INTRODUCTION
The very first thing man received from God after creation was a blessing. God knew the
effect of the absence of His blessing. God foresaw that humanity will amount to nothing
without His blessing. The truth of life is that; you can’t achieve much in life without the
blessing of God. Life comes with its many struggles and difficulties, and those who try to
use their strength to succeed, end up being frustrated, and achieving very little or nothing at
all.
Human life began with a blessing, that is why we need to understand and position ourselves
rightly, to continuously experience the divine blessings of God to live a life worth living.
The blessing of God is very significant and supernatural. After so many years when
humanity provoked God to cause rain to destroy the earth, God through Noah decided to
reaffirm the covenant between Him and humanity. He had to go back and do as He did in the
garden of Eden by proclaiming blessing on Noah, to restart the human generation. I kept
wondering why God had to bless Noah again, to restart the human generation, until I got an
in-depth understanding of the subject of God’s blessing.
Genesis 9:1
And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth
When God decided to go into covenant with Abraham, He opened and sealed the covenant
by blessing Abraham. When Abraham died, God renewed the generational covenant with his
son Isaac, by again blessing Isaac. Jacob also came on the scene and he did everything
possible to be blessed. The entire generation of the children of Israel up to today still
function under the covenant blessing established by God, between Him and their father
Abraham.
God at a point decided to raise a nation for Himself and that lead to Israel being chosen as
God’s beloved people. Looking back into the history of the children of Israel, we recall that,
God blessed them amidst other nations, and evidently, Israel till today is one of the most
powerful nations you can ever find.
There is something very noteworthy and supernatural about the blessing of God. The Old
Testament holds a record of countless people who received the blessing of the Lord, and they
lived exceptional lives.
In the New Testament, the first sermon Jesus preached on the mountain described the
fundamentals of becoming a blessing- Matthew 5:3- 11.
In Mark 10:16, Jesus laid His hands on His disciples and blessed them. During the departure
of our Lord Jesus Christ into heaven, the last thing He did on earth was to bless His disciples
again before ascending to heaven. Luke 24:50.

Jesus was a man who never did anything insignificant. He never did things that were not
approved by His father. If Jesus had to bless His disciples as God did in the Old Testament,
it shows that there is something very significant about the blessing of God.
Looking back into the old testament down to the New Testament, anybody, or nation that
received the blessing of the Lord magnificently did tremendous exploits beyond human
understanding.

The blessing of the Lord is a supernatural impartation of God’s power in the life of
humanity to overcome any other negative force on this earth. The mind of God is for every
child of His to experience the fullest of life’s benefit. There are so many curses in the world
beginning from the days of Adam. God devised His blessing to neutralize the curses of this
world and to sustain the human race. The blessing of the Lord is a means of empowerment
for great accomplishment. If there is anything that can help us, especially in these last days,
to succeed on this earth in all endeavors, it is the blessing of the Lord. Many people are
focusing on inappropriate things of life that is why they keep going down in life. Every
successful venture in life relies on the blessing of God. When the blessing of God is out of
your life, everything about your life changes negatively.

Many are confused to think that, a blessing is all about money. When you don’t understand
something, abuse is inevitable. It is in our own best interest as believers to fully understand
the reality of God’s blessing and most importantly, how to activate and live in it on earth.
Unfortunately, few people understand the blessing of God as they should. Understanding the
blessing of God will help us to appreciate the plan of God for our life. God’s blessing goes
beyond just having money. If we get the understanding about the blessing of God, it will
create the desire to pursue the blessing of God more than anything else on this earth.

In this book, you will be exposed to biblical revelation and teaching that will help you to
have a better understanding of God’s blessing and its effect. This book discusses biblical
wisdom for attracting the blessing of God and how to overcome hindrances to the blessing of
God.

I believe the revelation exposed in this book will increase your understanding on the subject
of God’s blessing, and help you to position yourself for the utmost release of the blessing of
God into all areas of your life. I want you to join me as we explore more about God’s
blessing.

What It Means to Be Blessed

What does it mean to be blessed? Because many believers don’t understand what it means to
be blessed, they fail to recognize the blessing of God in operation in their lives. Anything
you don’t recognize, you can’t appreciate and celebrate. Surprisingly, many people cannot
appreciate and are not thankful to God for His blessing upon their lives simply because, they
cannot realize it is the blessing of God manifesting in their life.
God expresses His blessing in different forms. We have to understand what it means to be
blessed so that we can equally recognize and appreciate the blessing of God in our lives.
Understanding what it means to be blessed will give you biblical reasons to pursue the
blessing of God. Understanding God’s blessing will help you, and give you reasons to be
appreciative to God. Psalm 103. It is for this reason I want to, first of all, help you to
understand and see the blessing of God as you need to, according to the bible.
So, what does it mean to be blessed?

1. To be blessed is to be fruitful and multiply.

Genesis 1: 28
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the
earth and subdue it…...”

Genesis 22:17
That in blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as
the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; …………

When the blessing of the Lord falls upon any man or thing or place, there is
multiplication and fruitfulness. In the account of God’s creation, He created animals
two by two i.e. a male and a female; so, He did to man. The bible says God blessed
His creation, which meant they were to increase from their initial state to become
many. Humanity started from Adam and Eve but today, we have about 7.8 billion
people living across the earth. No matter how small you may start, when the blessing
of the Lord comes upon it, it will never remain the same, it will increase, and it will
multiply and become plenty. It receives the anointing for growth.

Job 8:7
Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.

In Mark 6:33-41, the disciples became so confused when the time came to feed the
hungry multitude who had sat under the ministration of Jesus Christ for hours. They
only had five loaves of bread and two fishes which they even collected from a small
boy present at the meeting. How can this feed people of that capacity? More than five
thousand people to be precise. Truth to be spoken, the disciples became very
frustrated. How do we feed this large number of people with the little we have? Where
are we going to get money to feed such a large number of people? They had no option
than to ask Jesus to drive the people away to find their food. They lost their sense of
compassion because of lack. Scarcity and lack can defile your Christian virtues. Thank
God for the presence of Jesus, who understood the power of blessing. He invoked
God’s blessing upon the few loaves of bread and fishes and that served more than five
thousand people and the bible says twelve baskets of fragments of the bread and fishes
was leftover.

When the blessing of God is upon your life, the very few things in your life respond to
the miracle of multiplication and growth. The blessing of God has the potency of
breaking the power of smallness for your multiplication.

Another great evidence of a blessed man is fruitfulness. When you are fruitful,
whatever you do is productive. Anything you do yields benefit and produces results.
The blessing of God is the weapon that takes away barrenness. The blessing of the
Lord prevents you from laboring in vain. When you are blessed, you live in
abundance.

2. To be blessed is to have dominion.

Genesis 1: 28
“…………have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over
every living thing that moves on the earth”.

To have dominion is to have power, authority, or control over something or someone.

To have dominion is to rule or to be in charge. When the blessing of the Lord is upon
a man, it puts him in charge. It makes him a man of authority and power. The blessing
of the Lord gives you a spiritual position that makes you cause things to happen. It is
the blessing of the Lord that placed man in a hierarchy to rule over all creations.

Genesis 41:37-43
So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.
And pharaoh said to his servants, “can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is
the spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you
all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house,
and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the
throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand
and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a
gold chain around his neck. And he had him ride in the second chariot which he
had; and they cried out before him, “bow the knee!” so he set him over all the land
of Egypt.

A perfect illustration is the case of Joseph. A heathen king had complete and
immediate trust in Joseph, a foreigner and a former inmate of the prison. The blessing
of God favored Joseph so much that, he decided what happened in the land of Egypt.
He had the authority to control the wealth of Egypt. What made pharaoh take his
signet ring which bore the seal of authority from his finger and place it upon the finger
of Joseph, a foreigner? Joseph’s life demonstrates to us that, it’s not about your age,
academic qualification, stature, or beauty that can make you advance in life. Joseph
was very young compared to his senior brothers and other magicians, but the fate of
his family and the entire land of Egypt came into his hands. When the blessing of the
Lord is upon your life, it gives you dominion over your sphere of influence. In the
family, business, or wherever you find yourself, you decide what happens.

This is how prodigious the blessing of God can make you; to be a man of authority.

I see you manifesting the blessing of God. You will dominate in any area of influence
in Jesus name!

3. To be blessed is to have a great name.

Genesis 12: 2
I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; …

Proverbs 22:1
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches………...

Names are very important because of the spiritual impact it carries. Jabez eventually
lived according to the meaning of his name. When Jacob received the blessing of the
Lord by wrestling with the angel, the best thing that happened to him was his name
being changed from Jacob to Israel. Gen. 32:28

When the blessing of the Lord is upon you, it makes you famous without any effort of
advertisement. All over the world today, among the various religions, everybody
wants to be associated with Abraham, Why?

In the days of Jesus Christ, the bible says on most occasions He prevented people
from spreading the news about Him, but the more He tried, the more His fame spread.
It’s obvious how people are selling their souls to the devil to be famous. When you
receive the blessing of the Lord, your name carries respect and honor. Wherever your
name is mentioned, it carries authority and power capable of opening doors and
accessing opportunities ordinary men cannot access. When God blesses you, your
name carries a positive influence. Your name draws multitude together because it has
been soiled with an anointing of attraction. A blessed man’s name terrifies his enemies
and opposers. Your name alone puts fear on the wicked and their forces.

1 Chronicles 17:21
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to
redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by
driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?

No power can stand at the mention of the Name Jesus. When you mention ‘Jesus’,
something happens, because it carries power and authority. This is exactly what the
blessing of God can do in your life.

Philippians 2:9-11
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above
every name: That at the mention of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in
heaven, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the father.

4. To be blessed is to have all-round success.

Genesis 24:1
And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham
in all things.
It is a wonderful thing to experience the blessing of God. God blessed Abraham so
much that everything about him was a success. The blessing of the Lord has a divine
agenda of ensuring that, whatever you do becomes successful. Your business, your
ministry, your marriage, your calling; you have all-round success. Nothing about you
fails. When you are blessed, nothing related to you can fail. That is impossible.
Life is very complex. A lot of things come together for a single thing to work out
successfully. As you read this book, a lot of things had to be done to let you have the
copy you are reading. Some people experience certain aspects of their life working but
other areas are a shame and disgrace. It is the blessing of the Lord that makes
everything around you and about you work out successfully.
It’s such a beautiful thing to receive the blessing of God. May the blessing of the Lord
cause you to experience all-round success in Jesus’ name!

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in
the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law
of the Lord, and his law doth he meditates day and night. And he shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also
shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

5. To be blessed is to become great.

Genesis 24:35
And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath
given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and
maidservants, and camels, and asses.

God’s blessing accompanies a man with greatness. It is only the blessing of the Lord
that can make you great on earth.
When a person is said to be great, it means he is a person of significance with
prodigious accomplishment. The blessing of the Lord endows a person with
extraordinary powers and an uncommon gift that can make the person accomplish
enormous results.

When God makes you great, it is characterized by true humility. The blessing of God
imbibes in you a servanthood heart and the more you serve, the greater your greatness.
Moses was a very great man but was very humble. Greatness with pride can’t be
classified as a blessing from God.

6. To be blessed is to be immunized against Curses.

Number 24:10
And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together:
and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou
hast altogether blessed them these three times.

The intrusion of the Israelite alarmed Balak, king of Moab which made him call upon
the services of Balaam, who had a reputation for powerful divining. Balak wanted
Balaam to put a curse on the Israelite to stop their progress. The king wanted a curse
upon the Israelites, but it turned out to be a blessing on three occasions.
The blessing of the Lord induces immunity to curses. It is a spiritual vaccination that
empowers a blessed man to overcome every effect of curses. No matter how hard
Balaam tried to curse the children of Israel, the blessing of the Lord served as a
vaccine, stimulated the spiritual immune system to recognize the curse, and eventually
destroyed it.
When you carry the blessing of the Lord, no amount of curse can operate in your life.
Anywhere you enter that is cursed, your presence takes out the curse because the
viruses and pathogens of the curse will be handled by the supernatural power of God
emanating from the blessing upon your life.

1 Samuel 17:43-44
And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves?
And the Philistines cursed David by his gods. And the Philistine said to David, come
to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the
field.

