UP’s Ranipur Tiger Reserve Becomes 53rd Tiger


Reserve of India National

• Uttar Pradesh is set to have its fourth Tiger


Reserve and 53rd tiger reserve in India. The tiger
reserve is spread across over 529.36 sq km

• Apart from Ranipur, Uttar Pradesh has three tiger


reserves, Dudhwa, Pilibhit, and Amangarh.

• Uttar Pradesh government approved the development


of the first tiger reserve in the Bundelkhand region of
the state

• The UP government also approved the notification of


the Ranipur as per Wildlife Protection Act 1973.

• Railways Ministry has decided to stop physical
processing of files.

• It has announced that communication of the Railway Board


and Zonal Railways will only be through its e-office
platform.

• The Ministry said only classified documents and certain

PM dedicates Maze Garden and Miyawaki Forest in Ekta Nagar

• The PM dedicated Maze (labyrinth) Garden and


Miyawaki Forest in Ekta Nagar (formerly Kevadia),
Gujarat near the 182-meter high Statue of Unity. He
also inaugurated the OYO Ekta Houseboat, Gujarat’s
first houseboat service.

• This is the largest maze garden in India. It has been


built in the shape of ‘Yantra’ that emanates positive
energy.

• It spread across three acres with a pathway of 2,100


metres.

• Miyawaki Forest is named after the technique
developed by a Japanese botanist and ecologist Dr
Akira Miyawaki to plant saplings of various species
that are planted close to each other which develops
into a dense urban forest.

• The growth of plants is ten times faster using this


method resulting in the forest developed is thirty
times denser, and can be developed in just two to
three years as compared to at least 20 to 30 years
through the traditional method.

• OYO Ekta Houseboat is 90 feet long and 20 feet


wide with two well-appointed bedrooms, one dining
room, one drawing room, one kitchen, a front deck and
an upper observation deck.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Mangarh Dham as
a National Monument in the Banswara District of
Rajasthan.

• Mangarh holds special importance for the Bhil


community and other tribes of Rajasthan, Madhya
Pradesh, and Gujarat.

• During the freedom struggle where Bhils and other tribes


engaged in a long stand-off with British officials, when more
than 1.5 lakh Bhils rallied at Mangarh Hill on November 17,

initiative recently launched by Income Tax Department for
increasing greenery and creating micro forests

• It was launched on the occasion of National Unity Day(31st


Oct) to increase greenery and create micro forests.

• Under this initiative, the Income Tax Department resolves to


increase the green cover by planting trees and creating micro-
forests in and around Income Tax Department's buildings and
other public areas.

• The Miyawaki method, which was devised by Japanese


botanist Akira Miyawaki in the 1980s, is a technique to create
micro forests over small plots of land.

regulator- PARAKH.

• While ETS is well-known for conducting the TOEFL and GRE, which are
gateways to admission in the top universities of the world, AIR and ACER are
well-known for conducting research on behavioural and social science
domains.

• PARAKH - Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge


for Holistic Development - is also part of the National Education Policy (NEP)
2020 proposals.

• It will function as a standard-setting body for student assessment and


evaluation for all school boards in the country

• While the NCERT is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of


Education, PARAKH will act as a constituent unit of the NCERT.

• PARAKH will be tasked with - Setting norms, standards and guidelines for
student assessment and evaluation for all recognised school boards of
India.

• Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated North National
India’s first hyper-scale data centre "Yotta D1“

• The data centre will increase the data storage capacity of the country,
which until now stood at two percent only despite the fact that 1.5 billion
mobile phones and 650 million internet users in the world are from
India using 20 per cent of data. Yet for storage of data, we had to
look for centres abroad.

• Data Center Policy was notified in 2021. Under the policy, the work of
setting up of 04 Data Center Parks by various investors is currently
under process with an investment of more than Rs 15,950 crore.

13 states & 3 UTs Signs MoU with MoE for Upgradation
to PM-SHRI Schools MOU
• India’s 13 states and 3 Union Territories along with the Kendriya Vidyalaya
Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti have signed an memorandum
of understanding with The Ministry of Education to upgrade their
schools under the Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India (PM-
SHRI) scheme.

