IV. Time Frame: Week 5 Day 1 to 3

V. Concept:

In this series of modules, it is emphasized that the Christian family is an example

of the communion that exists among the three divine persons: Father, Son, and Spirit.
From this communion flows love and out of love comes God’s wonderful creation of the
universe and everything in it, including human being. The family shares this distinct
characteristics of the Trinity. With love as the foundation of the family, they continue the
work of creation by being co – creators in this world.

At the end of these modules, you are expected to demonstrate understanding of

what family is, its responsibility in relation to the society and the Church, and the value of
prayer to remain as one. Furthermore, you should be able to contribute as member of the
family to the society and the Church finding inspiration and strength in prayer.

OVERVIEW:

• Love is the reason two people decide to form a family. Christ’s love for His Church is
the perfect model of family love.
• Jesus gave a very strong message to the Pharisees when He quoted the Old
Testament that God originally created man and woman for one another and that He did
not want them to be separated but to be one. Their unity shall only be separated by
death. This is also why their commitment does not only become good when they like
the situation, but they promise to take care of each other in the worst situation. “…for
poorer or richer, in sickness and in health, till death do they part.”

• Concern is an attitude, an act of being sensitive to the need of others. And such
concern should be cultivated in the family.
• God calling Abraham and giving him blessings is symbolic of what God desires. He
wanted to gather His people and let them commune to one another. He gave them
blessings so that they might remain one.
• It is God’s desire that people live as a family. He blesses them and gives them all the
graces they need to face the odds of life. He knows and wants them to realize how
each life indeed begins and grows in the family that it must be protected and kept
according to His plan.
VI. Activity: Let’s try these!
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY: ANO’NG SAY MO?
TASK: Take a look at the passage given below. Then, provide your own interpretation
and understanding of it in the space given. Answer in AT LEAST 3 SENTENCES.

Love is the reason two people decide to form a family. Christ’s

love for His Church is the perfect model of family love.
Your interpretation: To procreate is only the decision between the couple to step one step
ahead in their relationship. Christ's love is an example of the perfect love you can give to your
family, friends, and everybody. Love is the main reason the couple wants to form and start their
own lives with their own family. The church is also why the couple decided to love and commit
for the rest of their lives and promise God that they will put him in the center of their relationship.

B. WE PRAY TOGETHER, WE STAY TOGETHER

TASK: Take a look at the table given below. Your task is to fill in the table with your
answers regarding your experience (or observation) of the joys and sorrows of having a
family. You may write your own unique experiences, but be careful not to get too
personal so as to not reveal any deep secrets of your family.

What are the joys that a family brings? List down at least three (3).
forgiveness
Respect
God

What are the sorrows that a family experiences? List down at least three (3)

Disrespectfulness
Dishonesty
No time for bonding

Why do you think that a family that prays together stays together?

The family that prays together stays together because they asked God to
guide their family and relationship and let the shine, shine through the
darkest days of their lives.

How do you think can you help your family stay together?

For a family to stay together, they need to be respectful to each other, love
one another as they ask God to guide their family and lives, and lastly, every
week, at least have one day off to bond with your family and have a blast
capture every moment with them.

C. WHERE DO BROKEN HEARTS GO?
TASK: On the table given below, list down five (5) common reasons why families end up
broken and for each reason, identify how it can be avoided.

REASONS WHY FAMILIES END UP WAYS THESE REASONS CAN BE

BROKEN AVOIDED
Dishonesty Whenever you do something, and your
partner or family member asks you what
you did, tell them the truth rather than
keeping it to yourself and the day will come
they find it themselves. Don't be afraid, to
tell the truth, because it will free you.
Disrespectful Always respect yourself, family members,
and partners whenever they say something
or do something because one of the
requirements of love is respect.
Close-minded Being in a family and relationship has
many opinions, different sights, and
different minds, so you need to keep your
minds open so that you and your family or
partner will keep the connection forever.
Ungrateful Being ungrateful isn't the thing to keep
your connection. Whenever your family or
partner gives you something, always
appreciate it because they lend time to buy
or get you something you will remember for
the rest of your life.
Misunderstanding Misunderstanding is normal in a family or
relationship; always have an open heart
and mind to make up and understand
them.

MY FAITHBOOK
TASK: Reflect into the concept that you have discovered in this module. Then, fill in your
Faithbook with your answers. Please keep in mind that your Faithbook reflections are
recorded as your written work.

How does a good Christian family become a witness to the world?

The family must attend Sunday school and church worship services together regularly or
as often as their schedules allow. Furthermore, as Christians, we have opportunities to
encourage other believers and testify to visitors and outsiders in that context.
How do parents participate in the creative act of God?
Parents participate in the creation of God by pro-creating their love for each other and
adopting a child. And God created the world, so as parents, they have to teach their
children that they have to take care of the environment and themselves because
everything we see is the creation of God.