Like the case of David and the children of Israel, the enemy is mad to see us succeed.
One tool the devil and his allies use is to invoke curses to hinder and stop the progress
of the children of God. Why did goliath curse David with the gods of his land? Curses
have the power to disarm and stop you from progressing the way God wants you to.
Hadn’t it been the blessing of God upon David and the Israelite, they would have
suffered from the effect of the curse meted out against them. When you are blessed, no
volume of curses can stop you! Halleluiah.

7. To be blessed is to receive great deliverance.

Psalm 34:19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them
all.

Joshua 24:9-10
Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose to make war against Israel, and
sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you. But I would not listen to
Balaam; therefore, he continued to bless you. So, I delivered you out of his hand.

The devil is very tactical and wicked. He attacks us in diverse ways to test our strength
and faith in God. Constantly, we are afflicted and attacked by the devil. He comes in
all manner of forms; sickness, disasters, accidents, financial difficulties, family
breakdown, business failure, and others. The blessing of the Lord guarantees our
deliverance from all manner of afflictions. No matter how hard the devil will try to
enslave us and keep us in bondage, God’s deliverance power is available to bring us
out. God is a specialist in delivering His children whom He has blessed from all
manner of schemes of the devil. The children of Israel who were under the covenant
blessing were fought against by other nations on several occasions. As long as God
was on their side, He gave them victory in all. God delivered them from the attacks of
their enemies. A perfect example is how He delivered them from bondage in the land
of Egypt and through the red sea and led them to fight many battles and finally
brought them into the promised land.

David was a man who was surrounded by innumerable evils. The bible says the
troubles around him were more than the hairs on his head. Can you imagine that! His
enemies on several occasions sort to bring confusion and destruction into his life, but
the beauty of it is that God delivered him out of it all.

Psalm 69:4
They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that
would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty……...

Have you wondered why in cases of a motor accident, many will lose their life and
probably, only one person’s life is spared? There are several occasions God will speak
to me on certain issues and as I obey, it saves me from great problems that could have
ended my life. A blessed man receives great deliverance from the trap and strategies of
the devil. This is the reason why the devil has not been able to overcome the church
despite all the afflictions and accusations against the church. The church is blessed.
The gate (strategies) of hell cannot prevail.

Matthew 16:18
“………and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it.”
God delivered Daniel from Lion’s den. He delivered Joseph from the pit without
water. He delivered the three Hebrew men from the furnace. Praise God! God is on
your side. I see God positioning you for a great deliverance from all your troubles.

8. To be blessed is to have all round- peace.

Psalm 29:11
The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with
peace.

Peace is the epitome of all blessings. The peace a blessed man has is not just literally
the lack of war. It goes beyond that. Divine peace brings harmony both from and
through all sides. The blessing of the Lord brings peace which has the power to
remove burdens from our soul, spirit, and body. The dangers, worries, and problems of
life are handled and disannulled by the blessing of the Lord.
Today, a lot of people are living in conditions that make the world look like its
twisting and turning. The minds of many are in turmoil because everything around
them is falling apart.

Amid all pressures of life, the blessing of the Lord brings peace. Even though the
world is full of chaos, the blessing of God can help us find peace in the midst of it. I
see the blessing of the Lord removing every occasion of frustration and you are
receiving peace of mind to run the race of life in the name of Jesus!

Numbers 6:23-26
“………………………. the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee
peace”.

9. To be blessed is to be divinely protected.

Psalm 41:2
The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the
earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

A close study in the book of Psalm 91 reveals that there are terrors by night, arrows
that fly by day, the pestilence that walketh in darkness, and destruction that wastes at
noonday. Physically, Spiritually, Emotionally, mentally; the devil today is blowing all
kinds of evil winds and demonic attacks against the saint for our life to be as miserable
as possible.
Numbers 23:23
“Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination
against Israel: …………………….”

Psalm 41:2
The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the
earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

The blessing of the Lord ensures you are completely covered from all manner of evil
and all the devices of the enemy. No enchantment, no divination, no witchcraft
practice will be able to pull a strand of your hair.
The devil will strike and attack with problems, plagues, scourges of the tongues such
as unwanted criticism, unfounded lies, rumors, and others but one thing is sure, like,
Job, a blessed man is completely shielded by the arms of the almighty God. You are
the apple of God’s eyes. God will keep you safe from any arrow thrown at you by the
enemy.

Deuteronomy 32:10
He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him
about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
Zechariah 2 :8
For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations
which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye

Psalm 17:8-9
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, from the
wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

10. To be blessed is to live in a state of divine health.

3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as
thy soul prospereth.

A blessed man enjoys adequate sound health. The blessing of the Lord serves as an
antidote that keeps a blessed man and does not allow any sickness or disease to afflict
him. Even when you fall sick, it won’t kill you. You receive constant healing.

Exodus 23:25
And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water;
and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Divine health takes away sickness and disease from your life, which signifies long life.
Let’s take, for example, Moses. Consider the number of people he was leading. The
blessing of God upon his life gave him sound health; he never suffered hypertension,
ulcer, or any form of sickness. Even at his old age, his eyes never became dim, he was
not weak, and he was strong. A blessed man’s health never decreases. May the
blessing of the Lord keep you in divine health. Amen!

11. To be blessed is to be highly favored.

Luke 1:28
And the Angle came in unto her, and said, hail, thou art highly favoured, the lord is
with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Psalm 5:12
For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with
a shield.
God’s favor is poured on humanity indiscriminately. A blessed man receives a special
favor from God. God does not look at your age, qualifications, experience, wealth, or
fame. Favor is a choice from God. A blessed man is compassed by the favor of God.

Psalm 16:6
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

The lines fell on pleasant places for Mary. The blessing of the Lord unlocked the favor
of God upon her. Among the countless women across the globe, she was selected to
bring forth our Lord Jesus.
Divine favor makes you to be selected among others. Favor singles you out of a
crowd. It doesn’t matter the multitude that is gathered, like blind Bartimaeus, the favor
of God will bring you out for you to be glorified and your condition changed.
The favor of God upon your life makes you become a man of difference. While others
are failing, it makes you succeed.

Genesis 39:2-3
And the Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the
house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him,
and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

Take for example Joseph, when he got into Potiphar’s house in Egypt, the hand of God
blessed him. Though as a slave, his master witnessed everything has changed,
therefore committed all that he had into his hands. It is favor that carried him from the
prison to the palace.

David wasn’t the only son of his father, but when Saul fell from the grace of Kingship,
he was picked from the bush, just as a shepherd boy to be a king.
The blessing of God kindles, which fuels the favor of God and makes all things work
out for your good. All your needs are adequately met. Your steps are divinely ordered
and amid hardship, your ways are smoothened. When others are going through hassles
of curses, the blessing speaks for you.
May you come under the strong cloud of divine favor from today. Shout Amen!

12. To be blessed is to receive empowerment for divine wealth.

Proverbs 10: 22
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Deuteronomy 8:18
“……………...for it he that giveth thee power to get wealth………...”
I have seen people doing like three jobs a day, laboring so hard and tirelessly to make
ends meet. The world thinks that wealth comes through sweat and hard labor which
comes with its accompanying sorrow and toil. I don’t undermine the power of hard
work. The bible even speaks against laziness but true wealth is the one that God’s
blessing brings.
God never desires for you to be broke. Poverty is the work of the devil. The devil uses
poverty as a tool to dysfunctional the destiny of humanity, that is why Jesus came to
die poor so that we may be rich and destroy the work of the devil.

1 John 3:8
“……….. for this purpose, the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the
works of the devil……….”

2 Corinthians 8:9
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for
your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest proper……even as thy soul
prospereth.

It’s rather unfortunate you sometimes hear people talking like, “I have connections”,
“I am educated”, “I am very hardworking” so I will prosper. I don’t dispute the fact
that all these are necessary for wealth creation but my dearly beloved, the word of God
can never lie, without the blessing of the Lord, you can toil and work as hard as you
can but you will have nothing to show. A blessed man flows in riches without toil. The
blessing of the Lord makes all your needs to be met. You have supernatural provision
and abundance which the world cannot understand and become envious, like the case
of Isaac and Job.

In this era of the world where there is a lack and economic mess, the blessing of the
Lord is the solution, not the government or the papers you carry from the university or
how smart you think you are. Many are putting their trust in a particular government
to change their economic status only to be left disappointed. Don’t pay attention to
what is happening, get connected to the blessing, it will make you wealthy. When
others’ businesses are failing, a blessed man’s own will work. When there are no
possible opportunities for enhancing your economic status, God opens a blessed man’s
eyes to see opportunities. He did it for Isaac and Jacob; He can do it for you too. Get
connected to the source of true prosperity through the covenant of blessing.
13. To be blessed is to have many good works.

John 10:32
Jesus answered them, many good works have I shewed you from my father………...

The blessing of the Lord makes you have deeds that are of moral excellence and
brings much divine benevolence. We see in the life of Jesus that, the blessing of God
empowered Him to do mighty good works such as healing the sick, cleansing lepers,
the deaf hearing, giving sight to the blind, causing the dump to speak ,and other great
miracles.
In Genesis 41:46-57, 47:13-26, we see another demonstration of a blessed man doing
many good works; Joseph in the land of Egypt. The blessing of the Lord gave him
much wisdom and insight to create a long-term agricultural policy and infrastructure
to keep the whole land of Egypt and other nations during the famine. Looking at the
magnitude of his work, he did much of economic strategizing, building, handling of
transactions, real estate, record keeping, trade, and others. It takes only a blessed man
to have much wisdom for such mighty works. This is the more reason why many
leaders can’t accomplish much, because, empowerment, that is, the blessing of the
Lord is lacking from their life. Many have failed in the pursuit of their assignment
because the blessing of God is disconnected from their life. If you desire to do many
mighty works and accomplish greater things for God, get connected to the source; the
blessing of God.

14. To be blessed is to be shown much mercy and kindness.

Romans 4:6-8
Even as David also described the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth
righteousness without works, saying blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute
sin.

Mercy is a gift of blessing. Mercy can be categorized as a blessing. It is the heart and
the very nature of God.
There is a story of a man of God I heard some time ago. When this man of God was in
secondary school, he formed a clique of four boys with the sole motive of teaching
them how to smoke, drink and womanize. He was noted to be very notorious and that
somehow made him very famous. As at the time he completed secondary school, he
had trained 20 boys how to smoke, drink and womanize. The unfortunate incidence of
this story is that most of these boys he trained got mad and others had died as at when
he was sharing his story.
As I speak with you now, he is now a man of God winning souls for God. What made
this man receive the mercy of God that made him repent from his evil ways, while
others have been wasted and condemned to hell? The blessing of God directed God’s
favor towards him and the grace of God found him.

Romans 9 :15-16
……… I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on
whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that
runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Jeremiah 13:14
And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together,
saith the Lord: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

I wouldn’t be wrong to say; in as much as God is a merciful God, he extends His

mercy by choice. That doesn’t make Him a partial God but invariably it becomes a
means to fulfill His purpose.
When God hardened the heart of Pharaoh against the children of Israel, it was a means
to destroy him totally because of his un-repented wickedness. Like pharaoh, men
harden their hearts by sinning and it is only the blessing of grace that softens the
human sinful heart to turn away from their evil deeds and live a righteous life.
God is not obliged to show us mercy, so He does no injustice in withholding it from
us. When He judges the other, no one can question Him, but when He decides to show
us mercy and kindness which saves us from the wrath of His judgment, it’s such a
great blessing.
It’s quite disheartening how many believers have undermined their salvation and see
the ungodly us being more prosperous and better than them. We need to understand
that, God has given up the ungodly who refuse to repent to their judicial blindness and
hardness of heart with satan controlling their life. God’s mercy is a blessing!

Isaiah 6:10
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their eyes heavy, and shut their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their
heart, and convert, and be healed.

15. To be blessed is to be feared by your enemies.

Exodus 23:27
I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt
come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.
Deuteronomy 2:25
This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations
that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble,
and be in anguish because of thee.

Joshua 2:9-11
And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that
your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because
of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you,
when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that
were on the other side of Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as
soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any
more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in
heaven above, and in earth beneath.

