Course Title: Building Services and Systems - I


Course Code: ARCH -243

Teacher/Leader: Ar. Ch. Rashid Ahmad Adil

Credit Hours: Theory = 1 hour practical = 1 hour

Contact Hours: Theory =1 hour practical = 2 hours

Class Hours: Wednesday 10.30 am to 1.20 pm

COURSE SUMMARY:
1-Introduction to different services and systems in buildings.
2-Detailed study of water supply and drainage including underground water tanks,
overhead water tanks, hot & cold water supply fittings in bathrooms and kitchens,
sanitary fittings, sewerage pipes, manholes, pipe slopes and rain water pipes. Study
of septic tanks, sewerage wells and connections to main sewerage lines.
3-Electric supply: wapda supply, solar supply and generators, transformers & U.P.S
systems, main & sub-distribution boards, electricity cables & sizes, electrical fittings
and fixtures.

4-Study of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, types and uses.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
 To study basic services and systems which are essential in the functioning of buildings?
 Preparation of working drawing of water supply, sanitation and electrification.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
 Ability to understand the importance of various basic services like water supply, sewerage
and electricity and select appropriate building system, environmentally responsive to the
social, economic and contextual factors.
