Communication plan is a document, which shows details of the set goals, targeted people

in communications, means of accessing them, message targeted to get out of them and ways of

distributing the message. Effective communication is one of the important activities that should

take place in any company as well as a school. In case of poor communication, information will

be misinterpreted hence creating confusion between the employees and the management.

Development of a clear and comprehensive communication plan ensures smooth running of the

business. Involvement of stakeholders in the communication plan sets organizational culture. For

the plan to meet most of the communication need, a lot of research is conducted with the help of

technology during the process of putting it together. The Chief Executive Officer of the business

or the managing Director carries out successful implementation of the communication plan,

(Esliger, 2017).

With presence of a comprehensive communication plan, schools can easily be promoted

to parents and the community at large. This will help attract other students and staff members

will be successfully engaged. The way the school handles its website, social media pages and

school newsletters should all be included in the communication plan. A comprehensive

communication plan is normally developed annually basing on the previous year evaluation. It

consists of the following parts;

Set goals and ways of achieving them. Public schools aim at increasing community and

family involvement in the school activities. This eases the effectiveness of communication both

inside and outside the school. The communication plan identifies and states the school mission,

vision, and key stakeholders. Stakeholders include students, families. Team members and the

community at large. Goals addressing the needs of our stakeholders are set in our communication

plan. For effective communication, it is very vital to identify the targeted audience. This
communication plan mostly targets students and other stakeholders. Key messages to be

communicated are techniques to be employed to expand the rate at which information is

distributed between students and team members, (Esliger, 2017).

Engagement of stakeholders empowers them to take ownership of the school. Some of

our core beliefs include; Firstly, students can be prepared for their future by encouraging

creativity and innovative educational opportunities. Student achievement and community trust

can be promoted through open and honest communication. Furthermore, there is belief that all

students can achieve a meaningful education, (Esliger, 2017).

The communication plan also entails the school`s commitments and these include;

preparing students for their life after school, communicate openly and honestly to students and

other community members, celebrate success of their students and ensuring safe environment

with safe climate and positive ideas.

Our communication plan involves the use of various communication tools for effective

communication and involvement of the stakeholders. Mostly the internal audience uses email

letters for a few times in a month. This helps to notice and create awareness of the students and

other stakeholders about the meetings to be held and when they will take place. Furthermore, the

school informs the external audience about the various activities to be held at the school through

community newsletters. Social media platforms such as face book, instagram, and twitter are also

used to communicate to some stakeholders who use these applications, (Esliger, 2017).

For the successful implementation of the communication plan, stakeholders are engaged

in the process through surveys, forum groups, and community forums. Various case studies have
been collected to explore how other districts over came the challenges they faced and the means

used to achieve success.