The blessing of the Lord makes a blessed man to be feared by his enemies. History
reveals that Israel contested with so many enemies whose motive was to destroy Israel
thoroughly. Starting from the Egyptians to the Amalekites, down to the Philistines and
others, they wrestled with the Israelites on several occasions; it was only God who
kept them from destruction. The enemies of Israel were so cruel and oppressive, often
more numerous than Israel, very cunning, and were very determined to destroy Israel.
God through the Abrahamic covenant, had chosen Israel as His blessed people. He
performed wondrous works among them and with them to the point where their
enemies became afraid of them despite their strength and cunning tactics. Imagine
how God made a way for them in the Red Sea and destroyed the Egyptians.
God does great and unexplainable things with the man He has blessed and that poses
great fear in the hearts of his enemies.
The blessing of the Lord makes your enemies to be terrified by your presence. Their
heart quakes when they see you and hear anything that concerns you.
A blessed man carries the presence of God. The presence of God is terrifying to the
devil and his cohorts which they can’t stand. The blessing of God put His fear on a
blessed man which is easily recognized by his enemies.
In 1 Samuel 4:3-8, the ark brought into the camp of the Israelite created much fear for
the philistines. It is sad to say that many believers don’t know who they are. The
philistines despite the shout of the Israelite gathered courage and fought the Israelite.
That is the tactics of the enemy. He possesses himself in a way that puts fear in us but
truthfully, he fears us. His threats disarm many believers from fighting and
overcoming him. He is like a roaring lion but never a lion. The Lion of the tribe of
Judah lives inside our spirit as believers.
We are not to be afraid of our enemies. God is with any man who carries and operates
under His covenant blessings. We are a terror to our enemies and they will forever fear
our presence because of the blessing of God. Hallelujah!!!
16. To be blessed is to have wisdom and revelation.

Proverbs 3:13 NHEB

Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.
Jesus was full of wisdom. Those who listened to Him were amazed at the
demonstration of divine wisdom.
Luke 21:15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be
able to gainsay nor resist.

God is the true source of all wisdom. Solomon displayed so much wisdom that, he can
be attributed to being one of the wisest men to ever live.
Through wisdom and revelation, you will be able to achieve much with excellence.
Revelation gives direction and vision (Purpose) for life. Through wisdom, you will
have an understanding of life events which ultimately gives you confidence for life.
When God blesses you, He gives you the wisdom for discretion and sound judgment
like the case of Solomon and the two women.
The wisdom and the revelation from God make you give good counsel and equip you
with ideas that make you wealthy. With wisdom, you become a builder and make you
have dominion and great establishment.

Ecclesiastes 2:13
Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.

Ecclesiastes 7:12
For wisdom is defence and money is defence: but the excellency of knowledge is
that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
FACTS ABOUT GOD’S BLESSING

1. God is the source of all blessings.

James 1:16-17
Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from
above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning.

God blesses us in so many ways. Every good thing comes from the Lord. It is very
important to acknowledge God as the only source and being who can bless a man.
God uses different mediums to bring His blessing, but He is the originator and
fulfiller of the promised blessing. The fulfillment of any form of blessing is
dependent on God only. You can’t manipulate God to bless you.
He blesses a man who follows His principles. An obedient man.
The promised blessing of God rests on nothing else than the faithfulness,
genuineness, and righteousness of God.

2. The blessing of the Lord can be noticed and acknowledged.

Isaiah 61:8-9
For the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their
work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. And their seed
shall be known among the gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that
see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord hath
blessed.

To be noticed is to be recognized, to be detected, to be observed, or to be seen. The

blessing of God cannot be hidden. The effect of the blessing will show for all to see
and say this is indeed God but nothing else. People eventually seeing the happenings
in your life will come to terms and admit that the progress of your life is nothing but
the blessing of God. No matter what you do, everything about you, associated with the
blessing of God will make a difference and that will bring a distinction in your life and
everything around you. People from far and near will see the manifestation of the
blessing. The blessing of the Lord cannot be hidden. Once you appear, something
extraordinary happens. Get this fact straight, you can’t hide a blessed man. Never!

3. Blessings attract hatred and envy.

Genesis 26:12-29
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold;
and the Lord blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued
prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks
and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. Now the Philistines
had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of
Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth. And Abimelech said
to Isaac,’ go away from us, for you are much mightier than we’. Then Isaac
departed from there and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt
there. And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days
of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death
of Abraham. He called them by names which his father had called them. Also
Isaac’s servant dug in the valley, and found a well of running water there.
But the herdsmen of Gerar quarrelled with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying `The
water is ours’. So he called the name of the well Esek, because they quarrelled
with him. Then they dug another well, and they quarrelled over that one also.
So he called its name Sitnah. And he moved from there and dug another well,
and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he
said` For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the
land” ……………………………. Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar
with Ahuzzath, one of his friends, and Phichol the commander of his army.
And Isaac said to them` Why have you come to me, since you hate me and
have sent me away from you?

The story of Isaac in the land of Gerar exemplifies this point. The blessing of the Lord
upon Isaac made him so prosperous. He had possessions of flocks and herds and a
great number of servants. While others sowed and didn’t bear fruits, the bible says for
Isaac he sowed and reaped a hundredfold the same year. He became very mighty in a
dry land and he even dug out wells during the dry season.
Notice what happened to him. The bible says the Philistines started envying him. They
envied him relentlessly in a manner that, they stopped all the well he had dug. The
Philistines couldn’t stand his blessing; Abimelech the King had to drive him away
from their midst.

When the blessing of the Lord is upon you, it follows you everywhere you go. Moving
from the land of the Philistines he found himself in the valley of Gerar, and by the
same anointing of the blessing, he started digging out his father’s well. The herdsmen
of Gerar quarrelled with the herdsmen of Isaac and took the well from him. Why?
They were simply envious and jealous of him.

When men begin to notice the blessing of God on your life, get ready, people will be
jealous and envious of you. Several attacks will be leashed against you. Evil speaking
will be targeted to you. Oftentimes, people will rise against you with a common
motive of trying to destroy what you have labored to build.
It is not surprising, why some religions and governments hate the church without
reason. They are jealous and envious and can’t stand the level of manifestation of the
church. The blessing of the Lord will attract much persecution and suffering. Some
people will wish you dead and always wake up with the desire of seeing you losing
everything.
Why did Satan attack Job? No one could be compared to Job in the east.
Job 1:1-3
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect
and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. And there were born unto
him seven sons and three daughters. His substance also was seven thousand sheep,
and three thousand camels and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she
asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of the all the
men of the east.

Satan came after Job because of the blessing of God upon his life. Don’t be surprised
when you go through much affliction because of the blessing of the lord. Behave like
Isaac, he persevered, and finally, Abimelech who drove him away realized they can’t
fight whom God has blessed. Continue to be faithful and prayerful, your haters will
surrender and you shall rule over them.

4. The blessing of God is contagious.

Genesis 22:18
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou has
obeyed my voice.

Most often when we hear the word contagious, what comes to mind is the
spread of diseases when we come into contact with people who are suffering
from a contractible disease. There is a popular saying that, a bad nut can affect
all others. It’s a belief that the emotional or mental state of an individual can
spread to others. What a person carries can spread or influence person to person.

Genesis 39:5
And it came to pass from the time that he had made overseer in his house, and
over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s
sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and
in the field.
The Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake. The Lord was with
Joseph. God gave prosperity to Potiphar and blessing within his household
through the hands of Joseph.
The race of humanity connected to the covenant of Abraham will continue to be
a blessing.
Genesis 28:14
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to
the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and
thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

Blessings are contagious. When a man carrying the blessing of God upon his
life appears, everybody will be affected by the blessing as long as they leave in
obedience to God. It’s not only diseases that are contagious, not only curses are
contagious; God’s blessings are also contagious. When you get connected to a
blessed man, it will rob on you too.

5. The blessing of God, response to the Law of Location and Position.

Genesis 26:1-6
And there was a famine in the land, beside the first that was in the days of
Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, go not down into Egypt; dwell in the
Land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and
will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries,
and I will perform the oath which I swore unto Abraham thy father; And I will
make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed shall
all the nations of the earth be blessed; because that Abraham obeyed my voice,
and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. And Isaac
dwelt in Gerar.

In the realms of the Spirit, positioning, location, and placement are of utmost
importance. Anytime God wants to change a man’s story, He first of all changes
his position and location. Fishes are good to go in the water but will only survive a
few minutes on the land.
Your position and location can determine the flow of God’s blessing into your life.
When Isaac decided to go to Egypt because of the famine, God had to stop him and
admonish him to stay in Gerar.

Deuteronomy 12:26
Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto
the place which the Lord shall choose:
There is a specific place God chooses. In most African countries, many try to use
all sorts of means to seek greener pastures in other European countries. It isn’t
everybody who is purposed to make it in Europe. It isn’t every church that can be
of a blessing to you. It isn’t every company that you work with that can be a
blessing to you. We must know where God wants us to be at every particular time.
Where you position yourself in life plays a major role in every success story. Never
forget this, your position in life is a very important determinant to the receiving of
God’s blessing in your life.
God blessed Ruth with Boaz when she left Moab to Bethlehem. What would have
become of Ruth if she had not left Moab to Bethlehem. I am very sure she would
have lost the blessing of being a partaker in the prophetic coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Her name wouldn’t have been in the bible. We wouldn’t have known
anything about her. Many people have not yet encountered their helpers of destiny
because they are in the wrong place.
The entire family of Joseph escaped the famine that hit the whole world because of
the position of Joseph in Egypt.
God had to call Abram out of his father’s house before initiating the covenant
blessing with him. There is a place purposed by God to release His blessings. Don’t
be deceived by the multitude. Find out where God has decided to bless you and get
yourself there.

6. Blessings are stronger than curses.

Gen. 12: 3
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth
thee…………

There is much power in the blessing of the Lord than a curse, that is why you should
never curse those who have been blessed by God. The revelation behind blessing and
cursing was given to Abraham by God and was handed down to the children of Israel
through Abraham. Balak tried to curse the children of Israel to bring harm upon them,
because of the fear he had for them. Due to the mighty things he heard God did with
their lives, for example, crossing the red sea and defeating other nations, he desired
harm for them, but it failed. This is because; the children of Israel carried the promise
of blessing, so the curse pronounced upon them rather was turned into a blessing.
Numbers 24:9
“…………. Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you”

God’s word does not fail; it will surely be accomplished. Anyone who blesses those
blessed by God will be blessed. Anyone that curses those blessed by God verbally or
through their actions instantly curses themselves.
Let’s take the children of Israel for example, they are the makeup of the Abrahamic
covenant. They are a blessed nation.
In the second half of the 13th Century, the Jews in England suffered severe
persecution and were even banned from England in 1290. It was not until 1657 that
the Protestant leader of England, Oliver Cromwell, allowed the Jews to return.
England immediately prospered as a nation. The pro- Jewish politics were set forth by
the Dutch stadtholder William III, who then became king of England. England then
grew to be one of the most powerful kingdoms the world has ever known. At the
height of its power, in 1917, England gave the Jews the right to return to the
Promised Land, which at that time was called Palestine. That right was later officially
recognized by the League of Nations and the United Nations. However, a few years
later, England betrayed the Jews by choosing sides with the hostile Arabs. As a result,
England went downhill fast and in 1956 the British prime minister signed “over to
you” to the president of the United States. Since then the United States has become
the most powerful country in the world. A researcher recently reports that there are
more than twenty cases in which a disaster in the United States coincided with
American pressure on Israel to give land to the Arabs. “I will bless those that bless
you and curse those that curse you” is a historical pattern that continues today.
Look at Joseph and his brethren. No matter what they did against him, he continued
to be a blessing. Watch out for those who manifest the presence of God’s blessings
upon them. Don’t fight them else you are digging your own grave. Every Curse or
wickedness you met out against them will return upon your head. Bless them in
words and in-kind, and you will also be a blessing.

Zechariah 2:8
For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent me after glory, to the nations which
plunder you: for he who touches you touches the apple of his eyes. For surely I will
shake my hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then
you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.

7. Blessing is a choice. You can decide to be a blessing or not.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28
Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; a blessing if ye obey the
commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: and a
curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I
command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

God loves us and desires to bless us. He has set forth a blessing and a curse. It
depends on the choice you make. God will never force His blessing upon a man.
God spoke through Moses to the nation of Israel to review with them everything
that had happened and everything they had been told. He was giving them a
choice. Obedience to the Lord will lead you to His blessing. One example or area
of choice that the bible speaks about is the area of tithing.

