• This pilot project will start at Ambedkar


DSEU Shakarpur – I campus, New Delhi.

• This involves around 1,000 active job


seekers between the age group of 18 and 29
years, with special focus on candidates from marginalised communities and women candidates.

• The Career Awareness Sessions have been established by both the partners for students at DSEU for
creating awareness among students on job portals, to enhance accessibility towards best suited jobs.

• The sessions are facilitated by YuWaah along with other job portal partners such as National Career
Service portal by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Apna, Teamlease and QJobs by Quess Corp.

• Along with this, another 6-month pilot project YuWaah Step Up – Bano job ready, being conducted by
Flywheel Digital Solutions Pvt with DSEU students that would support in enhancing the partnership.

• Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena launched Sah-Bhagita, an incentive scheme for involving Resident
Welfare Associations in optimal tax collection and waste management ecosystem.

• Under Sah-Bhagita, the RWAs will receive 15 percent of the total collection of property tax for
development works in their areas.

• The incentives will be given to RWAs on achieving 90 percent tax collection from the total number of
properties in their societies.

• This allows in recommendation towards the developmental work on 10 percent of the collected tax
amount subject to a ceiling of Rs. 1 Lakh.

PIMS to come into effect from 1st October 2022

• The Directorate General of Foreign Trade,


has introduced Paper Import Monitoring
System by amending the import policy of
major paper products from ‘Free’ to ‘Free
subject to compulsory registration under
PIMS’.

• PIMS shall come into effect from 1st


paper import monitoring system
October 2022. However, the online facility
of registration will be available from 15th
July 2022.

• The PIMS shall be applicable on import by a Domestic Territory Area unit on a wide range of paper
products covering 201 tariff lines, such as newsprint, handmade paper, coated paper, uncoated paper,
Litho and offset paper, tissue paper, toilet paper, cartons, labels, etc.

Economic Zone/Free Trading Warehousing Zone or at the time of import by an Export Oriented Unit of the
items covered under PIMS.

• The Central government will soon launch
a nationwide campaign Har Ghar
Tiranga to inspire countrymen to hoist
the national flag at their homes to mark
the 75th Independence Day.

• The initiative has been taken under the


aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, for
which the Ministry of Culture is the
nodal ministry.

• The Indian National Flag is a symbol of


national pride for the entire nation and to further honor the national flag.

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah who oversees all efforts under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has approved
the program of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’.

• The use, display, and hoisting of the Indian National Flag is guided by the Flag Code of India, 2002.

• The Flag Code of India took effect on 26th January 2002.

• In December last year, the Flag Code of India, 2002, was amended and the National Flag made of
polyester or machine-made has been allowed.

• Now, the National Flag shall be made of handspun and handwoven or machine-made, cotton, polyester,
wool, silk, and khadi bunting.

• The National Flag shall be rectangular in shape and it can be of any size but the ratio of the length to the
width of the Flag shall be 3:2.

• This first image from NASA’s James


Webb Space Telescope is the deepest and
sharpest infrared image of the distant universe
to date.

• This deep field, taken by Webb’s Near-


Infrared Camera is a composite made from
images at different wavelengths, totaling 12.5 hours achieving depths at infrared wavelengths beyond
the Hubble Space Telescope’s deepest fields, which took weeks.

• The image shows the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it appeared 4.6 billion years ago.

• Meanwhile, Nasa, in partnership with the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency, will
release the James Webb Space Telescope’s first full-colour images and spectroscopic data through a
live broadcast.

• The Webb telescope lifted off on an Ariane 5 rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana on
December 25, 2021, on its mission to unlock the secrets of the Universe.

• The spacecraft travelled for over a month to reach its destination nearly 15,00,000 kilometres away from
home for an unhindered view of the cosmos.

Lab recently developed “POP-FAME”,
which is a fuel from a bacterium.

• It has more energy than even the rocket


fuels have.

• As per simulation data, POP-FAME fuel


has energy density values more than 50
megajoules per litre, against 32 MJ for
petrol and 35 MJ for RP-1, which is a
rocket fuel based on kerosene.

• POP-FAME fuel name stands for “Polycyclopropanated Fatty Acid Methyl Ester”.

• The Trilateral Development Cooperation (TDC) Fund, a platform recently launched by the MEA, will
integrate the public and private sectors with state support for large-scale investments in the Indo-Pacific
region (which includes the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean, the western and central Pacific Oceans,
and the seas connecting the two in the general area of Indonesia) and other regions.

• TDC is aimed at providing an alternative to the Chinese development partnership model, the Belt- Road
Initiative (BRI), formerly known as One Belt One Road or OBOR for short, is a global infrastructure
development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in nearly 70 countries and
international organizations.

• Under the India-United Kingdom Global Innovation Partnership, the GIP Fund is intended to be
established as an Alternative Investment Fund in collaboration with the Foreign, Commonwealth and
Development Office

• The GIP Fund will invest primarily in small and medium-sized enterprises in India that address
development challenges in accordance with the goals and objectives of the GIP.

