Health Optimizing Physical Education 3

DAILY LESSON PLAN (FOR BLENDED LEARNING)

I. Objectives
A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of dance in optimizing one’s
health; as requisite for physical activity assessment performance, and as a
career opportunity.
B. Performance Standard
The learner leads dance events with proficiency and confidence resulting in
independent pursuit and in influencing others positively
C. Learning Competencies
Self-assesses health-related fitness (HRF) status, barriers to physical activity
assessment participation and one’s diet (PEH12FH-Ig-i-6)
 Explain how to optimize the energy systems through dancing

II. Subject Matter

Title: Optimizing Energy Systems Through Dance

Materials: Self-Learning Module, Pen, Paper, YouTube video

III. Procedure
Introductory Activities
 Prayer
 Checking of attendance
 Presentation of the Lesson Objective

A. Activity
Motivation
The teacher instructs the learners to check their Heart Rate for 60
seconds and write it on a piece of paper. After they have checked their Heart
Rate, the teacher will then presents/gives a 3-minute LiveLoveParty.tv’s Zumba
dance video with the song Girl in the Mirror by Sophia Grace for the learners to
follow.

B. Analysis
After the Zumba dance, the teacher instructs again the learners to check
their Heart Rate for 60 seconds and let them compare it before they have
performed the Zumba dance. The teacher asks the learners questions “what
were you feeling before dancing?”, “what were you feeling during dancing?”,
and “what did you feel after you danced?”. The learners might feel happy, tired,
or mention other feelings that they feel about it. The teacher then connects to
what the learners’ feelings to today’s topic on Energy Systems and Optimizing
Energy Through Dance.

C. Abstraction
The teacher discusses the lesson of the day on Energy System and How
to Optimize Energy through Dance.

How do we optimize energy?

Energy is the ability or capacity to do work and is measured in calories
or joules. There are three energy systems: ATP-CP or Adenosine Triphosphate
– Creatine Phosphate, Glycolytic System, and Oxidative System.

What is the use of energy in dancing?

Energy is all about how movement happens. It represents the qualities
of movement. A dancer can communicate the meaning of a dance with the
energy they put into it because it is energy that connects the emotion on the
inside with those watching the performance.
Zumba is one of the ways to optimize energy. Zumba is an aerobic
activity that can count toward the amount of aerobic activity recommended
for most healthy adults by the Department of Health and Human Services.

D. Application
The teacher plays the video again from earlier and lets the students
point out the steps/movements that use ATP-CP, Glycolytic System, and
Oxidative System. Though doing the Zumba dance uses the Oxidative System,
but there are movements that require no oxygen.
ATP-CP Movements
1. Clapping
2. Pointing out

Glycolytic System Movements

1. Raising/waving arms
2. Shaking hips
3. Chorus part

Oxidative Movements
1. Jumping
2. Step side-to-side

IV. Evaluation
The teacher will evaluate the learners of what they have learned
from today’s lesson and let them assess themselves.

A. Based on the Zumba dance video, assess yourself and list down
at least 3 movements that requires the following Energy
Systems.
ATP- CP Glycolytic Oxidative
1. 1. 1.
2. 2. 2.
3. 3. 3.

B. Answer the following questions.

1. What are the things that you have realized about optimizing
energy?
2. Explain how to optimize energy systems through dancing.
