Socialization and Forms of Capital

All social classes consist of domestic violence .However it is more

experienced in lower social classes compared to higher social classes.

Relationships involving adolescents exercise more violence especially during

unemployment conditions. Keeping it as a secret by most families lowers the

domestic violence statistics indications compared to the actual incidences of

domestic violence. Most victim of domestic violence is the Low income

earning women between 16 and 35 years compared to the women in the

high income bracket. Sociologists should carry out more survey on women in

the low income brackets and between ages of 16 and 35 to achieve an exact

value of the level of domestic violence, (Parcel & Bixby, 2015).

Laureau`s observations were centered on organization of daily

activities, use of language and relations with institutions. They explain to us

the upper-middle -class class children have an activity calendar and more

resources with structure compared to poor children. The language used by

parents during parent child conversation of middle class children is always

encouraging unlike for poor children. Middle class children are always

encouraged to express their opinions and ask questions at school.

Furthermore, institutions intimidate parents of poor children, (Parcel &

Bixby, 2015).

Capital refers to the value which has the ability to yield future benefits

and accumulates with in a given period of time. According to Pierre Bourdier,

there exist three types of capital. These include, Economic, cultural and

social capital. Economic capital is basically in form of money, cultural deals

with education and etiquette and finally social capital deals with friendship

and mutual obligations. Bourdier stresses that the capacity of change

determines the value of each type of capital. Social capital strengthens social

bonds between children and their parents through ensuring social

adjustments. Family social capital enables children to make occupational and

social class distinctions which follow the line of their adults. Elders ensure

that their children acquire sophiscated notions during every stage of their

childhood. In my opinion, cultural capital is more important for fostering a

child since it bridges the gap between social and economical capital, (Parcel

& Bixby, 2015).
