ACTIVITY 1: INTRODUCTION TO TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION

1. Find a website of an organization that hires graduates in your major. Screenshot/Print
screen that website and attach here in your worksheet.

2. List down the writing and communication skills that the organization seeks in job
candidates.

1. Confidence – a teacher should be confident when speaking and teaching

students to convey learnings.
2. Sharing feedback – a teacher should share feedback for the students to
understand and clarify their thoughts.
3. Volume and clarity – loud and clear voice are fundamental qualities that a
teacher should acquire specially in a classroom setup teaching.
4. Nonverbal cues – using gestures helps the audience and speaker
communicate on what are they trying to convey and if they are really
listening to the discussion.
 3. Discuss your findings to one of your classmates. Write a paragraph narrating and
explaining your discussion.

I have a classmate and a friend of mine whose effective listener but

sometimes struggling to convey his thoughts. He expresses his contradictory or
sympathy using gestures or body languages well so that me myself feels to
continue and share all what I think but whenever he expresses his thoughts; it
seems that he can’t find the right word or right term to used for his expression.

4. Write a paragraph explaining the importance of writing and communication skills

to be accepted in an organization that hires graduates in your major.

Communication skills are the fundamental requirements for a person whose

job is to speak, listen, educate, ask, and express. Clarity and volume of a teacher’s
voice are the key components of conveying message; if a teacher cannot speak
loudly and clearly then the students will just lose their interests and suddenly get
lousy. On the other hand, teachers should be good at writing at the same time
because commonly, the medium of communication by the teachers and their
higher-ups is through writing a formal letter.
