Frankenstein

During their chase, the monster leaves Frankenstein with the following inscription,

among others: “My reign is not yet over. You live, and my power is complete. Why is this

so?

The marks written by the monster on the trees and stones were to help guide Frankenstein

throughout his journey. This is because Frankenstein swallowed all his voluntary thoughts and

revenge to gain strength and courage to complete his journey. Even in the moments of death, he

kept his feelings calm with aims of fulfilling the monster`s request. The monster left

Frankenstein with such inscriptions because he believed that there is more everlasting misery of

frost and coldness of ices in the North. He asked him to follow him so that they can fight for

their lives when that time comes. Frankenstein promised not to end the search for the scoffing

devil who had tortured his friend to death. He also promised that either he or the devil should die

for the search to end. The devil said that for his power to be complete, Frankenstein should

withstand the thickened snows and the increase in the degree of coldness in the North. Due to

this weather condition, the animals were forced to move from their hiding places in search of

prey due to starvation. Since ice had covered the rivers, no fish could survive in the rivers.

Frankenstein found it difficult to maintain his article. The monster also knew that the journey to

satisfying his everlasting hatred was not going to be easy. That is why he asked Frankenstein to

prepare his toils, food and wrap himself in fur, (Shelley, n.d).

The gigantic monster was very equipped and armed with a gun and numerous pistols.

Basing on his terrific appearance, the people occupying the solitary cottage were very scared of

him. The stores of the inhabitants of the cottages were carried by the gigantic monster and placed

in the sledge. According to the horror-struck villagers, the monster should be destroyed very fast

by breaking the ice since he had used the route across the sea, (Shelley, n.d). This made

Frankenstein very desperate since he thought that the monster had escaped. He therefore decided

to continue with the journey through the oceans full of ice, which was very risky and destructive

to the extent that it could lead to the end of the journey. There was no hope of survival because

even the inhabitants were unable to withstand the conditions. However, Frankenstein continued

with the journey. He further continued to prepare for his journey due to the rise of the spirits of

the dead by exchanging his land sledge with plenty of stock provisions to help him pass through

the frozen ocean. As the monster said, the journey was not easy; Frankenstein experienced a lot

of misery, which involved eternal pain burning inside his heart. He was threatened by the rugged

ice mountains and the thunder of the ground sea, which hindered him from continuing with his

journey. However, the existence of frost cleared his path. Hope was the only thing that helped

Frankenstein to complete his journey. Otherwise, he would have given up due to the

immeasurable misery he had passed through. Frankenstein managed to complete the journey.

However, he was rescued by the vessel riding at the anchor after most of his dogs had died and

him was about to sink in the ocean. Despite him being very tired, he managed to move his ice

raft towards the ship. He also destroyed his sledge very fast and built oars. Although, the owner

of the boat was riding in a different direction, Frankenstein hoped to persuade him to give him

his boat to continue with his plans of pursuing his enemies, (Shelley, n.d).

Following the death of William, Elizabeth and Frankenstein`s father, the deep grief

Frankenstein had forced him to revenge for their death. All he needed was a mortal conflict

between him and the daemon in which either him or the daemon that had caused the misery, shall

perish. He therefore requested for the help of the spirits of the dead to help him execute his

revenge. He wanted the monster to feel the same torments that he is also experiencing. His vows

were heard since a fiendish and loud voice full of laughs rang in his ears saying he was satisfied

since Frankenstein was very determined to live and exercise justice for their death. Frankenstein

and the monster were enemies, the monster preferred Frankenstein to exercise his revenge by

fulfilling his request while alive than destroying him. According to the daemon, time shall reach

when he will die, he will no longer experience burning miseries, and his ashes will be swept in to

the sea. His spirit will peacefully sleep as long as his reign is still carried on. The monster says

that his work is almost done. Therefore, death of either the daemon or Frankenstein is the least

thing required for the accomplishment of his work. According to the daemon, sooner or later, he

will die as well as Frankenstein. But their remembrance and legacy will speedily be forgotten by

the world, (Shelley, n.d). However, he will be very happy if the images afforded by the world

after numerous years have passed were discovered by him. Death is the only consolation left for

the daemon and the only way to rest peacefully. However, he would have still enjoyed staying in

a place full of warmth of summer and continuing hearing the rustling of the leaves as well as the

singing birds. Due to curiosity and compassion in the daemon`s voice, Frankenstein`s need to

destroy his enemy were postponed. The monster was filled with envy and thirst for vengeance

after he found out that Frankenstein hoped for happiness and passion besides the unspeakable

torments he passed through due to the existence of the daemon. All his threats were gathered and

resolved to focus on the accomplishment of his desires. Frankenstein had to prepare for a deadly

journey where he was not the master but the slave. Although he detested it, he could not disobey.

His only choice was to accomplish the task that he had willing agreed on. The devil murdered the

innocent, lovely and helpless and asked Frankenstein to accomplish his desires that had never

injured any living thing. Every time he looks on his hands that executed the acts, he imagines

them in a way that after some time, they will no longer exist. The expressions of misery and the

cast of his never existing friends touched the daemon. He said that the world will later appreciate

him for the excellent qualities he unfolded, (Shelley, n.d).
