LESSON 3 UNIT 3 – LEARN TO LOVE OTHERS

WORKSHEET 3

LEARN TO OBEY
VALUE TO KEEP: OBEDIENCE

I. BEGIN

GOD’S TEN RULES

One day, Moses climbed the mountain called “Mt. Sinai” so that he could
pray to God. God told him to return to the mountain
after a few days.
God wanted
to give
Moses new
rules for
His people
to follow.
When Moses
went back to the mountain,
God gave him the ten rules that
people should know and obey.
God wrote these rules on two stone
tablets. Moses
carried the tablets down the mountain to show them to the people. These
ten rules came to be known as “The TEN COMMANDMENTS of God.”

God wants us to obey these rules. He wants us to become worthy

children of His kingdom.

1
II. THINK ABOUT IT

Do you remember the Ten Commandments of God? Encircled is

one of God’s commandment every child should know and obey.

God tells us to honor our parents - which is the first commandment with a
promise — “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on
the earth.” God also wants us to honor our other elders. We honor our parents
and elders when we respect and obey them.

A. OBEDIENCE AT HOME

At home, we obey our parents, grandparents and older brothers and

sisters. They know what is good for us. We should do what they tell us to. Of
course, we only obey and follow the good rules. We do not do what we know
is bad.

2
B. OBEDIENCE IN SCHOOL

In school, we also obey our teacher’s instructions and advice. Their

advice and instructions tell
us how to do well in class.
We also obey school leaders
and helpers. We follow
school rules and regulations
because they tell us how to
behave properly. We obey
signs because they tell us
the right thing to do.
If we break the rules, people
might get hurt.

C. OBEDIENCE IN THE COMMUNITY

In the community,
we obey signs that we see or
read in the public places.
These are examples of rules,
ordinances or laws for a
law-abiding citizen.

Rules and regulations are enforced to guide our actions. Without them,
there would be no discipline and order in the society. They should be observed
at home, in school and in the community. People can do whatever they want.
They can cause trouble.
People who break the law are given appropriate punishments. These
punishments help us learn from our mistakes. We can avoid punishment when
we do the right thing.
Obedient children are loved by their families and other people. Most of
all, GOD LOVES OBEDIENT CHILDREN.