• The GIP Fund will target innovative Indian enterprises that are at an advanced stage but do not have
access to funding for expansion to other developing countries.

• In addition to facilitating the GIP programme for MEA, SVL will serve as the TDC Fund’s administrator-
cum- advisor (Investment Manager).

• Similar to the GIP Fund, established in collaboration with other partner nations under the TDC
framework, MEA may in the future use the TDC Fund to contribute to AIFs.

25th Financial Stability Report by RBI


• The Reserve Bank of India released the
25th issue of the Financial Stability Report (FSR)
which reflects the collective assessment of the
Sub-Committee of the Financial Stability and
Development Council on risks to financial
stability and the resilience of the financial
system.

• As per the report, the global economy


outlook is considerably uncertain because of the
Russia- Ukraine war, front-loaded monetary
policy normalization by central banks due to high inflation and multiple waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.

• In the latest systemic risk survey conducted by the Reserve Bank in May 2022, global spillovers and
financial market volatility moved to the ‘high’risk category.

• Scheduled commercial banks maintained robust capital positions, with the Capital to Risk Weighted
Assets Ratio (CRAR) and Common Equity Tier 1 (CET-1) Ratio of SCBs as high as 16.7 per cent and 13.6
per cent, respectively in March 2022.

• The CRAR of urban co-operative banks rose to 15.8 per cent in March 2022 while that of NBFCs stood at
26.9 per cent.

• The number of demat accounts of individuals increased 3.4 times on Central Depository Services (India)
Limited, and 1.5 times on National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) since January 2020.

• Indian stocks’ capitalisation was 1.12 times GDP, above its 10-year average of 0.79.

• The Bond-Equity Earnings-Yield Ratio (BEER), a measure of the relative attractiveness of equities vis-à-vis
bonds – has also dipped below its long-term average of 1.61.

• There is widening of the investor base due to the decline in real returns on fixed income investments,
simplification of Know Your Customer (KYC) registration processes, effective use of digital technology and
opening of online accounts, enhanced availability of investment information on digital modes and
growing public awareness.

• As per the report Gross Non Performing Assets (GNPAs) of SCBs fell to a six-year low of 5.9 per cent in
March 2022 and could fall further to 5.3% by March 2023 This is based upon the under the baseline
scenario driven by higher expected bank credit growth and declining trend in the stock of GNPAs, among

other factors.

• If the macroeconomic environment worsens to a medium or severe stress scenario, the GNPA ratio may
rise to 6.2% and 8.3% respectively.

• It may be noted that GNPAs of SCBs were at 7.4% in March 2021.

• Net NPA ratio also fell by 70 basis points (bps) during 2021-22 and stood at 1.7% at the year-end while
the Provisioning Coverage Ratio (PCR) improved to 70.9% in March 2022 from 67.6% in March 2021.

• India’s NPA ratio is one of the highest among other comparable countries. Russia’s NPA ratio stood at
8.3% followed by India with 5.9% ,South Africa stood at 5.2%,France at 2.7%,Indonesia at 2.6%,and China
1.8%.

• Reserve Bank of India, had constituted an Advisory Committee under Rule 5 (c) of the Insolvency and
Bankruptcy Rules, 2019, to advise the Administrator in the operations of the financial service providers
during the corporate insolvency resolution process.

• Reserve Bank of India came out with a set of norms for provisioning for standard assets by large Non-
Banking Financial Companies in view of the increasing role played by such entities in the financial system.

• According to Reserve Bank of India data, India’s foreign exchange (forex) reserves increased by USD 3.854
billion to USD 601.363 billion, owing to a substantial growth in the country’s foreign currency assets.

• The RBI has cancelled the CoR of Malik Motor Finance Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, in exercise of its
powers under Section 45-IA (6) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934The RBI has also cancelled the CoRs
of the following housing financing companies, exercising powers granted to it under Section 29A (6) of
the National Housing Bank Act, 1987.

• The Reserve Bank of India has raised the Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA) limit from Rs 5,000 to
Rs 15,000 per transaction for e-mandates on cards, Prepaid Payment Instruments and Unified Payments
Interface for recurring transactions.

• Reserve Bank of India extended the timeline for implementation of certain provisions of the master
directions it issued on issuance of debit cards and credit cards by three months from July 1, 2022 to
October 1, 2022.

• The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 57.50 lakh on Indian Overseas Bank for
non-compliance with certain directions of the central bank.

• The State Bank of India has received an in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India for the
establishment of an operations support subsidiary with the objective of lowering the cost-to-income
ratio.

• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India reduced the capital required to be held by
insurers offering Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana by almost 50%.

• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has extended the ‘Use and File’ procedure
for most of the Life Insurance products which means the life insurance companies can also launch these
products without prior approval of IRDAI.

• Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has reduced the solvency margin requirement
for general insurers doing crop business. This decision frees up a capital of Rs 1400 crore which will
increase the capacity of general insurers to underwrite more business.
