Relation between Carbon cycle and Biodiversity with the changes of Biotic and
Abiotic factors

Carbon cycle and Biodiversity both are very important parts in our environment system. Basically
they are inter related with each other. All organic substances are held together by carbon, which is
the basic building component of life. The carbon cycle is the mechanism through which carbon
gets redistributed on the planet. Carbon cycle is a very important element for our environment
because all the trees are dependent on carbon dioxide. Besides this cycle biodiversity is also a very
important part for all living and non-living things. The variety of plants and animals, as well as
other living things, in a certain area or region is called Biodiversity. Many types of plants, animals,
birds, and insects live in this world and these are dependent on the environment. So when the
environment is much diversified they can easily find their best option to live and the carbon cycle
has a great effect on this biodiversity process.
Carbon is required for the production of complex substances like proteins and DNA, which is why
it is the building block of all life on Earth. Our atmosphere also contains carbon dioxide, which is
a type of such an element (CO2). Carbon helps to keep the Earth's climate stable, is essential for
all life, is a key ingredient in our food, and is a vital source of energy for our global
economy. Photosynthesis is the process through which plants generate their food by combining
carbon dioxide, water, and sunshine. The most of carbon on Earth is contained in rocks and
sediments, with the rest in the ocean, atmosphere, and living things. Carbon cycles flow through
these sinks, also known as reservoirs. Volcanoes explode, flames ignite, fossil fuels burn, and a
number of other processes all release carbon into the atmosphere when animals die. Biodiversity
is the variety of plants and animals, as well as other living things, in a certain area or region. Also
refers to the number or abundance of diverse species found in a given area. The word was
developed in 1985 as a shortening of "biological diversity," but the massive global biodiversity
losses currently being revealed signal a crisis on pace with – if not greater than – climate change.
Biodiversity is mainly composed of several levels, starting with genes, moving on to particular
species, groups of organisms, and finally huge ecosystems like forests or coastal ecosystems,
where living mixes with the physical surroundings. In a more philosophical sense, biodiversity
reflects the knowledge gathered by evolving species over millions of years about how to thrive in
the very different environmental settings that Earth has encountered. Experts warn that humanity
is currently "burning the library of life" in this light. There are four major types of Biodiversity
they are species, genetic, ecosystem and functional diversity. All these are very essential for our
environment. Biotic and abiotic factors have a great impact on our ecosystem.
Carbon cycle and biodiversity are inter related with each other. So all the living elements discharge
carbon dioxide in our environment and they receive Oxygen from the environment. By this process
they survive in the world. Besides this all the plants are receiving those carbon and complete their
food cycle. If we have a small number of tropical forest, trees we face a lot of trouble and the
whole world will become full of carbon. And when the level of carbon is higher our whole
ecosystem will fall down and all the living and nonliving elements will also face many difficulties.
So the carbon cycle is very important for our ecosystem. This cycle has a great impact on
biodiversity. When the level of biodiversity is higher the chances of survival for the plants,
animals, and insects are also high. But everyone cannot adapt to all environments. So when

summer environment friendly species come to winter friendly environment they can’t survive well.
Therefore the layer of carbon has an impact for diversification. Non-living variables in an
ecosystem, such as temperature, pH, and moisture levels, are referred to as abiotic factors.
Extremes of an abiotic factor can limit ecosystem biodiversity. Ecosystems with very low
temperatures, for example, have minimal biodiversity. Biotic factors are also changed for
biodiversity and carbon cycle. All living species are dependent on the environment, so when the
abiotic factors changed they also changed.
Biodiversity creates ideal conditions for, and drives, the processes that allow species to survive.
Biodiversity benefits the global community in terms of ecological, economic, and cultural values.
People require ecosystems for adaptability, and ecosystems require people. Biodiversity plays a
vital role in directly addressing human needs while preserving the ecological processes on which
our survival is dependent. Biodiversity is a national asset that contributes significantly to economic
growth, natural resource supply, ecological processes, and human well-being. Biodiversity has
direct and indirect use like food, fiber, genetic resources, air quality regulation, climate regulation,
water purification, educational values, knowledge system etc.
There are some threats to biodiversity, those are man-made and naturally originated. Natural
disasters like flood, heavy rain, drought etc. and overexploitation, habitat loss, habitat
fragmentation, exotic/invasive species, pollution, climate change etc. Day by day these threats are
increasing because of our unawareness for the environment and the ozone layer is rapidly heavy
with carbon.
The carbon cycle is the process through which carbon is redistributed over the globe. Because all
trees rely on carbon dioxide, the carbon cycle is a critical component of our ecology. Aside from
this cycle, biodiversity is an essential component for all living and non-living objects. Biodiversity
refers to the variety of plants and animals, as well as other living things, found in a certain area or
region. On our planet, there are many different sorts of plants, animals, birds, and insects, all of
which are dependent on the environment. So we can see that carbon cycle and biodiversity both
are interrelated. We have to be more aware of our environment so that we can overcome all the
threats and all the species can live peacefully.
