WEEKLY LESSON PLAN FOR HEALTH-OPTIMIZING PHYSICAL EDUCATION

CHAPTER 1-LESSON 1

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:


1.1 Recall health-enhancing benefits that you get from participating benefits that you get
from participating in fitness, dance and sporting activities
1.2 Differentiate active and passive recreation
1.3 Identify external factors that influence one’s physical activity behaviour and assess
your family’s and the neighbourhood’s support for physical activity
1.4 Analyze if your neighbourhood supports active living
1.5 Identify outdoor recreation activities that are accessible to you.

V. MOTIVATION
Call random pupils and ask them to give some example of their leisure activity.
Differentiate the examples given by your students between outdoor activities from
indoor activities

VII. PRESENTATION (Lesson Proper)


 Discuss the different recreational activity that can help the body to be fit like
dancing, sporting and other exercises.
 Discus the factor that influence in our participation in different activities
 Discuss the difference between the active and recreational activities using the
sedentary Behaviour Guidelines
 Discuss the difference outdoor activities and the plan before engaging in such
activities. Learn how to prevent from accidents and develop collaboration with the
interaction with others like neighbour, friends and even your family.
 Discuss the difference between indoor activities from outdoor activities
 Discuss the advantages and disadvantages in doing outdoors activities from the
equipment and the environment where you performed you leisure.
VIII. GENERALIZATION
Call random pupils to recap the lesson by answering this question
1. What are the factors that affect and influence an individual in performing activities
2. How can you differentiate the difference between social from environmental
factors
3. Give at least one example of outdoor activities and its advantages and
disadvantages

IX. APPLICATION
ACTIVITY 1- This activity is entitled “FLYING CAPE”
MATERIALS: 4x6 feet sheet of tarp, plastic, canvas, or cloth
OBJECTIVES:
 With the sheet laid on the ground, all group members must stand on it and
turn the cape over so that everyone in the group is standing on the opposite
side of the tarp.
 No one is allowed to step off the sheet at any time during process of turning it
cover.
VARIATIONS
 The size of the tarp may be bigger or smaller depending on the size of the
group
 This activity can be done over several round have two or three people on
the tarp. Each round you may add more people
ACTIVITY 2- this activity is entitled “Minefield”
MATERIALS: blindfolds (handkerchief) balls, ballpen, stick and etc.
OBJECTIVES: To guide your blindfolded teammate through the “minefield” without
touching any of the mines
MECHANICS:
 The “mines” will be scattered along a marked course.
 The class will be divided into groups of six. Each group must have a
designated leader, while the rest of the group is blindfolded.
 Each blindfolded person must make his/her way across the marked course
without touching any of the “mines” by listening to the verbal instructions your
leader.