Malachi 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house,
and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the
windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room
enough to receive it.
The passage is very clear. Tithers will be blessed by God and non- tithers will only
have to face the reality of their difficult economic times. It’s a choice, take it or
leave it. Disobedience is a dangerous tool that can stop your growth. You attract
and choose His blessing by obedience to His word. You can choose to disobey and
reject His blessing.

8. There are more references to blessings than there are to curses in the bible.

The bible lots of biblical verses which have a direct link to blessings than curses. This
is a proof that it is God’s desire for His children to be blessed.

9. Blessings can be cursed by God if we don’t honor Him.

Malachi 2:2
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith
the lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings:
yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

God can reverse His blessings and turn them into curses if we fail to honor Him and lay His
blessings to heart. If God said this to the children of Israel, it should speak to us that, God
can truly reverse His blessing. Learn to honour God with your blessing to avoid it been
cursed by God

REASONS WHY GOD WANT TO BLESS YOU

God has a reason for whatever He does. He wants to bless you because of some reason.
There are many things He wants you to accomplish through His blessing. Don’t ever seek
God’s blessing with ungodly reasons. Don’t forget God knows the heart of every man. The
following are some of the reasons why God wants to bless you.

1. God wants you to be the head and not the tail.

Deuteronomy 28:13
And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only; and
thou shalt not be beneath; ………...

God desires that you triumph over any situation of life. His desire is for you to be on top and
not below. The mind of God is for you to be in charge of everything around you and prosper
in all affairs. He wants you to be a person of significance. He does not want you to be
dragging behind in life with failure encircling you. That is the reason why He wants to bless
you, to be the head and not the tail.

2. God wants you to be a blessing to others.

Genesis 12:2-3
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great;
and thou shalt be a blessing; And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that
curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

God called you to bless you so you can be a blessing to others. He wants to make you a
channel of His blessing. God wants to expose His comfortability, peace, prosperity,
salvation, healing, and loving-kindness to others through you. His mind is not for you to
keep the blessing to yourself, but to extend it to others.
Has God blessed you? Are you a blessing to your church, family, friends, community, and
the poor?
Have the understanding; God pours His blessing on us so that we will slosh it over on others
who are starving and dying without hope. Let us behave like the four lepers when they had
abundance; they thought of the other people who were also starving and were in need. They
had to run to the city and inform them where they can find abundance to satisfy their needs.
Don’t forget, you are blessed to be a blessing to others.

2 Kings 7:9
Then they said one to another, we do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we
hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now
therefore come, that we may go and tell king’s household.

3. God wants you to build and promote His kingdom.

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you

Nehemiah 2:20
Then answered I them, and said unto them, the God of heaven, he will prosper us;
therefore, we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor
memorial, in Jerusalem.

God wants to bless you so you can be used to build His kingdom. God had a vision for
giving the wealth of the Egyptians to the children of Israel. God wanted the children of Israel
to build Him a tabernacle in the wilderness. He wants to bless you so you can help tell
nations about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Millions are dying to hell. The souls of men are
perishing. That is the reason God wants to bless you, for you to be an instrument through
whom the gospel can be preached and the kingdom of God can be built. Support the work of
God financially, with your time, energy, and everything God has blessed you with.

4. God wants to reward you for your service.

1 Timothy 5:18
For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, the
labourer is worthy of his reward.

Hebrews 11:6
………… for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him.

Exodus 23: 25
And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I
will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

God blesses a man who decides to follow him. He rewards those that serve and honor him.
His blessing is a reward to those who seek him and follow him. God is not a wicked God, to
watch you labor for him in vain. God sees in secret and rewards openly. He will never forget
your work and your labor for Him. Here on earth and in heaven to come, He will bless you to
appreciate your commitment to Him. Continue in your obligation to Him. He will shower
you with the reward of His blessing.

5. God wants to demonstrate His love towards you.

Isaiah 30:18
And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he
be exalted, that he may have mercy upon: for the Lord is a God of judgement: blessed are
all they that wait for him.

We desire so much to experience God and His power in our life. Our flesh and our sinful
nature do not guarantee nor permit us to have God’s blessing. Despite our evil ways, God
continuously shows us mercy and blesses us with all spiritual and physical blessings.
Nothing can explain this apart from the love of God. Whiles, we were yet sinners, His
blessing of salvation reached us, and today we can be counted worthy to be called sons and
daughters of God. God wants to bless you as a way of proving how He loves you, not
because of your righteousness or holiness. The rain of God’s blessing keeps pouring on us
despite our secret and evil ways because He wants to demonstrate His love to us.

6. God wants to set a difference between those who serve Him and those who don’t
serve Him.
Malachi 3:14-18

Ye have said, it is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance,
and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts? And now we call the proud
happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even
delivered. Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord
hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that
feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord
of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels: and I will spare them, as a man spareth
his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and
the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

The difference between those who serve Him and those who serve Him not must be clear.
God wants to distinguish those who serve Him from the rest. The difficulties and hardship of
life are not meant for those who serve Him. God’s blessing is what will draw the parameter
and make the difference to be known. Like He did for Isaac in the land of Gerar, even when
there was drought, the blessing of God made Isaac sow and reap hundredfold the same year,
whiles those who served Him not continued in their turmoil. You can’t serve God and suffer
like the rest. He wants to draw the line.

7. God wants you to live in abundance.

Psalm 107:38
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to
decrease

Deuteronomy 8:7-9
For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of
fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and
vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; A land wherein
thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack anything in it; a land whose
stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

It is the plan of God from creation for humanity to live in abundance. The blessing of God
invokes supernatural power that terminates lack and provides an abundance of resources for
you to flourish in life. Because of the promised blessing of God to the Israelites, He took
them to the land that continually flowed with milk and honey. The mind of God for you is
not to only manage to survive, but have every good thing that pertains to life and godliness
in abundance.

8. God wants you to escape the curses of this world.

The blessing of God has the power to neutralize curses. In Genesis 2:15-17, God cursed our
first parents due to their disobedience. Adam and Eve were eventually cast out of Eden,
where there was much abundance for life. Humanity ever since has lived under so many
curses and the only way out is through the blessing of God which begins with the gift of
salvation. The blessing of God is much stronger than curses and can overpower and
overcome every form of curses exiting on this world. When you live in obedience according
to the word of God, it invokes the blessing of God upon your life. You escape the curse of
this life that places a barrier to the progress and wellbeing of mankind.

Deuteronomy 28:15
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to
observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that
all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee

God’s desire is for you to walk in His covenant blessing, and break the limitation of curses
of life. We have to get to the point of having a strong desire for the blessing of God. We
should be willing to pay any price like Jacob did to break the curses of life and induce the
blessing of God in our life.

9. God wants to demonstrate His nature through you.

Genesis 1:21-22
………...and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, be fruitful, and
multiply, and fill the waters in the seas and let fowl multiply in the earth

Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing
that moveth upon the earth.

The first thing God did was to bless His creation after making them. Every living thing
including animals and trees were blessed. It is God’s characteristic to bless. He is the
epitome of blessing.
God is a Spirit. He can do nothing on this earth without the permission of a man. He has no
flesh to operate on this earth. For Him to demonstrate who He is on this earth, He needs a
man. He needs you. He needs you to show and prove to the world that He has the power to
bless beyond measure.
He demonstrated His nature of blessing through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jabez, and the rest.
It’s your turn. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. He wants the world to
know that He is the God who can bless a man beyond measure. I see God demonstrating His
blessing through you. Amen!

10. God does not want you to be prey to the devil.

Psalm 124:6
Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

Jeremiah 30:16
Therefore, all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one
of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey
upon thee will I give for a prey.

You mean so much to God. You are His heartbeat. He does not want you to fall victim to the
devouring tactics of the devil. The absence of the blessing of God makes you vulnerable and
weak in life. Without the blessing of God, you become a failure. You lack the strength and
wisdom to pursue life issues. Everything will seem crushing. You groan and mourn for a
hopeless and helpless life. You wake up every day to chase empty dreams.
The devil desires to wound you, frustrate you, steal from you, destroy things about you and
finally kill you and take you to hell. The devil is like a roaring lion seeking those who lack
the power of God in their life so he can waste them. (1 Peter 5:8)

Consider the children of Israel. It was the blessing of the Lord through the Abrahamic
covenant that made them a terror to other nations. God wants you to be mighty and not a
weakling, for the devil not to have its way into your life. He blesses you to live in
abundance, so the devil can’t use poverty to frustrate and limit you. He blesses you with
good health and protection, so the devil can’t use sickness, diseases, and attacks to aggravate
you. His blessing will constantly keep you away from the trap of the wicked.
THE EFFECTS OF GOD’S BLESSING

The effect of God’s blessing can be described as the results that are produced, the
impact that is made, the positive outcomes of one’s life, or the benefits derived
when one receives the blessing of God.
The existence of the blessing of God in a person’s life is evidenced by the
happenings in the person’s life. In this chapter, we will look into the effects of
God’s blessing upon the one who receives it. It will help us recognize and
appreciate God’s blessing in action and be a motivator for us to strive to be
blessed.
The following are the effects of God’s blessing;
1. The blessing of the Lord makes you prevail in life.

Genesis 49:26 (Amplified bible)

The blessings of your father [ on you] are greater than the blessings of
my forefathers [ Abraham and Isaac on me] and are lasting as the
bounties of the eternal hills; they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on
the consecrated one and one separated from his breathen and [ the one
who] is prince among them.

To prevail means to be superior, dominant, or influential; to have or gain

the advantage over others; to have the upper hand; to outnumber others.
The story in the passage is about Jacob, as at the time when he was about to
die and called his sons to bless them. The major character in this storyline
is Joseph. Consider the blessing that Jacob proclaimed over his son Joseph
and its related effect upon his life.
The blessing that came upon the life of Joseph made him greater and prince
among all his brethren. There was a great distinction between him and his
fellow brothers. He became a prime minister in Egypt and evidently, his life
was no match for his brothers.
This is the point; when the blessing of God comes upon you, you prevail
above all. You become the greatest among others. It is not a matter of age;
Joseph was probably much younger but was superior to his senior brothers.
No man receives the blessing of God and goes down in life. You always
remain at the top and above all. You will see that everything about you,
whether in your place of work, family, school, ministry, and all other
things, you prevail above all others. This is the powerful effect of God’s
blessing.

2. The blessing of the Lord provokes divine help.

Genesis 49:25
“Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty,
who shall bless thee….”

God’s blessing provokes supernatural assistance. You receive divine

backing and support in all endeavors of life. What a blessing it to receive
help from God! This is what God’s blessing guarantees us.

3. The blessing of the Lord makes whatever you do prosper.

Psalm 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth
forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever
he doeth shall prosper.

The blessing of the Lord has a divine agenda of ensuring that, whatever you do
becomes successful. Your business, your ministry, your marriage, your children; in
fact, whatever you touch prospers. Everything works out for your good.

4. The blessing of the Lord terminates dryness.

Psalm 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water….

Dryness makes one wither. Dryness is a state of hardship and discomfort.

I remember one time when I traveled to the Northern region of my country,
(Ghana) and at the time of my stay, it was the dry season. No rain, high
temperatures, dry weather, and other conditions made my leaving very
uncomfortable.
When you are blessed, the river of God flows through your life and allows
ease to have way in your life. You don’t struggle over certain things and
comfort surrounds you because there is always a provision of your needs.
You will discover that your life is constantly renewed and refreshed just as
a tree planted by the rivers of water. The blessing of the Lord guarantees
your comfort by terminating all forms of dryness from your life.

5. The blessing of God brings about transformation.

Genesis 32:26
And he said, let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let
thee go except thou bless me. And he said unto him, what is thy name?
And he said, Jacob. And he said, thy name shall be called no more Jacob,
but Israel….

It is only the blessing of God that can transform a man. It is the blessing of salvation
that transforms a man condemned to hell to receive eternal life. Jacob, a deceiver was
changed by the blessing of God.

The blessing of God makes a big change in the life of a man for the better. It is only
the blessing of God that can change a poor man to be rich without any sorry. It is only
the blessing of God that can transform a barren to become fruitful. It is only the
blessing of God that can transform a nonentity to become a person of significance.
God’s blessing has the power to transform any negative condition of life for the better.
Strive for it!
BARRIERS TO GOD’S BLESSING

God is a bearer of a multitude of blessings. He desires to bestow His blessing on every child
of His. The blessings of God are too many, awaiting believers for their possession.
Unfortunately, many Christians cannot have access to the blessings of God because, there are
several barriers that we put in our way, keeping us from experiencing fulfillment,
satisfaction, peace, and healing.
We must diagnose the barriers to God’s blessing so that we can receive the goodness of the
Lord. In these few pages, we will consider each of these barriers to the blessing of God to
identify and overcome these hindrances to our progress as children of God.

