Basic Hand and Arm Massage Techniques


The importance of knowing the techniques in masseur is the health benefits; a hand is made up of
several acupressure and reflexology points connected to organs and certain parts of the body.
F. Developing Mastery Student’s Activity
(Explain) Directions: After watching the video, kindly recall the steps of hand massage that has been shown
and arrange these following items to make the right sequence.
___ 1. Finish massage by tapering each finger. Beginning at the base of each finger, rotate,
pause, and squeeze with gentle pressure. Then, pull lightly with pressure until tip is
reached. Repeat three times.
___ 2. Rest client’s arm on the table. Grasp each finger at the base, and rotate it gently in large
circles, ending with a gentle squeeze of the fingertips. Repeat three times.
___ 3. Grasp each finger. Gently bend each finger, one at a time, to limber the top of the hand
and finger joints. As the fingers and thumb are bent, slide your thumb down toward the
fingertips.
___ 4. Fetch the client’s hand hold in your hand. Put a dab of lotion on the back of the client’s
hand and spread it all over the hand.
5. With the client’s elbow resting on the table, hold the hand upright. Massage the palm of
the hands with the cushions of your thumbs, using a circular movement in alternate
directions. This movement will completely relax the client’s hand.

movement and limber the wrist. Repeat three times.
___ 7. Hold the client’s hand. Massage the wrist, then top of the hand with a circular
movement. Slide back and with both hands wring wrist in opposite direction three

Directions: Perform the procedure of hand massage to your partner’s hand by following these
steps:
1. Fetch the client’s hand hold in your hand. Put a dab of lotion on the back of the client’s
hand and spread it all over the hand.
2. Hold firmly the client’s hand. Gently bend the hand in a forward and backward movement
and limber the wrist. Repeat three times.
3. Grasp each finger. Gently bend each finger, one at a time, to limber the top of the hand
and finger joints. As the fingers and thumb are bent, slide your thumb down toward the
fingertips.

Hand Massage Procedure

I. Objective: Perform the hand massage procedure properly.


II. Things Needed
1. Personal Protective Equipment (Apron, hairnet and face mask)
2. Lotion
3. Hand Towel (3pieces)
4. Basin
5. Hand soap
6. Water
III. Preliminary Activities
1. Put the hand towel under the basin, then fill the basin with water.
2. Ask the clients to wash their hands using the hand soap and water in the basin.
3. Prepare the hand towel to dry the client’s hand

IV. Directions: Perform the hand massage procedure with your partner by following these steps.
