Father Chauvet's parents, resided in the Provence village of Pertuis. Noé Chauvet, his father,
was a merchant. Marguerite de la Forest was the name of his mother. Three sons, Louis,
Joseph, and Antoine, and two daughters, Jeanne, and Genevieve, made up the Chauvet
family. Despite having limited means, the Chauvet family was financially secure enough to
provide their children with a top-notch education.
Fr. Chauvet was ordained on March 13, 1688, in Avignon, and was assigned to the parish of
St. Martin in Levesville-la-Chenard in June 1694. He had a very rich library with 176 volumes,
17 of which were the Bible, the Gospels, epistles and works of the most illustrious Fathers of
the Church. His harpsichord and organ gave proof of his taste, delicacy, education, and
distinction.
The poor, the sick, the sinners, and Christians seeking a more fantastic life and a more
enlightening path were drawn to Father Chauvet and confided in him. In his parish, he dealt
with every kind of issue. He made it a point to be the indispensable advisor of the wealthy
despite being a friend of the poor.

Describe his leadership style?

The leadership style of Fr. Louis Chauvet is he wants to fight against the religious
torpor born of lassitude, misery and above all ignorance. In order for the kids to study and
understand more about Christian doctrine, take part in religious rituals more fully and
intimately, and engage in religion truly and properly, he wished to teach them how to read
and write. For him, this was the best essential solution to teach other people and give
knowledge why we should avoid evils that are on our surroundings. There is also creative
response that Fr. Louis Chauvet provide such as: He offered to pay for a school mistress by
renting the vacant land that had previously been granted to the parish; He built a house
with his own money that served as both a school for the kids and a residence for the school
mistress; He sought for young, devout girls who shared his worldview; Finally, with the help
of a Royal order establishing schools in the communities in 1698, Fr. In Levesville, Chauvet
and his daughters were successful in starting a school.