1. The barrier of prayerlessness.

There are blessings the Lord longs to give us. Many are going through difficult situations
because they are not praying.
It is terrible to know that, many Christians miss the blessing of God because they fail to pray.
Prayer opens the heavens for the outpouring of God’s blessing. A biblical character of
prayerlessness is Esau. There is no single record in the bible that testifies that Esau was a
man of prayer. Jacob who was a man of prayer took over the blessing intended for Esau.

Genesis 27:38
And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessings, my father? Bless me, even me
also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.

It is God’s will that we as His children should be blessed with physical and spiritual
blessings.

Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all
spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.

The blessing of God is spiritual and God is the originator. It is very important to petition
Him to shower His blessing on our efforts. If we fail to ask, we will not receive from Him.

James 4:2
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet
ye have not, because ye ask not.

When you are not prayerful, you set spiritual barriers between yourself and your blessing.
Check out your prayer life, if the blessing of the Lord is not manifesting the way it should.

2. The barrier of Unbelief and Doubt

2 Kings 7:1-2
Then Elisha said, hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, tomorrow about this
time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a
shekel, in the gate of Samaria. Then a Lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the
man of God, and said, behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this
thing be? And he said, behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

How God releases His blessing is mysterious. When God wants to bless you, He might use
unfavorable and unrealistic circumstances to pour out His blessing. We are human, limited in
our thinking and how far we can see into the supernatural. God is supreme, who can turn
anything and everything around for those He loves.
Many believers cannot see where God is stretching out His hands to bless His children. Like
the officer in the bible verse above, many doubt the mightiness and miracle power of God. I
don’t blame him that much, circumstances and situations of life can make you doubt the
sovereignty of our maker, which shouldn’t be. Elisha prophesied the provision of God’s
abundance despite the famine in the land. This officer missed the blessing of God because of
his doubt and unbelief. The blessing of God’s abundant supply killed him instead of him
partaking in it.
We have to just trust and belief in God. How He will do it is not our concern. Your doubt
and unbelief in God is an expression of your lack of confidence in Him. If you want to see
the blessing of God in your life, don’t let unbelief and doubt get in your way.

Mark 9:23-24
Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And
straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou
mine unbelief.

Sometimes the promises of God’s blessing look indeed reared. Most times His promise
blessing looks unclear, but that makes Him God. Unbelief and doubt have limited many
Christians from receiving from God. All things are possible to those who believe. The
situation of the child in the picture above looked like there wasn’t any hope. Thank God his
father acknowledged his unbelief because he was just a mortal man and Jesus helped him.
Stop doubting God. Forget about how God is going to do it and walk in confidence with
God. Your unbelief and doubt can stop the flow of God’s blessing into your life.
3. The Opinion of Men.

2 Kings 2 :1-3
And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that
Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee:
for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, as the Lord liveth, and as
thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel. And the sons of the
prophet that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, knowest thou that
Lord will take away thy master from thy head today? And he said, yea, I know it: hold ye
your peace.

I remember at a certain point in my life when God spoke to me to join the church where I
currently fellowship and pastor a branch. As I left my former place of worship in obedience
to the leading of the Lord, there were several opinions from a section of people. Their
opinions and comments made me feel I was taking the wrong step, although I was gladly
obeying the voice of God. I had to get to a point where I decided I will never allow myself to
be influenced by what they were saying, and today, the difference is clear.
The opinion of men contrary to the will of God for your life is poisonous than you might
think.

Elisha knew it was time for Elijah to be carried away. The sons of the prophet who could not
see what Elisha was seeing were indirectly mocking Elisha, probably, thinking he was
foolishly following Elijah, a man to be carried away a short while. If Elisha had listened to
the opinion of the sons of the prophet, he would have missed the blessing of the double
portion of anointing on Elijah’s life.

The truth of the matter is that not everybody can see what you see. Not everybody knows
what you know. Not everybody heard what God told you. Not everybody understands what
you understand. We need to be very careful of the opinion of men.
A young lady will be fortunate to be blessed with a man with a great future. Unfortunately,
friends and family opinions probably about how poor the man might look now can block the
blessing God intends to bring her way. Let God’s word and will be final, not men’s opinion.

Mark 10:46-52
And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great
number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus,
thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his
peace: but he cried the more a great deal, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus
stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man saying unto him,
be of good comfort, rise, he calleth thee.
And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said
unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord,
that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, go thy way; thy faith hath made
thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Blind Bartimaeus never allowed the people to stop him by their opinion. They tried to stop
him by making him keep quiet from calling upon Jesus. The bible says, the more they tried
to stop him, he cried more and that arrested the attention of Jesus.
Many Christians no longer call upon God. Why? Because of the opinion of men. You can be
a prayerful person, but people’s opinions can quench your fire. The prayer life of many has
been quenched because they opened up to certain ungodly opinions of mere men. People can
begin to ask you questions like “why do you pray always”? They did it to Daniel, thank God
he escaped their trap.
One day we had an electrical fault in our church which made some of the wires catch fire. I
went to call for the service of an electrician close by, to help solve the problem. Immediately
I made mention of the situation to him, he burst into laughter and said “You people have
been praying, fire! fire!! fire!!! and now your church is on fire, you are calling for help”. He
was making a mockery of our prayers. Such comments can make you be intimated and look
like a fool for obeying a principle that releases the blessing of God.

Many people have walked out from the Shepherding of men of God Whom God had
appointed to use as a point of blessing to them because of the influence and opinion of
people probably in the church. Ungrateful and rebellions congregants who are not ready to
be affected and changed by the word of God use the weapon of accusation, lies, fault finding,
and backbiting to sow seeds of discord among members and turn their heart from the church
and the man of God, and it’s surprising how many believers become victims of this weapon
of the devil to block their blessing. What a pity! Obedience to God and His word is the key.
Be careful of what people say or do. Let the spirit of God lead and direct you, not the opinion
of men.

4. The barrier of worldliness.

James 4:4-5
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with
God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think
that the scripture saith in vain, the spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

The blessing of God is Spiritual. It is given birth to in a spiritual atmosphere. Many believers
can’t receive the blessing of God because of the things of the world. Christians of today are
much concerned with human or earthly desires compared with the things of God. Our focus
is on how to get nice houses, cars, what to eat, drink, and the pleasure of life.

2 Timothy 4:10
For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto
Thessalonica; Creascens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
Demas was a young man who had heard Apostle Paul preach and was enthused to leave
everything and follow him everywhere he went to preach the gospel. For a time, Demas had
been very helpful to Paul. Unfortunately, the desire of the world captured Demas and he
forsook Paul and went back to the ways of the world.

1 John 2:15-17
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the
love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the
lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the father, but is of the world. And the world
passeth away. The lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever

Worldliness is deception. It encourages the use of human strength and ability, which is all
vanity. It takes us away from the provision of heaven and exposes us to the torture and
suffering of the world. There is nothing we are seeking that can’t be given by God. He is the
creator of the whole world and everything in it. Anyone who wants to experience the
blessing of God must learn to be turned to the things of the spirit and avoid worldly
pollution.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you

5. The Barrier of fear.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound
mind
In numbers 13, the children of Israel arrived very close to their promised blessing. After
spying the land, they brought back some of the fruit of the land as tangible evidence proving
the goodness of the Lord. Out of the 12 spies, 10 had a different spirit. The spirit of fear. All
the spies were confronted by the same reality. Caleb and Joshua filled with the spirit of God
were bold and possessive. They encouraged the people to go up and take the land and enjoy
the gift of God’s blessing given to them, but unfortunately, the rest stoked fear into them.
God wiped away all those fearful people except Joshua and Caleb who entered into the
Promised Land and partook in the blessing.

Be possessive. Don’t allow fear. Fear will not allow you to confront issues of life. It will
make you look inferior. Fear can make you pronounce evil and negative proclamations upon
yourself. Fear can make you rebellious. It can be a strong force that will blind you from
seeing what is good and where God is taking you to. Fear can make you doubt the wondrous
works of God. It can be a very strong barrier to you, preventing you from receiving God’s
blessing. God is with you always. Don’t be afraid.

6. The barrier of disobedience.

James 1:22
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Joshua 5:6
For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were
men of war, which came out of Egypt were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice
of the Lord: unto whom the Lord sware that he would not shew them the land, which the
Lord sware unto their fathers that he would give us a land that floweth with milk and
honey.

The children of Israel went around the same mountain for 40 years because of disobedience.
To access God’s blessing depends so much on your ability to be obedient to His words and
command. The bible is very clear on what happens when you disobey God’s word. Instead of
receiving the blessing of God, disobeying God’s word and instructions attract curses. Deut.
28:15-68. God is a loving father and every loving father would discipline his children
because he loves them. God does not intend to harm us but rather to guide us, as a good
shepherd. King Saul lost his throne because he failed to follow the commandment and simple
instructions of God. Sometimes, what God will ask us to do will not sound pleasing to us.
We have to simply obey. Let us not allow disobedience to God and His words deny us of
God’s blessing.

7. The barrier of secret and un-repented sin.

Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall
have mercy.

Psalm 90:8
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance

Jeremiah 16:17-18
For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their
iniquity hid from mine eyes. And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin
double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the
carcass of their detestable and abominable things

Trying to hide sin from God is like running from your own shadow. You can’t run away
from God because He knows everything. He is the all-knowing God. Probably you have
successfully hidden so many sins from your family and friends and even your pastor, but
God knows it all. All the skeletons in your closet must be confessed because unconfessed sin
can block you from receiving the blessing of God. Many believers have backslidden as a
result of trying to hide their sins. God is a loving father, who is ever ready to forgive all our
confessed sins. Be open to your father and don’t allow the devil to take hold of your secret
and un-repented life to rob you of God’s blessing.
8. The barrier of bitterness and unforgiveness.

Mark 11:26
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your father which is in heaven forgive your
trespasses:

Matt. 6:14
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

In the spiritual realm, unforgiveness and bitterness are powerful weapons that can block
one’s blessing. Whatever happens in the natural is a direct reflection of what first takes place
in the spirit realm. Heaven’s gate has been closed against many, because of unforgiveness
and bitterness.
When you don’t forgive, you hold someone else’s sin hostage in your body. Unforgiveness
and bitterness paralyze you, stifles you, hinders you, blocks answer to prayers, and keeps
you immobile. Many people can’t think straight or clearly because of unforgiveness. You
see, when you keep bitterness and refuse to let go, it is like giving someone else poison and
expecting them to die, yet all along, you are slowly and inwardly dying.

Luke 17:1
Then said he unto the disciples, it is impossible but that offences will come……...

I always say, if people don’t offend you, then you should find out if you are truly human!
Probably you are a robot. But if you are truly human, the very people closest to you are those
who will offend you intentionally or unintentionally. Your spouse, parents, children,
siblings, relatives, in-laws, pastors, co-workers, and others.
The sin of unforgiveness and bitterness may seem to be very respectable. Most often we hear
Christians say; I don’t drink, smoke, womanize, steal but yet fall for the temptation of
unforgiveness and bitterness. Unforgiveness today has captured many men of God and even
soul winners. The blessing of God is lacking in the body of Christ because of this very sin.
God’s blessing rest where there is no contention. Let live in peace with all men. Let love
lead. Breed without greed and allow the blessing of God to rest upon you. Forgive those who
have offended you. Arise and uproot any seed of bitterness from your soul, and you will
pave the way for the outpouring of God’s blessing!

9. Despising Men of God.

2 Chronicles 20:20
And they arose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as
they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of
Jerusalem; believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets,
so shall ye prosper.
Amos 3:7
Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants, the
prophets.

John 4:44
For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.

The rise of many false churches, increase in deception, magic and false prophesies have
dragged the name and office of prophets and men of God into dishonor. You mustn’t allow
yourself to disregard and despise men of God. It is terrible to insult truly anointed men of
God even if they mess up. David realized that the fact that King Saul messed up did not give
him the right to kill him. He was very much terrified to touch the Lord’s anointed, but what
do we see in our society today?
Men of God are God’s messengers on earth. When you despise and fail to honor your
prophet God brings your way, it serves as a very big barrier to you receiving the blessing of
God.

