Solution 1
The matter of protecting Indigenous Peoples' fundamental rights and ensuring their participation in the
development process so they can lead better, brighter, and more affluent lifestyles must be brought to
the government's attention. Although there have been improvements, Indigenous Peoples and ethnic
minorities still endure exclusion and marginalization and lack equal access to basic services. This is
because they are more likely to be poor. Additionally, Indigenous Peoples contribute to environmental
protection, the battle against climate change, and disaster preparedness, but their rights are not always
upheld.
THE PROBLEM
Violence and brutality have been reported from all over the world, most commonly against indigenous
peoples defending their rights and their lands, territories, and communities.