• The PM SHRI is a scheme under the MoE initiated for the development
of more than 14,500 schools across India towards quality education and
cognitive development of students

• The scheme will manage and strengthen the selected schools with the
help of the Central Government, State Government, UT Government, or
the local bodies.

• The scheme of PM SHRI schools is implemented as a Centrally


Sponsored Scheme with a total project cost of Rs 27,360 crore, out of
which, Rs. 18,128 crore will be the centre’s share for the period of 5
academic sessions (2022-23 to 2026-27).

103 million People Forcibly Displaced Worldwide,
Reveals UNHCR Report Report

• The number of people forcibly displaced from their homes due to


persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations and events
seriously disturbing public order globally surged to 103 million in the
first half of 2022, meaning that one in 77 people on Earth is
forcibly displaced

• According to the report, the total number of refugees and people in


need of international protection worldwide rose by 24 per cent
from 25.7 million at the end of 2021 to 32 million by mid-2022.

• At the end of June this year, more than half (56 per cent) of all
refugees were Syrian, Venezuelan or Ukrainian. In mid-2022.
Turkey hosted 3.7 million refugees, the largest refugee
population worldwide.

• Colombia was second with 2.5 million and Germany third with
2.2 million refugees, followed by Pakistan and Uganda (1.5 million
each).

Gujarat Government Set Up Committee To Implement
Uniform Civil Code(UCC) Committee

• Gujarat government will form a committee for the implementation of


the Uniform Civil Code in the state.

• High-level committee will be headed by a retired high court


judge. He also said that the committee will have three to four
members.

• In May 2022, Uttarakhand announced a committee for the


implementation of UCC headed by retired Supreme Court judge
Justice Ranjana Desai.

• Article 44 under the Directive Principles of State Policy has the


provision of a Uniform Civil Code for all citizens throughout the
country.

• Uniform Civil Code means there would be one law for the entire
country applicable to all religious communities in their personal
matters like inheritance, marriage, divorce, adoption, etc.

Jamshed J Irani Obituary

• The former MD of Tata Steel Jamshed J Irani who was also


famously known as the ‘Steel Man of India’ passed away, in
Jamshedpur

• Jamshed J Irani retired from the Board of Tata Steel back in June
2011.

• Jamshed J Irani began his career as a senior scientific officer in


1963 at the British Iron and Steel Research Association,
Sheffield.

• In 1968, Irani joined TATA Steel as an assistant to the director


(R&D). Jamshed J Irani became the Managing Director of TATA

RBI launched its first CBDC pilot project

• The Reserve Bank of India recently launched its first pilot
project to use central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the
wholesale market for secondary trade in government
securities (G-secs) beginning November 1.

• The pilot will include 9 banks:


• State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India,
HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank,
IDFC First Bank and HSBC.

• According to the RBI, the use case for this pilot is settlement
of secondary market transactions in G-Secs.

• Based on the learnings from this one, a second pilot project on


retail use of the digital rupee will begin in closed user groups
within a month. Future pilots will concentrate on other wholesale
transactions and cross-border payments.

(like the Indian rupee). Hence, a CBDC is the legal tender
issued by a central bank in a digital form.

• It would appear as a liability on a central bank’s balance


sheet. Many countries are exploring CBDC, with the Bahamian
Sand Dollar was the first to debut CBDC in 2020, while
Jamaica's JAM-DEX was the most recent.

• Currently, there is no regulation or any ban on the use of


cryptocurrencies in the country.

• In her 2022-23 Budget speech, the Finance Minister of India


announced the launch of the Digital Rupee - a central bank digital Reserve Bank of India
currency (CBDC) - from 2022-23. According to the RBI, e-Rupee Established:1st April 1935

SEBI extends deadline for direct
ETF transactions to May 1, 2023 National

• The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) extended the


deadline for implementation of the Rs 25 crore-threshold rule for direct
ETF (exchange-traded fund) transactions with asset management
companies (AMCs) to May 1, 2023.

• Initially, the rule was to come into force from July 1, 2022 and the same
was extended till November 1, 2022.

• To enhance liquidity in units of ETFs in stock exchange platforms,


direct transactions with AMCs will be facilitated for investors only
when the transaction amount is greater than Rs 25 crore.