10. Wrong Attitudes to Life.

Several attitudes of life that block the blessing of God to our life. For example, people
deliberately withhold the blessing of others as a result of their wicked nature. When you
delay someone’s salary, small financial aids, and people’s means of support without any
reasonable cause, you are blocking your blessings.

Proverbs 3:27
Withhold not good from them whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it

Proverbs 21:13
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be
heard.
God opens many great doors for His children but our attitudes close those doors. We seek the
blessing of God but we are not in a good relationship with our fellow men. God’s blessing
comes through human beings. If you don’t keep a good relationship and positive attitudes
towards your fellow man, you are building a strong barrier between you and your blessing.

Many people have very bad attitudes towards giving. Giving is one of the ways God pours
out His blessing. Withholding what you have, without assisting others or the work of God
could also be a barrier to your blessings.
PRINCIPLES THAT ATTRACTS GOD’S BLESSING

Every child of God desires to be a blessing. We need to understand that; the kingdom of God
operates on principles. Any believer that wants to attract the blessing of God must discover
the principles of God’s blessing and walk appropriately in them. It is a great thing to be
blessed. Whatever possible you can do to be a blessing do it. The following are some
principles of God that can help you attract the blessing of God. It is guidance and a form of
Godly practice that can bring you under the canopy of divine blessing. Decide to swim in the
pool of God’s blessing from today as you decide to practice the following that can lead you
to the blessing of God.
1. The principle of walking in His covenant.

Psalm 74:20
Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations
of cruelty

God is a covenant-keeping God. He is faithful to His word. The blessing of God is embedded
in His covenant. Throughout the bible, those who demonstrated the blessing of God were all
people who walked in a covenant relationship with God.
A covenant is an agreement between two parties. In a covenant, terms and conditions are
spelled out, responsibilities are shared and each party is expected to play their roles
faithfully. When you faithfully execute your part of the covenant, it qualifies you to receive
the reward spelled out in the covenant.
All great men in the bible and even today are those who partook in the covenant relationship
with God.

Ephesians 2:12-13
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel,
and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the
world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood
of Christ.

When we give our lives to Christ, we enter into a covenant relationship with the Lord which
is the greatest covenant ever. Nobody gives his life to Christ and remains the same. After
salvation, it is most important to keep walking in the covenants of God.
When you learn to walk in a covenant relationship with God, you become a covenant carrier.
Every covenant carrier is different from the crowd. You know within yourself that there is
something special about you. The blessing of the Lord bathes you all around.

In every area of our life, we seek the blessing of God, there is a covenant related to it of
which you must walk in it. Walking in a covenant relationship with God means, conscious
continuous obedience to the demands of His covenant. Covenant walk is a journey that does
not end as long as you are alive.

You can’t experience financial blessings when you don’t partake and walk in God’s financial
covenant. You can’t experience the blessing of God’s protection when you don’t walk in His
covenant of dwelling in His presence. The blessing of God gets attracted to those who walk
in His covenants.

In Gen. 17:2-21, God appeared to Abraham and established His covenant with him.
Abraham understood he was under the covenant of God therefore he walked in it. He made
sure all the males in his entire household were circumcised to seal the covenant between him
and God and the generation after him with blood. Even when he made a mistake and took
Hagar and had a child with her, based on the advice of his wife Sarah, he had to drive Hagar
and his son Ishmael away because Isaac was the covenant child, not Ishmael. At a point, God
demanded Isaac as a sacrifice and Abraham obeyed.
When it was time for Isaac to get married, he never allowed his son to marry from the
daughters of the Canaanites who were not under the covenant of God. He had to send his
servant to his country and his kindred to take a wife unto his son. Abraham was a covenant
walker. We see in his life that, he faithfully walked in the covenant relationship with God
and God blessed him abundantly, and now all over the world, everybody is seeking the
blessings of Abraham.

If you want to attract the blessing of God, learn to faithfully walk in His covenants. Be
willing to pay for the price of greatness. Don’t be like those who are ignorant and far away
from the covenant of God. Strangers to the covenants.

Ephesians 2:12
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel,
and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the
world.

2. The principle of believing in His Prophets.

2 Corinthians 20:20

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as
they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of
Jerusalem; believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets,
so shall ye prosper

Some principles have worked for believers over the years and the principle of believing both
in God and His prophets is one of them. Jehoshaphat at a point in time encountered a very
tough condition. An array of kings surrounded him to attack him and destroy his entire
kingdom. Through the ministry of Jahaziel, God prophesied to the children of Israel that he
would give them victory in the battle. He would fight for them. Jehoshaphat had to admonish
the people to believe in the prophet and do as the Lord has commanded. At the end of the
battle, God blessed Jehoshaphat and his people so much than, they could carry.

Most often, we tend to easily believe in God we haven’t seen before, but somehow, we find
it very difficult to believe in the prophet God sends into our life.
Prophets are God’s agent on earth. They hold the mystery to the divine secrets of the
blessing of God. Whenever God is set to release His blessing on you, one thing He does is to
send you a prophet.

All through the bible is an example of people who received the blessing of the Lord because
they believed in the prophets God sent their way. The poor widow of Zarephath and her
household survived the famine in her days because she believed in Elijah and gladly obeyed
his instructions which opened the heavens for abundant supply. Hannah changed her
countenance and left the presence of God with joy and an assurance of carrying her child
because she believed in the prophetic declaration of Eli the priest. Many sick and weak
people received their miracle through the ministration of Jesus Christ as they believed in
him. God does nothing without first reviling it to His prophets.

Amos 3:7
Surley the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the
prophets.

There was a severe famine in the land of Samaria. Women now were negotiating how to
cook their children to eat them for survival. Prices of commodities became very high. The
people were looking up to the king for help but he couldn’t offer any help- he needed help
himself. This is exactly what is happening today. The economic crash is hitting the world so
hard. Presidents of nations are doing everything to save the situation but to no avail. There
was so much hardship in the land of Samaria. The only thing that could help them was the
release of the blessing of the Lord.
God through prophet Elisha told them His plan and thought for them. But you see, some
people find it very difficult to believe in the men of God raised for their blessing. The lord on
whose hand the king leaned doubted the man of God. He doubted God. Eventually, when
God released His blessing as prophesied by the man of God, the lord of the king saw the
blessing, but he couldn’t enjoy it. He died.

2 Kings 7:1-2
Then Elisha said, hear ye the word of the Lord: thus saith the Lord, tomorrow about this
time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a
shekel, in the gate of Samaria. Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the
man of God, and said, behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this
thing be? And he said, behold, thou salt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

Vs. 20
And so, it fell out unto him: for the people trod upon him in the gate, and he died.

One of the things that show you believe in your prophet is the ability to sow into his life.
Abram became a blessing as he sowed into the life of Melchizedek. Gen. 14:18-20. If you
want to experience the blessing of the Lord, which will make a difference in your life against
all odds, look around you and recognize the true and faithful prophet God brings your way.
Accept him and honor him. Believe in him, sow into his life and ministry and you will see
yourself swimming in the pool of God’s blessing.

3. The principle of living a sacrificial kingdom life.

Sacrifice is indispensable in our Christian faith. Christianity without sacrifices is a dead faith
without works. We can’t worship God without sacrifice.
Sacrifice evokes the spirit of covenant blessing. Whenever we offer sacrifices of any form to
the Lord, It shows how we honor Him. Sacrifice is a sign of humility. Indeed, the proud finds
it very difficult to offer unto the Lord. It takes a very broken heart to offer unto the Lord.
1 Kings 3:3-5
And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he
sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. And the King went to Gibeon to sacrifice
there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer
upon the altar. In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God
said, ask what I shall give thee.

Solomon was blessed in wisdom, understanding, honor, and prosperity because he sacrificed
a thousand burnt offerings to the Lord. When you sacrifice to God with a righteous and
willing mind and heart, it has the potency to arrest heaven’s attention on you.
God’s principle hasn’t changed and it will never change. From ancient times, God appeared
and met His children and blessed them at the place of sacrifice. The kingdom of God is a
kingdom of sacrifice. No one makes sacrifices in obedience to God without a benefit.
Whatever is given to God attracts a blessing here on earth and the world to come.
I have come to discover and understand the power of sacrifice. When you sacrifice yourself,
resources, time, and energy to promote the kingdom of God, power is released and that
connects you to the unstoppable flow of God’s blessing in diverse areas of your life.

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

The greatest sacrifice we can offer to God is to offer ourselves to the advancement of the
kingdom of God. The bible is full of stories of men and women who sacrificed so much to
God. There are testimonies of people who were picked from the backside of life to a greater
and honorable position in life because they lived a sacrificial life for the kingdom.

Our sacrifices to God must cost us if we want it to be accepted. It should be something very
precious and valuable. Moses forsook all the pleasures and luxuries of the palace and offered
himself to the Lord to use for the deliverance of the children of Israel. At the end of his life,
God honored him. Mary Magdalene sacrificed her costly perfume and beautiful hair to wash
the feet of Jesus. She was the first to see Jesus Christ when He rose from the grave. It’s such
a blessing. David was a man after God’s heart because David was a man of sacrifice.

Ecclesiastes 11:4
He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

Most often, we want to wait to have all before we sacrifice. The best time to sacrifice is
when you don’t have. Don’t allow your present condition of life to stop you from living a
kingdom sacrificial life. If you want to experience and attract the blessing of God in your
life, decide to sacrifice your life and resources to God as led and God will honor you. Apply
this principle and don’t forget, what you sow, is what you reap.
4. The principle of serving the Lord with all your heart.

Malachi 3:17-18
And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of host, in that day when I make up my jewels; and
I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return,
and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him
that serveth him not.

Exodus 23:25
And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I
will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

5. The principle of living a righteous life.

Psalm 37:23-26
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he
fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. I have
been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed
begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

Have you thought about what righteousness entails and the benefits it brings? God calls His
children through the covenant of salvation in Christ to live righteously. God expects His
children to live in conformity to the demands of the covenant and according to His will.
Having given the gift of salvation, we are to behave like people of the Holy Lord.
To live a righteous life in the new covenant is to have the right thinking, feeling, speaking,
behavior, and doing what God approves and commands.
Righteousness is a huge investment opportunity, both for this life and for all eternity.
Righteousness is what will rule in eternity.

Psalm 112:1-3
Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his
commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth: the generation of the upright
shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth
forever.

It is very important to understand that, God does not bless those who ignore His
commandments and live to please themselves. He blesses those who fear Him and walk in
His ways. The blessing of God is attracted by those who consciously and by the help of the
Holy Spirit decide to turn from their sins and live in the truth of the word of God. If we want
to experience the blessing of God, righteous living is a demand. The blessing of God does
not affect us only, but people around us and our generation as well. It is very important not
to downplay our gift of salvation. The fear of God must be in us, and we should learn to walk
in the ways of God. We must live a humble life. We need to work on ourselves and be
broken-hearted to allow the word of God to affect us. God is against evildoers but releases
His blessing upon the just. Fearing the Lord helps us to hate evil.
Let’s repent of our sins and ask God for a broken and contrite heart. Let us learn to walk in
the fear of the Lord and the God of the just, which will cause His overflowing blessing to be
released over our lives.

6. Being Prayerful.

James 4:2
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet
ye have not, because ye ask not.

1 Chronicles 4:9-10
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez,
saying, because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, oh
that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be
with me, and that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

Prayer is a very effective tool that releases the blessing of God. It is a means by which we
can petition heaven for the outpouring of the blessing of God. It was prayer that enabled
Jabez to break through to a blessed life. The bible has many examples of people who prayed
to God for the release of His blessing.

Prayer is a demonstration of our dependency on God. When we pray for the blessing of God,
we acknowledge that, blessings come from God alone. This moves heaven to act on our
behave and more avenues for the blessing of God is opened and we become a symbol of
God’s blessing.

7. The principle of giving to the poor and needy.

Deuteronomy 15:11
For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore, I command you saying,
‘You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your
land’

Proverbs 19:17
He who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, He will repay him for his good
deed.

There are a lot of people struggling and disadvantaged in life. The bible says the poor
we will always have with us. Giving to the poor and needy attracts a lot of God’s
blessings upon our lives.

Twelve blessings you receive when you give to the poor and needy.
i. The blessing of knowing the Lord.

