Enter your design parameters for input and output within the above specifications. You can choose the R-C
snubber circuit and different packages based on your own design requirements.
1
The “Next” button serves the same function as the “Create Design” button on this page and either can be clicked
once all the design requirements are entered.
You can select a part among power MOSFETs, recommended by input voltage and MOSFET type in Step 1. For the
diode (D1 in Analyze tab), this tool uses an ideal model for the analysis and can adjust the VF, Trr at the Analyze
page. You can also pick up to four FETs in parallel operation. Click “Next” once MOSFETs are selected.

Step 3
Analyze
After completing Step 2, the tool will display an open loop boost converter using the MOSFET solutions you picked.
If necessary, you can adjust PCB parasitic component values (LQ1, Lsource, Lgate, and LD1) and input/output
power specifications too. The gate driver pop-up will provide flexibility that can adjust driver’s sink/source
capabilities.
Click on Run Transient Analysis to simulate your design so that the tool displays a dynamic waveform calculator,
Webscope. Waveforms can be manipulated here (e.g. like an oscilloscope). Simulation stop time, default 100 us
setting.

Waveform results show Output, Input and Switching. Click the tabs to analyze each of the waveforms. Use the
cursor by adjusting arrow buttons on the graph or by expanding the waveform using the scope.
You can zoom into a waveform by clicking on “Marquee Zoom”, then rubber-band a box around the area you want
to expand. To return to full view, hit “Reset Zoom” (second button from the top).
Use check-markers to
display/hide particular
waveforms, or use the
four black buttons: Hide
All, Show All, Move
Reset zoom
Down, Move Up (to
expose a waveform
hidden behind another).

Switching Frequency: To display the switching frequency, drag the markers to enclose exactly one switching period,
then change the first drop-down menu from Δt to 1/Δt. The first number listed below is the switching
frequency; the rest remain the differences between the waveform values at the two markers.
Cursor Reading: In the drop-down menus, “M” means “between markers”; otherwise the calculation is performed
on the entire displayed waveform. Marker value includes RMS, AVG, MIN, MAX, Peak to Peak and Slope.
Drag the markers
(vertical cursors) to
narrow the time
interval for waveform
calculations below.

Step 4
Efficiency
The tool shows efficiency and power losses by the increase of output current. You can find passive component
losses of input and output filter, diode, driver, MOSFET losses.
Step 5 Summary
The “Summary” tab will show the result for selected power MOSFETs, operating conditions, bill of materials,
configured schematic, waveforms and efficiency. You can save the results by clicking the PDF button. You can save
your design to return later and resume working with it. Your design is confidential, accessible only with your login.
