Directions: Borrow a syllabus from any of your college teachers. This is an


example of a written curriculum. Study this and answer the two items that
follow:

1. What elements of a curriculum do you find in the syllabus? Copy at


least two (2) examples of each element and include these in your
portfolio collection.
Answer: The elements of a curriculum that I have found in the syllabus
that I borrowed and studied are the Goals of the Bachelor of Secondary
Education,Course descriptions, Course Objectives (Course Outcome), and
Grading Scheme.

In line with the Isabela State University’s vision and mission, the BSE is
tasked to:
1. Enhancing the qualification of educators and professional development
equipped with advanced training and educational innovations as well
as research and extension capabilities; and
2. Preparing and developing highly qualified basic education teachers and
skilled technologists through quality and well-rounded pre-service
training in both academic and vocational fields for diverse communities
of learners.

Course Objective (Course Outcome)


At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding on the essential processes shaping socio
cultural geographies of contemporary cities.
2. Demonstrate knowledge on the different issues affecting contemporary
cities and topics on sustainability and the future.

2. Can you identify, what curriculum design or designs your teacher is


using? Identify and give explanation to the design you have identified.

Answer: I have identified that the curriculum design my teacher used are
Subject-Centered and Learner-Centered Design. Subject-Centered Design
because the syllabus corresponds on textbook, it focused on a particular
subject and the teacher provided a Pre-determined list of lessons. And
Learner-Centered Design because I think the teacher takes the learner’s
needs and interests. As I studied the syllabus, the teacher also provides
quizzes, recitations and few activities such as poetry and essay. In
addition, assessment techniques, exercises, content, subject matter
analysis, and interactive activities are used to meet each learning target.
This curriculum design help them to set a goal especially in teaching. The
Teacher learner centered is like giving more information and the student
learner centered is likely the teacher is our facilitator. Students need to
conduct a demo teaching.