Jeremiah 22:16
He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not
this to know me? saith the Lord

It’s a blessing to know the Lord. Lack of knowledge of the Lord is a curse. Many
people are perishing because of lack of knowledge. When you give to the poor and
needy, you receive the blessing of knowing the Lord!

ii. The blessing of Life.

Ezekiel 18:7,9 (ISV)
“If he doesn’t oppress anyone, but instead returns the debtor’s security foe his
debt, if doesn’t rob anyone, but instead shares his food with hungry and gives
clothes to those who are naked… and will certainly live” declares the Lord.

When you give to the poor and needy, it saves you from untimely death. Dorcas was
brought back to life because of helping those who had no cloth. Acts 9:36-41. Giving
to the poor and needy provokes the blessing of life.

iii. Generational blessing.

Psalm 112:2,9 (ISV)

“His descendants will be powerful in the land, a generation of the upright who
will be blessed…. He gives generously to the poor….”
Your generation will be blessed with all kinds of blessings when you give to the
poor and the needy. May your generation be blessed because you give to the poor
in Jesus’ name.

iv. The blessing of your needs being met.

Proverbs 28:27 (BBE)

He who gives to the poor will never be in need, but great curses will be on him
who gives no attention to them
One of the signs of the existence of a curse is lack and scarcity. The whole world is
under this curse. Many people find it difficult to have their daily needs met. I want
to help you with this secret, if you want to receive the blessing of having your
needs met, give to the poor and needy around you. You will see around you people
who are far disadvantaged than you. Help the poor and needy and the blessing of
your needs being met is sure.

v. The blessing of Health.

Psalm 41:1-3 (ISV)

Blessed is the one who is considerate of the destitute (poor); the Lord will deliver
him when the times are evil……The Lord will uphold him even on his sickbed;
you will transform his bed of illness into health.

Any man who considers the poor and needy is helped marvelously in times of
sickness and afflictions. You receive the blessing of perfect health when you help
the poor. Divine health is a blessing. Many are suffering and wasting a lot of
resources because of terrible health conditions. He who considers the poor and
needy open the heavens to receive the blessing of divine health that saves him from
all manner of dangerous health conditions.

vi. The blessing of prayers answered and divine guidance.

Isaiah 58:6-11 (ISV)

Isn’t this the fast I have been choosing……Isn’t it to share your bread with the
hungry, and to bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the
naked, to cover him with clothing…… The you will call, and the Lord will
answer; you’ll cry for help and he’ll respond, ‘Here I am’. ….. If you pour
yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the needs of afflicted souls, then your
light will rise in darkness, and your night will be like noonday. And the Lord will
guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in parched places and they will
strengthen your bones; and you’ll be like a watered garden, like a spring of
water, whose waters never fails.

Your prayers will be answered if you are the type that helps the poor and needy.
Divine guidance in all endeavors of life becomes your portion when you learn to
obey God by assisting the poor and needy.

vii. The blessing of deliverance and protection.

Psalm 41:1-2
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: The Lord will deliver him in time of
trouble. The Lord will preserve him, keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon
the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
Those who consider the poor and needy have the guarantee of divine protection and
deliverance. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper and every setup
and device of your enemies shall be condemned and destroyed by Jehovah.

viii. The blessing of honor.

Psalm 112:9 (ISV)
He gives generously to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is
exalted in honour.
What is the blessing of honor? The blessing of honor makes you highly privileged
in life. The blessing of honor raises you to a position of respect, glory, fame, and
excellence. It is the blessing of honor that makes you to be recognized as someone
important and valuable.
He who helps the poor and the needy qualifies for this blessing of honor. May you
be honored in this land of the living in Jesus’ name!

ix. The blessing of wealth and blessing of work.

Deuteronomy 15:10
Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest
unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy
works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

Psalm 112:2,9
“Wealth and riches shall be in his house……He hath dispersed, he hath given to
the poor;….”

Whatever you touch shall be blessed. Wealth becomes your portion. All the works
of your hands will be blessed and prosperity will follow you when you decide to be
a blessing to the poor and needy.

x. The blessing of happiness.

Proverbs 14:21
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor,
happy is he.
You will forever remain happy when you have mercy on the poor. Circumstances
of sadness and worry are sent far away from you by Jehovah, so you can enjoy a
happy and blessed life.

xi. The blessing of spiritual fruitfulness.

Titus 3:14 (BBE)

And let our people go on with good works for necessary purposes, so that they
may not be without fruit.
With this blessing, you accomplish much for God. Many great things come from
you. You become productive for God.

xii. General blessings.

Proverbs 22:9
He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.

All blessings that pertain to life and godliness are poured out on you. All general
blessings locate you as you help the poor and needy.
8. The principle of associating with the blessed.

Genesis 39:5
And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and
over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake;
and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

There are people whose presence activates the blessing of God. There are people
whom you can see the blessing of in operation in their lives. Blessing comes by
association. When Joseph entered Potiphar’s house, he brought great blessing with
him. When he went to Pharaoh’s palace, the entire nation prospered.

Partnership with blessed people is a biblical principle we have to learn. Jacob at a time
wanted to return with his family. Laban his father – in – law made a statement that
proves this fact. He said, ‘Please stay…. For I have learned by experience that the
Lord has blessed me for your sake.’ Genesis 30:27. You can easily experience the
manifold blessing of God by simply connecting with men and women blessed by
Jehovah.
Unfortunately, we want to attack blessed people like how Isaac was attacked in Gerar.
Never attack a blessed man; it can turn into a curse upon your life.

With all humility, let us learn to recognize those who are walking in the blessing of
God and get as close to them as we can. Blessing comes by association!
MEANS THROUGH WHICH GOD RELEASES HIS BLESSING

1. The Anointing
1 Samuel 10:1, 6
Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and
said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his
inheritance? And the spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt
prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

1 Samuel 16:13
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and
the Spirit of the Lord came upon David that day forward. So Samuel arose and went
to Ramah

David was a teenager and came from a family which had no influence or wealth to
make him successful not to talk of making him a king in Israel. Virtually, no one
expected much from David who was the youngest child of his father Jesse.
All that David became in life could be traced to the anointing he received.

Saul became another man because of the anointing. The anointing separated him from
the low standard of life and set him on the throne.

2 Kings 2:11-15
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that behold, there appeared a
chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went
up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, my father, my
father, the chariot of Israel, and the horse thereof. And he saw him no more: and he
took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. He took up also the
mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, where is the
Lord God of Elijah? And when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither
and thither: and Elisha went over. And when the sons of the prophets which were to
view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they
came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

Why did Elisha follow Elijah so hard? What made the sons of the prophets bow down
to Elisha despite how they mocked him? The answer is the anointing!
Elisha received the transfer of God’s blessing as he received the mantle which had
fallen from Elijah. Elisha’s new life was embedded in the mantle- the anointing.
When God decides to bless a man, He releases His anointing upon the fellow.
Anointing places, a man under the divine influence and empowerment of God. God
anoints whom He chooses to bless. The anointing impacts the spirit of God which
makes you do things beyond the natural and achieve extraordinary results. The
anointed carries spiritual authority. The anointed increases and prospers in whatever
he does. The anointed carries the grace of God that causes him to flourish when others
deteriorate.
All through the bible, men who exemplified the blessing of God are men who carried
the oil of God upon their life.
Go for the anointing! Avail yourself for God to use you. God’s blessings are ready to
be released on available vessels. Get anointed!

2. The word of God.

John 15:7
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall
be done unto you.

God’s word is the seed of His blessing. The blessing of God responds to the implant
of God’s word in your heart. God’s word reveals His promise blessings. Until you
discover His promised blessings, you can’t lay hold and claim it. His blessings are
hidden in His word and those who seek His word are those who partake of it.
God created our hearts to bring forth good fruits (blessings) as we plant His word in
them.
Nothing is so important to you than for you to know the word of God. It is the word of
God that can create a difference in your life because it transfers God’s blessings into
your heart.

Luke 11:28
But he said, yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

The simplest stepping stone to the blessing of God is obedience to the word of God. In
Luke 5:1-11, the story of Peter and the boat shows how God releases His blessing to a
man through His word. Peter an expect fisherman who had toiled all night but had
returned empty-handed, had a shocking blessing just by the obedience of instruction of
God- put thy net here! The simple obedience of Peter made Jesus demonstrate His
power and sovereignty.

Get this straight! Obeying God in small matters is an essential step in receiving His
blessings. When you choose to obey God’s word, He will bless you because obedience
always leads to blessing.
Let His word abide in your heart. Seek to study and obey His word. He releases His
blessing through His word.

3. Prophetic declaration.

Genesis 1:1,22-26
And Jacob called unto his sons, said, gather yourselves together, that I may tell you
that which shall befall you in the last days. Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a
fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall…….even by the God of
thy father, who shall help thee; and by the almighty , who shall bless thee with the
blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the
breasts and of the womb: the blessings of thy father have prevailed above the
blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they
shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was
separate from his brethren.

The spirit of God moves men to speak in the prophetic over those He decides to bless.
Our lives are tied to words, whatever words are spoken over our lives determine what
comes out of our life. Positive confessions by speaking the promises of God’s word
over our life moves our lives to the next level. Prophetic declarations are a medium
God holds on to, to release His blessings.
Just before the death of Jacob, he called all his sons to bless them by speaking
prophetically over their lives. At the point of death, Jacob’s spirit rose to the prophetic
stature. Studies have proven that whatever Jacob declared over his sons came to pass
eventually. This provides evidence that God’s supernatural power blesses a man by
foretelling the future to whom He desires.

2 Kings 7:1-2
Then Elisha said, hear ye the word of the Lord, tomorrow about this time shall a
measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel,
in the gate of Samaria. Then Lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the
man of God, and said, behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might
this thing be? And he said, behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat
thereof.

1 Thessalonians 5:20 (ESV)

Do not despise prophecies.

A lot of people have missed the blessing of God because they despise prophesies. The
meaning of prophecy can be derived from the Greek word “prophenai” which means
“to speak on behalf of”. When there is a release of a prophecy, the messenger is
speaking on behalf of God and the message is envisioned to provide inspired spiritual
direction and impartation of God’s blessings.

The king’s officer in 2 Kings 7 doubted the prophecy from Elisha. Despite Elisha’s
track record of reliability, this officer didn’t believe the prophecy and he missed God’s
blessing. Let’s take the advice of Paul, despise not prophecies, they are means God
uses to release His blessing.
4. Divine Ideas.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

A divine idea is a concept which like a seed is planted in the heart of a man for man’s
benefit and to demonstrate God’s glory. Divine ideas are powerful means through
which God releases His blessings upon a man. It is God who fills a Holy Ghost filled
man with divinely inspired ideas that can change the man’s life forever. When God
decided to bless a man, He can show him things that will lift him to a great height. Just
one simple creative idea given to you by God can transform your life forever.
One of the greatest attacks of the enemy is to frustrate divine ideas. The graveyard is
filled with men with wasted ideas, dreams, and visions.
Success is attained on the bed of deep thinking, vision and ideas. Many people are not
blessed because they lack what to pursue in life. Divine ideas are the divine pictures
God puts into your spirit to have something to pursue life. The ideas and vision you
have for life become the vehicle to your success in life.
Everything we see, feel, experience, or interact with life was birthed or created in the
invaluable cradle of an idea. Ideas are the foundations of all things.
To be without an idea is pathetic. People without divine ideas are bankrupt in every
sphere of life. This is why God blesses people with divine ideas.

HOW YOU CAN SUSTAIN THE BLESSING OF GOD

One of the greatest sorrows is to see believers who were happily blessed and demonstrating
the grace of God in all endeavors, suddenly beginning to experience something dreadful. We
discover sadly that; frown now substitutes their smile and they begin to deteriorate instead of
moving and growing higher. It is evidence that the blessing of God is withdrawn.
God’s mindset is for us to move from glory to glory every day. We are not designed for a life
of stagnation or regression. We are to move from one notch of brightness to a higher level.
God has made every provision for us to live a life of success and not of failure; to be a
blessing to all nations.
Proverbs 4:18
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect
day.
Now the question is; is it possible for one to lose the blessing of God? The answer is a big
YES. The mind of God is for us to enjoy His blessing. It’s rather unfortunate how
individuals, families and nations continually lose the blessing of God. The blessing of God
comes with a purpose and a responsibility. Walking continually under God’s blessing is as
significant as attracting the blessing. If we are not careful, we can lose God’s blessings.

