Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity

A. Preparatory Activities
Good morning class! Good morning Sir!

Please stand up for our prayer, Mister Bartolome Let us pray.

please lead us in the prayer.
Dear Lord and Father of all, Thank you for
today. Thank you for ways in which you
provide for us all. For Your protection and
love we thank you. Help us to focus our
hearts and minds now on what we are
about to learn. Inspire us by Your Holy
Spirit as we listen and write. Guide us by
your eternal light as we discover more
about the world around us. We ask all
this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

As you take your sits, kindly pick up some pieces of

trash and throw it in the bin.
Thank you, sir.
Okay class take your sits.
Present.
I’ll call for attendance, and say “Present” if your
name is called for.
B. Motivation
Okay sir.
Before we start the class let us have some
icebreaker.

We will have a little game called “3 words”, this

game is about saying three words on a specific
subject and each of you will say three words
alternatively.

Let us start, the topic is science. You may start first Innovative, specific and universal.
miss Jas.

Okay next. Vast, research, and discovery.

C. Discussion

Before we proceed can someone recall the last

topic? Mister Leymar.

Very good.

Now let us move on to our topic, does any of you Resistance is a measure of the opposition to the
knows what resistance is? current flow in an electrical circuit.

Very good, yes resistance is the opposition to the

current flow in an electrical circuit and it is also
measured in Ohms or Ω.

Do you know why it is called ohms? Sir because it is studied by Georg Simon Ohm.

Yes, it is and he also formulated the Ohm’s law

which we will tackle on a later date.

Anyway, all materials can resist the current electrical Sir we can know them in to two categories in
flow to some degree but how would we know them? which they are the conductors and insulators.

Okay very good, now what is the differentiation of The difference between the two are first they
the two? both have a resistance but those resistance are
the difference; the conductor have low resistance
in which the electric flow more fluent in the
conductors while the insulators have higher
resistance in the flow of electricity.

Yes, that is correct, we can distinguish the two by

their ability to resist the flow of electricity in the
circuit. Most of the conductors are metal such as
gold and silver.

They mostly use in conducting electricity in the

circuit so they are called conductor.

Then the insulators have the most resistance in

conducting electrical flow. Can you give some Sir they are the glass, rubber and wood.
examples?

Now that we are tackling the resistance how or what

are the condition of the resistance measurements
that we can distinguish in a circuit.

What could we conclude if the item has low current

flow? Sir we can conclude that if the item has low
current flow that it has high flow resistance
And if it has high current flow?
It has low flow resistance.
That is correct, now many components such as
heating element and resistor, have fixed-resistance
value.

Those fixed-resistance are often indicated by print or

nameplates of the material or it is given in manuals.

Now the word “RESISTANCE” may sound negative

but it is in fact highly beneficial in electricity.

Can you tell me why?

Sir that is because we need both of them in
electricity.
Yes, that is correct we need both the resistance the
conductors and insulators in making circuits, first we
need the conductors to conduct the electricity so
that it can flow more naturally. And then we need to
cover the conductors with the insulator to prevent it
from burning the flammable materials.

Now let us move on to the Ohm’s law, but first we

need to know who Georg Simon Ohm.
Who do you think he is?

Yes, and his father Johann Wolfgang Ohm was a

locksmith and his mother Maria Elizabeth Beck a
tailor had seven children but only three survived to Georg Simon Ohm is a German Physicist and
adulthood and their mother died when Ohm was Mathematician that lived during March 16 1789
only ten years old. until July 6 1854.

He was taught by their father along with his younger

brother Martin with Mathematics, Physics,
Chemistry, and Philosophy.

Before he gave his theory, what do you think he did?

In 1827 he gave his complete theory on electricity

and published it as Die galvanische Kette,
mathematisch bearbeitet (The Galvanic Circuit
Investigated Mathematically)

In his book he equated that E = I*R or voltage is

equal to ampere multiplied by ohm Georg also taught at University of Erlangen.

So, if we have 60Ω and 4amps, how much volts are

needed?

Very good.

If we are to compute Ohms or the resistance what is

the equation we need?

Yes, that is correct. Sir 240volts

So, if we have 240volts and 2amps, how much is the

ohm?

Correct. R=E/I

That’s all for this lesson next lesson is about the

Ohm’s law.

120Ω sir
D. Application

Now that we have tackle about resistance and Georg

Ohm, can you illustrate to me how both the
insulator and conductor is being used in electric
current?

Can you explain? Mister Ariel

E. Generalization

Now, if we say electricity, we can say that there is

some kind of resistance in the circuits of every Sir using both the insulator and conductor I have
electrical outlets, and machines. Now tell me if its drawn a wire, because it uses the insulator as a
insulator or conductor: cover for the conductor so it won’t cause fire.

Answer: insulator

Answer: conductor

Answer: insulator
.

Answer: conductor

F. Valuing

Now what do you think is the importance of

resistance in the daily life of a person? Sir it can help prevent us from having fire out of
the electrical materials that we have and better
understanding of what and how to use resistance
in making circuits.
That’s all.

IV. Evaluation
Now class we will have an activity, write down 15
objects that has resistance and write if it’s an
insulator or conductor.

V. Agreement

Review about the Ohm’s law.
