 Verify that the calibration certification of equipment are not expired.
 Proper and clear communication shall be established to all the member of this Installation
Pipe Works to ensure that correct instruction has been pass down to site execution team.

8.3 Installation Stage

8.3.1 Safety Precaution
 All workers must be trained and know the work site’s rules and regulations.
 All workers must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personal
safety and protection especially Safety Harness / Belts when working at high level.
 All workers must be briefed and must understand the Risk Assessments and Safe
Work Procedures (SWP).

 All workers must have SOC (Safety Orientation Course) or any Safety training as
prescribed by MOM and SIC (Safety Induction Course) conducted by Main
Contractor.
 Site Supervisor and Safety Supervisor must be in site to monitor the workers.

8.3.2 Installation of Chilled Water Pipe and Bracket Procedures

 To gather the approved drawing showing the layout of chilled water pipe as a
reference to locate ideal position of Bracket Support (UNP) with a height of 10 mm
which will be secured on the slab thru dyna set (anchor bolt with insert)
 To obtain the approval of PMX upon positioning of the bracket support (UNP). Onto
the center of raised floor grid eliminate clashing with the pedestal base.
 Upon approval of bracket support (UNP). To proceed drilling base on the approved
location of bolts.
 To Ensure all the drilling and installation of bracket support (UNP) has been fully
completed as the waterproofing can only commence upon completion of the drilled
support which inclusive of all M&E support system.
 To conduct the leveling of Bracket Support (UNP) by pulling a leveling string that
covers all the installed Bracket Support (UNP)

 Waterproofing and Water Pond Test will be conducted (kindly refer to water pond
testing)
 Upon Completion of Water Ponding Test, grouting beneath the Bracket Support
(UNP)at all area will process before the installation/lay of Chilled Water Pipes.
 There is no more drilling will be conducted on the installed Bracket Support (UNP) to
ensure that there will be no more vibration on the installed bracket it’s grout to
maintain it’s stability.
 Angle bar to be welded into Bracket Support (UNP) to hold the Chilled Water Pipe
into position for it’s firmness and stability.
 Delivery and installation/lay of Chilled Water will proceed.
 Cutting Galvanized/Black Steel Pipe
Galvanized steel pipe, shall be used in cooling water piping, potable water supply
piping. Pipe shall be marked accurately and then cut according to dimensions shown
on drawing or the dimensions most suitable for the conditions of field installation.
Cutting shall be done using pipe cutting machine, but for big pipe cutting shall be
done by oxy-acetylene cutting outfit. Pipe ends shall be beveled using grinder. Oxy-
acetylene and arc cutting is acceptable only, if followed by grinding smoothly.

 Steel pipe welding for pipe to flange.

- Temporally Spot Welding : First temporally connect at 1 point. Then check and
adjust vertically 90° using the square, etc. And
weld
them 3 or 4 point to fix them.

 Screw joint (for pipe to pipe & fitting)

- Preparation : Prepare screw socket & seal tape. Screw socket material & size
should be same with the pipe that will be connected.
- Connection : Lining the pipe screw with seal tape equally. Insert the socket to
pipe
screw. Turning by using hand 3 rounds, then thightening by using 2
pcs wrench which has been adjusted to its diameter. Make sure the
3 threads are not enter to socket after tightening. Do not rotate it
counter-clockwise again, it will become leakage on pipe connection

 To double check and ensure the size of the Chilled Water Pipe is correct on a specific
location. May refer to approved Chilled Water Pipe under raised floor layout and
Schematic Diagram for accurate installation/lay of pipes.
 To install a temporary short pipe (in-chian) on the valve location (note : the size and
dimension of the valve will be the exact dimension of short pipe. Contractor/PMX to
refer to approved Material selection for size and dimension)
 Proper leveling of pipe to be carried out upon completion of all laid pipes.
 Replacement of short pipe (in-chian) upon the arrival of gate valve on site with the
procedure of groove x groove connection of pipe with size Ø400mm and threaded
connection on the CRAC pipe with size Ø65mm and smaller. Also there will be an
occasional welding will be conducted (Bridging pipe whereby groove end and
threaded are not applicable).
 To ensure that washer and spring washer will be installed especially at flange
connection.
 Check for torque marking on every bolt for tightness and firmness of the installation.
 For threaded connection, a Teflon tape are required to wrap on the groove of the pipe
prior to its connection, pipe adhesive will be an optional which is on the discretion of
Client
 Upon checking all parameters and tightness of the pipe with gate valve, coupling and
all its accessories has been in place.
 After Installation Chilled Water Pipe has been completed, prepare Work Inspection
Request (WIR) to ensure installation done as per drawing and technical specification.
And to getting approval documentation from main contractor/tenant.
 Hydraulic pressure test will be conducted for at least 24 hours (refer to Hydraulic
Pressure Test MOS), after MIR approved. All welded piping shall be subjected to a

hydrotest 1.5 times the maximum working pressure, at which pressure all welded
joints shall be hammered with a pound hammer, the blow being struck hard enough to
jar the pipe without injuring it. Pinhole leaks shall be repaired by welding.

Operation Test Holding Media
No Piping System Remark
Pressure Pressure Time Water Air N2
1 Water Supply 4 Kg/cm2 7 Kg/cm2 24 hour O O
2 Fire Hydrant 10 Kg/cm2 15 Kg/cm2 24 hour O O
3 Hot Water 4 Kg/cm2 7 Kg/cm2 24 hour O O

All equipment for making this test shall be prepared such as electric test pump,
temporary connection and appurtenances. See method and drawing below :
- Put the test plug into the pipe.
- The electric test pump will be installed to the lowest level of pipe.
- Fill water into the pipe and ensure water is visible of the top end of all branch
lines.
- Purge the air from the highest point of all branch lines.
- Plug the end points after venting.
- Turn-on the electric test pump to start pressure test.
- Check pressure gauge to ensure that water is filled into the pipe.
- Add pressure until the water pressure becomes 7 Kg/cm2 for Water supply and 15
Kg/cm2 for Fire hydrant ( See table Standard for Pipe test ), whichever is target by
supplying water into the pipe.
- Pump side valve must be closed from pressure gauge.
- Close the valve until the regulated time for maintaining pressure.
- Take a pressure reading at the gauge after reaching the time given.
- Check all connection and joints after 24 hours of holding.
- All leaks shall be repaired after draining of water by removal and replacement of
leaking area.
- Test shall be repeated after repaired.
