation but is too taxing to allow
you to sing (Roland, 2019)
 Dancing – ballroom dancing
 Gardening- according to  American Heart
Association, you can easily burn the
same number of calories gardening as you would
at the gym. Digging, raking, and mowing
are particularly effective at burning calories
(Hickey, 2019)
 Housework or domestic chore- Daily chores
like cleaning your house, mowing the lawn,
cleaning the car, shopping for food and other
things are all examples of moderate exercise,
which helps improve health and fitness.
 Traditional haunting and gathering- fishing
 Active involvement in games or sports with
children – playing sports with your little sister (Students will raise their hands)
or brothers
 General building task e.g., painting
 Carrying or moving moderate loads (20kg) Answer may vary

(Teacher will now check the answer from the

activity)

Alright! Now, let’s check your answer. Who answered

moderate in the first and third pictures? What is vigorous physical activity?
Vigorous-intensity activities. Vigorous
Why do you think it is moderate? activities require the highest amount of oxygen
consumption to complete the activity.

Correct! For the first and third pictures, those are moderate (Answer may vary)
activities. As what I have said earlier, moderate is an
activity that does not require high energy.

 While when we say vigorous physical activity,

kindly read…

Kindly explain based on your understanding what is

vigorous physical activity,
One of the examples of vigorous activities is Running
Thank you! When we say Vigorous-intensity exercise—
sometimes called high-intensity exercise—is a physical
activity done with a large amount of effort, resulting in a
substantially higher heart rate and rapid breathing. Your  Walking/climbing briskly up a hill
exertion would be considered hard to extremely hard,  Running
making it difficult to speak in full sentences.
 Walking/climbing briskly up a hill
Who can give an example of vigorous activity?  Fast cycling
(Teacher will select at least 3 students)  Aerobics
 Fast swimming
Thank you! Now, let see if those mentioned activities are  Competitive sports and games
included in the examples of moderate physical activity. (traditional games, football, volleyball,
Kindly read… hockey, basketball)
 Carrying heavy loads >20 kg

 Walking/climbing briskly up a hill- (Teacher will

cite localized example)
 Running- (Teacher will cite localized example)
 Fast cycling
 Aerobics
 Fast swimming
 Competitive sports and games (traditional games,
football, volleyball, hockey, basketball) - (Teacher (Students will raise their hands)
will cite localized example)
 Carrying heavy loads >20 kg Answer may vary
(Teacher will now check the answer from the
activity)

Who answered vigorous in the second picture?

Why do you think it is vigorous?

Very good! The second pictures based on the

definitions and example a while ago is a vigorous
physical activity. Fast swimming requires you high
amount of oxygen and energy.

An easy way to estimate intensity of activities is

through a method called the “talk test”. This
method is a simple, practical way for individuals
to measure their activity intensity.  If you are
doing a moderate intensity activity, you can talk,
but not sing during the activity. If you are doing a One of the moderate physical activities that we can
vigorous intensity activity, you will not be able to do indoor is badminton
say more than a few words without taking a breath
(Prosch, 2018)

Now, in doing physical activities you can choose whether

you want to do indoor activities or outdoor activities.

Based on the examples of moderate physical activities I

have mentioned a while ago, which do you think are the
indoor activities? One of the vigorous physical activities that we can do
indoor is Aerobics
Very good! Badminton is considered as an indoor sport
activity and moderate physical activity at the same time.

Under moderate physical activity that you can do outdoor

is we have brisk walking.
Answer may vary
How about for vigorous activity, can you give example of
vigorous activities that you can do indoor?

Very good! We have aerobic as an indoor moderate

activity and running for outdoor activity.

Now, what do you think is the significance of performing

moderate and vigorous physical activities?

Very good!

Being active is an important part of a teenager’s growth

and development, especially if done regularly. You must  improve heart health and fitness
realize that it is a great way to appreciate all your hard
work, spend time to care with yourself and friends, meet  develop strong muscles
new people, feel good, and break up long stretches of  develop strong bones
playing online games and watching movies. It allows to
move the entire body, even by just cheering, or running
 develop good posture
after the ball. Being active every day can help you as  maintain a healthy weight
teenagers achieve the following, kindly read…
Alright! We have…
 improve heart health and fitness
 develop strong muscles Yes sir!
 develop strong bones
 develop good posture None sir!

 maintain a healthy weight

Do you follow?

Do you have any questions?

APPLICATION

Alright! Since you do not have questions and you already

have the necessary knowledge about our lesson. This time
you will going to perform moderate to vigorous physical
activity. I have video prepared here, all you have to do is
to follow the steps on the video.

I will give you 5 minutes to practice as a whole then right

after we will be having a group presentation. I will group
you according to your column. This column will be the

During quarantine which among from these activities you

usually do? And how this helped you?

Thank you! very good! Always remember that it is

important to perform different types of physical activities
especially that as a students and teenagers we sometimes
experience stress, and it may because of the
responsibilities we have at home and school or personal
reasons. If you still remember during your junior high
school days, you were taught about the toxic Filipino
culture and one of those is Manana habit. That such habit
can give you more stress just like when you have
challenging tasks, your defaults is to avoid doing them
until you have no choice but to do them. Meaning, if you
have fitness goals such as gaining muscle or losing Yes sir!
weight, stop hesitating and take control of your choices.

2. gardening 2. playing basketball
3. dancing 3. fast bicycling
Differentiate moderate and vigorous activity (2 points) - Moderate physical activity refers to activities equivalent in
intensity to brisk walking or bicycling. Vigorous physical activity produces large increases in breathing or heart rate,
such as jogging, aerobic dance or bicycling uphill.
Explain the importance of performing different types of physical activities (2 points)- Physical activity or exercise
can improve your health and reduce the risk of developing several diseases like type 2 diabetes, cancer and
cardiovascular disease. Physical activity and exercise can have immediate and long-term health benefits. Most
importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life.
