Scenario
A man, 31 years old, come to the private clinic, with the complaint of sleep disorder since
3 month ago. He said, that he got fall a sleep late every night, even he had go to the bed
early. By this condition he feel sleepy when wake up in the morning and difficult to work
optimally. On physical examination was found all the system were normal. He followed
shift work at an industry that operated 24 hours. His scheduled was 7 day work in the
morning, and 7 days work in the night. This schedulled has been done for 6 months.

Learning task
1. Identify the problem of the worker and explain why this happen !
2. Base on ergonomics, what concept can be used to identify the problems. Why ?
3. Base on the case, what is your suggestion to the patient and others !

Scenario
A man, 50 years old, come to the general practitioner clinic with the complaint of pain on
his low back since two weeks ago. The complaint was intermittent and getting worse when
continuous work at the workplace. His job is gallon mineral water lifter as shown in picture.
On physical examination was found that blood pressure was normal, tenderness and
stiffness on the low back without any inflammation.
Learning task
1. Identify the problem of the patient!
2. What is your opinion about the task of this patient?

Scenario
A woman, 25 years old come to general practitioner clinic with the complaint of sleep
disorder. She felt nausea and headache, too. The complaint was occur since she was
work as a telephone operator in the call center, must work at the night. Her schedule was
3–3–3 (3 days afternoon, 3 days morning, 3 days night). On physical examination was
found that her blood pressure increase, heart rate increase, pain on epigastrium.
Laboratory test was normal.

Learning task
1. Is the problem was interrelated ? Is there an effect of shift work ? Explain !
2. What is problem of night work to the human body system ?

Environment aspect of Ergonomics

Scenario
Nana, 45, an employee of a patient's medical record storage room at a hospital in Denpasar,
complained of a recurring cough and was advised to go to the pulmonary polyclinic for treatment.
Some of his co-workers are worried that they will be infected. Cough symptoms are felt especially
during weekdays, and decrease during work holidays. Nana's office is air conditioned, uses
artificial lighting and in one narrow workspace is occupied by about 20 workers.

Learning task
Discuss, and answer the questions in the following learning tasks:
1. Explain what might happen to Nana!
2. Explain the role of ergonomic aspects of the work environment on health risks and work
productivity of health workers!
3. Explain about building related illness, and working environment conditions that are at risk
of causing Legionnaire's disease!
