BACKGROUND The Philippines has a continuously rising amount of waste and
AND RATIONALE
is expected to further increase in the succeeding years. As

reviewed, associated problems with solid waste management in the

country include an increasing amount of solid waste, weak law

implementation, scarcity of sanitary landfills, and improper

disposal. Over the past years, proper waste disposal and

management has been a huge issue for many. Particularly, to

students who don't know the proper way to segregate the trash

from biodegradable and non degradable, lessen its use and recycle

the used materials for another thing. Now that scientists have

warned everyone that the planet is in danger and if every student

neglects their own responsibility to the environment, problems will

continue to come and can have a huge impact on it.

The proponents have chosen the population of Junior High

School Students of Mandaluyong High School specifically Grade

8. It is because of the fact that Grade 8 students are easy to

communicate when it comes to these things and their minds are

capable of accessing all the information provided. Also, it is better

that as a youth, Grade 8 students should know how effective and

important proper waste disposal is to everyday life. Proper waste

disposal is very essential to tackle, especially in battling today's

problem on our planet, Earth.

Students nowadays are neglecting the fact that knowing how to

properly deal with your own trash and being responsible for it is

very important. It is a basic thing to know that throwing your trash

at the right places or trash cans is significant, but many have failed

to do so. Most of the students are aware of the right way to dispose

of trash, especially 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, but despite

having awareness about this, students didn't put it into practice

which is alarming. If this problem continues to occur, it will be

hard to continuously remind everyone the same thing.

As a result, improperly thrown wastes are spread and are not

controlled. Schools become unpleasant and messy due to litter.

Scattered trash makes it more challenging for janitors to clean the

school, which adds to their stress. In addition, waste from schools,

such as plastic and paper, may find its way into waterways. Not

knowing how to properly deal with this problem can cause land

and air pollution that can do harm and serious medical conditions

to humans, animals and even plants.

REVIEW AND This project entitled SAGIP KALIKASAN: THINK BEFORE

APPROVAL
REMARKS YOU LITTER, EFFECT WILL NOT BE BIGGER aims to help

the Grade 8 students of Mandaluyong High School to have self

discipline by teaching them the proper ways of disposing trash so

that they can be a much more responsible person not just in the

present time but also in the future in dealing with their own waste.

And, as we continue to strive and teach the importance of it, not

just in our school but in our planet, it will result in a better

environment where cleanliness is maintained.
