Assignment
Introduction and Objectives
Microsoft Office is a suite of software, containing software for document processing,
spreadsheets and presentations. These suites of software are called Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, respectively. In this assignment, you will be required to use
all three software to produce a proposal, a budget plan and a poster.
General Requirements
1. Documents should be written in English.
2. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
3. Creativity is strongly encouraged.
Distribution of Marks
1. Part 1: Proposal – 10 marks (Group work)
2. Part 2: Poster – 5 marks (Individual work)
Total – 15 marks

Part 1: Proposal – Group Work

Objectives
1. Prepare a proposal for a ‘Cybersecurity Awareness Program for 2023’.
2. Prepare a budget plan required for the program.
Topic
You and your team members are required to prepare a proposal for a ‘Cybersecurity Awareness
Program for 2023’. Each group must choose from the following organization for the program
(based on a first come, first served basis):
1. University
2. Factory
3. Bank
4. Airport
5. Government agency
6. Utility company
You and your team members are part of the cybersecurity team in the organization you have
chosen in 1-6. The purpose of the ‘Cybersecurity Awareness Program for 2023’ is to increase
cybersecurity awareness among the target audience in the organization. Each organization will
have a different target audience and your proposal must reflect that. For example, if the
organization chosen is hospital, the target audience for the program would be the patients,
doctors, nurses, administrative staff, technical support staff, management staff and other
suitable audience. For the year 2023, there must be a minimum of 3 programs to be held for

the awareness program. The proposed programs must be catered to the chosen organization
and the different types of employees (technical/non-technical background). An example of a
program is a talk.
The proposal must contain the following details:
• Introduction to cybersecurity
• Introduction to cybersecurity which may include definition of cybersecurity,
purpose of cybersecurity, examples and impact of cybersecurity attacks.
Other related information on cybersecurity may also be added in this
section. This should be a minimum of 2 pages.
• Detailed description of the proposed programs to be held throughout the year
• A detailed description of the proposed programs. There should be a
minimum of 3 programs to be held. Each program should be a minimum of
2 pages. With 3 programs, there should be a minimum of 6 pages.
• A summary of the content for each program must be included in your
proposal. For example, if it is a talk, what is the content of the talk?
• You may provide charts or flowcharts to make the program easy to
understand (using Microsoft Excel).
• Requirements for the proposed programs
• Describe the activities and milestones involved in developing all your
programs including the activities involved in the planning stage. You must
use a Gantt chart for this (using Microsoft Excel). The Gantt chart must be
for the year 2023 with the schedule for each program. This should be a
minimum of 2 pages.
• Budget: Describe the estimated budget required for each program. You must
use Microsoft Excel for this. The budget plan may contain details such as
salary of personnel (for example, if the program is a talk given by a
cybersecurity consultant), any special equipment needed for the program
and other expenses involved in organizing the program. This should be a
minimum of 2 pages.

Instructions
1. Use Microsoft Word to prepare the proposal.
2. Use Microsoft Excel to prepare the relevant charts and the budget plan.
3. The proposal (with relevant charts) and budget plan should be properly formatted. The
documents must be neat, easy-to-read, have good quality and look professional.
4. Any act of copying or plagiarism from any sources will be strictly penalised.
5. All submitted reports will be checked using Turnitin software. The similarity index
must be less than 20%. Please use your own words and do not just copy and paste from
your reference. All references must be properly cited and be included at the end of the
proposal. Please note that all reports will be checked using Turnitin software.
Deliverables
1. This is a task for 3-4 students (minimum of 3 members and maximum of 4 members).
2. For the assignment grouping, the group leader must complete the details in the Google
Form link https://forms.gle/xdABWFR8nfeassnC6 by 5 pm on Wednesday 16th
November 2022. Your assignment group will be assigned by the lecturer if you did not
fill in the form by the given deadline.

3. The minimum number of pages for the report is 12 pages (excluding cover page, table
of contents and references) and the maximum number of pages for the report is 16
pages. Prepare a proposal that is concise, clear and presentable.
4. The font for the proposal should be Times New Roman and the font size is 12. The line
spacing is ‘Multiple’ at 1.15 line. The paragraphs should be justified and there should
be no first line indentations. The budget plan must be done using Microsoft Excel.
Figures and tables must be properly labelled. Page number, table of contents and
headings must be included. The overall formatting of the proposal must be consistent.
5. The group leader will submit the report in MMLS and the hardcopy to the lecturer.

Part 2: Poster – Individual Work

Submission Deadline: 5 pm on Thursday 19th January 2023 – Individual work

Objective
1. Prepare a one-page poster presentation.
Instructions
1. Use Microsoft PowerPoint to prepare the poster. This is an individual task.
2. Ensure that the one-page poster is properly formatted.
• Formatting must be neat and consistent.
• Poster must look professional. It must also be engaging and clear.
3. Ensure that the poster contains the following details:
• Contents from the proposal
• The various ideas that you have previously prepared in your proposal should
be transferred into your poster.
• Contents from the budget plan
• Your budget plan should also be included into your poster.
4. Any act of copying or plagiarism will be strictly penalised. Your poster should not be
the same as your group members’ poster.
Deliverables
1. The same project from Part 1 shall be maintained. Each member should submit
individually in MMLS (softcopy) and submit the hardcopy to the lecturer.