Examples of people in the bible who lost the blessing of God.

a. Samson lost the blessing of the power of God in his life.
b. Saul lost the blessing of kingship given to him by God.
When one loses the blessing of God, it gives room for many unbearable instances. The
removal of God’s blessing gives way for curses to operate as it happened to the children of
Israel. The enemy who intends to bring destruction upon us has his way when the blessing of
God is removed. All benefits enjoyed under the blessing of God are retreated when we lose
His blessing.
How does nations, families, and individuals lose the blessing of God? We need to have this
understanding to help us continually keep and walk under the blessing of God. Here are few
examples from the bible of actions that can cause one to lose the blessing of God.

1. Disobedience to God and His word.

1 Samuel 15:8-11
And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people
with the edge of the sword. But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the
Sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs and all that was good, and
would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed
utterly. Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying, it repenteth me that I have
set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed
my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.
A perfect example of a man who lost the blessing of God is Saul. He lost the blessing of
being the king over God’s people because of disobedience. God commanded him to destroy
everything of the Amalekites; out of disobedience, Saul saved the best of the animals to
sacrifice. I wonder, is Saul sure he wanted to sacrifice to God or to kill those animals and
celebrate with his people! Because of the act of disobedience, Saul lost God’s blessing of
kingship.
1 Samuel 8:26
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou has rejected the word of
the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
The blessing of God is a great privilege. Whatever ways God has blessed us; we must follow
God and obey every instruction He gives us. We need not limit or relinquish the blessing of
God over our life by disobedience. Don’t forget disobedience to God and His commandment
is very costly.

2. Unfaithfulness to God.

2 Corinthians 4:2
Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

Ezekiel 14:13
Son of man, if a country sins against Me by committing unfaithfulness, and I stretch out
my hand against it, destroy its supply of bread, send famine against it and cut off from it
both man and beast.
What does it mean to be unfaithful? To be unfaithful is not being loyal, reliable, worthy of
trust , or consistent with reality. Many become unfaithful to the things of God once they
begin to experience the blessing of God in their life. There are people whose commitment to
the things of God becomes questionable simply because of some opportunities and
breakthroughs they have gotten. They tend to abandon the work of God and are no more
faithful to the things of God. Unfaithfulness angers God. It is a sin in the very eyes of God. It
is a sign that you have forgotten the source of your blessing. We shouldn’t forget we are only
custodians of the blessing of God and the moment we begin to act contrary to the standard of
God for sustaining His blessing, it will retreat from us. Ezekiel 14:13.

3. Ungratefulness to God.
Luke 17:11-18
And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria
and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were
lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have
mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, go shew yourselves unto the
priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when
he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down
on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering
said, were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? There are not found that
returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
After the ten lepers received their blessing of being healed miraculously, only one of them
came back to Jesus to thank Him and give glory to God. Jesus was expecting the ten of them
to come back and give glory to His father, unfortunately, I would say, the nine forgot how
they received their miracle therefore never showed up to where Jesus was.
Many a time, we forget to be grateful to the Lord for His blessing over our life, ministry,
marriage, business, and all our endeavors. Ungratefulness to God is a sin in God’s eye and
that can cause the withdrawal of God’s blessing. The blessing of God is a privilege and we
need to be very grateful to God for appointing unworthy people like us to experience His
manifold blessing.
The very reason why ungratefulness withdraws God’s blessing is because ungratefulness
promotes haughtiness and pride. Many people become boastful and rude just because of the
blessing of God. They forget their source and probably begin to think it’s their intelligence,
beauty, smartness, or whatever. Dear friend, we are nothing and we would have remained
empty if not for the blessing of God. God hates pride and would fight against any sign of
pride.
Ungratefulness draws one away from God and closes the channel of God’s favor. It takes
those who walk in a close relationship with God to experience His divine blessing. We
should learn to be thankful to God in all ways. We shouldn’t forget how God turned our
mourning to joy, our pain to a celebration, our illness to divine health, and our tragedy into
triumph. Don’t ever forget, ungratefulness withdraws God’s blessing!

4. Attack of the devil.

Job 1:9-11
Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou
made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side?
Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But
put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
The blessing of God attracts the envy of the devil. The devil is the greatest enemy against
our blessing. Job was a perfect man and his faithfulness made God bless him above all the
men in the east. Satan personally supervised the falling of Job. He attacked the blessing of
Job and within the shortest possible time, Job lost everything.
Any believer who truly seeks to do the will of God should understand he is a target of the
attack of the devil. The purpose of the devil is to steal, kill and destroy your blessing to
discourage you from faithfully serving and walking with God. John 10:10. Let’s consider
what happened to Job. He lost all his children, his wealth, his sheep, and everything good
about him. To worsen the case, the devil stroked him with painful boils and agony all over
his body.
The devil is very nervous and unhappy with a believer who is experiencing the blessing of
God. He can appoint a human agent to act wickedly, attack and destroy your blessing. The
devil always has the mission of fighting against the true children of God and will go to any
extent to make sure you lose whatever blessing the Lord has blessed you with.

Considering the points discussed above, it very necessary that we guide and watch our ways
and act accordingly as described by the bible to sustain the blessing of God upon our life.
To sustain the blessing of God, prayer is key. It is through prayer that we can leash war
against the devil and his cohort to disarm them of their attacks against the blessing of God
upon our life. Linger with God in prayer. Don’t allow anything to take the place of the time
you have with God in prayer. Prayer has the power to protect and preserve your blessing.
Psalm 55:22
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the
righteous to be moved.
Faithfulness to God and our fellow men is also very substantial to the sustenance of God’s
blessing upon our lives. We need to understand that, whenever God blesses a man, we are
only stewards of His blessing. God demands absolute faithfulness to Him, without which the
blessing of God will retreat from our life. As believers, we need to remain faithful to the end.
Remain faithful by continuously staying close to God. Don’t allow the benefits you are
enjoying to take you away from the presence of God. Devote much time to develop intimacy
with God’s word. Your blessing is preserved by how intimate you are with God.
2 Corinthians 4:2
Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

Anyone who wants to sustain the blessing of God must learn to be obedient to God’s word. It
is through our obedience to God and His word that will help us come into a close
relationship with God and walk fully in the blessing and enjoy the rewards that we deserve.
God demands our obedience to Him because it is a sign of our trust in Him. It proves to God
that, you are stepping aside for Him, His Word, the Holy Spirit ,and His ways to operate in
your life.
Isaiah 1:19
If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.

Deuteronomy 11:27-28
A blessing, if ye obey…………and a curse, if ye not obey….
Finally, don’t forget to be thankful to God for all his benefits and blessing upon us.
Remember to thank God continually and show your gratitude to him through worshipping
and honoring him. Psalm 103:1-2.
Don’t ever forget the fact that, ungratefulness and the dishonoring of God can cause your
blessings to be revoked. Mal 2:2

EIGHT ADVICE FOR THE BLESSED

Proverbs 19:20 (NIV)

Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.

1. Continuously learn to be appreciative and thankful to God for His blessing.

Psalm 103:1-2
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the
Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

James 1:17
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father
of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change”

Nothing turns us into bitter, selfish, dissatisfied people more quickly than an
ungrateful heart. We need to learn to be always thankful to God for all His blessings.
Ingratitude is a sin just as lying or stealing or immorality or any other sin condemned
by the bible. Never forget that all the blessings we are enjoying are given to us by no
one else but, God. (1 Chron. 29:12-14, NIV). Dear beloved, because God has blessed
us, we should always be thankful to him for each of His blessings.

2. Don’t get puffed up with pride.

James 4:6
“….. wherefore he said, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble”
Pride will harm your faith. Pride will neutralize the grace of God in your life. Pride
can make you compare your blessings with others which can kill your joy and replace
it with envy. Pride will make God resist you.
There is always the danger of pride puffing up when God blesses a man.

Luke 12:16-20
And he spake a parable unto them saying, the ground of a certain rich man brought
forth plentifully: and he thought within himself, saying, what shall I do, because I
have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, this will I do: I will pull down
my barns, and build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And
I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine
ease, eat, drink and be merry. But god said unto him, thou fool, this night thy soul
shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast
provided?

The rich man in the passage above allowed the blessings of God in his life to make
him puffed up with pride. He started boasting in what he has acquired and God took
his life.
Many people make the mistake of becoming arrogant, pompous, and full of
themselves when God begins to bless them. Some all of a sudden begin to feel
superior, very important, and high and mighty. This is an error. Never allow that!
Let the blessings of God keep you humble. Humility is a sign of great blessedness.
Guide your heart and never allow the blessings of God to make you puffed up with
pride.

3. Attempt to be a blessing to others.

Genesis 12:3
“….and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
God has blessed us so we can also be a blessing to others. As the Lord has blessed
you, attempt to be gracious to others too through your acts and deeds. Attempt to be
kind to others. Attempt to bring sunshine into the lives of others. If God saves you, try
to allow God to use you to save others. Attempt to make your life a benefit to the lives
of others. Don’t keep it all to yourself.

4. Never get disconnected from your source of blessing.

1 chronicles 29:12,14
Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand
is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto
all……… but who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so
willingly after this sort? For all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given
thee.

It is important to stay glued to your source of blessing with unmatched enthusiasm.

Many people tend to move away from God when they get blessed. It is as though the
blessing is a curse. Many hearts are turned from God after they receive God’s
blessing. This is my humble advice, stay connected. The blessing of God should not
separate you from God.
Genesis 30:27
And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry:
for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake.

God brings certain people into our lives to be a blessing to us, but in the end, we fail to
stay connected. Laban’s demonstration of holding on to Jacob tells a great lesson.
Never let go of your source of blessing.
God uses a particular church to bless you, and then you allow certain circumstances to
set in and get you disconnected.
Your blessings will last when you learn to stay plugged into your source. Always keep
connected.

5. Don’t despise or look down on others.

1 Corinthians 11:22
What? Have ye not houses to eat and drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and
shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I
praise you not.

We should not allow the blessing of God to make us look down and despise others.
Learn to treat everybody with respect and dignity.

6. Teach and help others how to get blessed.

2Timothy 2:2
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit
thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

One way of transferring blessings is teaching and helping others to get blessed. If God
saves you, teach others how to get saved. Every blessing God gives you, commit to
others so they can also learn the secret to greatness. Never be selfish!
7. Always understand and be conscious of the fact that it is only a privilege to be
blessed, hence always stay humble.
James 1:7
“Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the father of
lights….”

Psalm 127:1
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it……”

The blessing of the Lord is a supernatural reward, which comes with its benefits,
advantage, goodness, and favor which is not enjoyed by everybody. We need to have
the understanding that, whatever we enjoy from the Lord is a privilege. Why do I say a
blessing is a privilege? God is not under any obligation to bless us. No effort of man
can make God bless us. Ways of attracting God’s blessing were laid up by God as a
way of expressing His love for mankind. You can’t force God to bless you. He blesses
because of His tender love for you not because of anything you do for him. God
understands what it means to live in this world more than you do because He created
it. God knows the effect of the absence of His blessing in our survival on this earth,
that is why He created the mystery of the release of His blessing for those who are His
to live a life of difference and to live on the better side. Check around you, how many
people are blessed? How many people have been to school in your family? How many
people are having peace in their lives and marriages as you have? How many people
are staying healthy and debt-free as you do? How many people are succeeding in their
ministry, business, career and other endeavors of life like you are doing? How many?
Be sincere, how many people!
When you understand that all your blessings are only a privilege, you will learn to be
appreciative to God and stay humble if not you will be tempted to think it’s your effort
of what you are doing for God that is why you are blessed. It’s only a privilege!

8. Honor the Lord with thy blessing so He does not curse or reverse your blessing.

Malachi 2:2
If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith
the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed the
already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

Your blessings can be cursed by God. Your blessings can be reversed by God. How?
The bible says when we fail to honor or give glory to Him in the midst of we partaking
in His blessings. When we fail to honour God, it breaks our rightful relationship with
God. In our blessings, God expects us to honor Him.
How do I honor the Lord? Honor the Lord by acknowledging Him. Honour the Lord
with your substance. (Proverbs 3:9). Bless God with your substance He will be
glorified. Honor the Lord with thanksgiving and worship.

Amen
