3.1.1 Start DRYPIX3500

1.1 Precautions before operating the instrument
Before using this instrument, please read "Precautions before operating this instrument" carefully so that you can operate it
correctly. Whenever you use this instrument, be sure to follow these precautions. Otherwise, it may cause you injury or property damage.
The users of this device are doctors, radiographers, nurses, and healthcare workers designated by the foregoing.
The system is classified as a medical device under EC Directive 93/42/EEC. The device
was designed on the premise that the patient would not have direct contact with it, or that the operator of the surgery had received formal training.
Dispose of waste properly in accordance with local laws or any relevant
regulations. When disposing of a DRYPIX3500 containing a lithium battery, be sure to contact a licensed recycler as it is not intended to be disposed
of as general waste.

1.2 Security
Before using DRYPIX3500, please read the relevant contents of this section carefully so that you can use this product correctly.
Contraindications

This printer uses AC 220V AC power supply. To avoid

electric shock, users should pay attention to the following: l
Install the printer in a place where it will not be exposed to water.
lCheck that the printer is properly grounded. l Check that all
wires and cables are fully and properly connected. lDo not operate
the printer when in contact with the patient's body.

When using 240V in the US, power must be supplied from a center-tapped 240V single-phase circuit.
If you need to disconnect or reconnect wires for other protective

equipment, please contact our official distributor.

Never remove the printer cover.
The printer contains high voltage parts that may cause electric shock.
Warnings and Precautions When Using the Printer

This printer is not explosion proof. Never use flammable or explosive gas near the printer.

If a problem not covered in "Chapter 4 Troubleshooting" occurs, turn off the printer's power switch.
NOTE
Before turning off the power
switch When the DRYPIX3500 is operating normally, first turn off the DRYPIX3500 by following the shutdown procedure described in this operation
manual, and then turn off the power switch. If the power switch is turned off before turning off the DRYPIX3500, image data may be lost, or a device
failure may occur. Our company or our official distributors are not responsible for the loss of images or other data due to the wrong shutdown of
DRYPIX3500. Also, if the DRYPIX3500's power switch is turned off after the DRYPIX3500 has been shut down incorrectly, equipment failure may
occur and parts may need to be replaced.

When transferring image data to the printer, if a forced shutdown occurs due to a power failure, the image data may be lost. The company or the

1 Instructions for safe use

Always check that the patient information is printed on the film.
ÿÿ
Do not touch the thermal print head directly. When cleaning the thermal printhead, turn off the printer, allow the thermal printhead to cool completely, and
then clean it. If you touch the thermal print head before it has cooled down completely, it may cause burns.

Be careful not to pinch your palms or fingers when closing the lid.
ÿÿ
Be careful not to pinch your fingers when inserting the magazine into the magazine loading slot.

When loading film, be careful not to get your fingers caught between the film supply library and the cover when closing the film supply library cover.

If the film cutter breaks, it should be replaced immediately. Be careful not to get cut by the sharp edge of the
rupture. The film cutter is a consumable. If cracked, please contact our official dealer for replacement.

Precautions for the use of the instrument
Condensation may occur if the room temperature suddenly rises when the device is still cold. Measures should be taken to avoid condensation, which may damage the
instrument.

1.4 Notes on handling and storage of film
Note the following when handling and storing film.
Attention when using
• Use only "Medical Dry Film" compatible with this instrument. Malfunctions may occur if other films are used. • To ensure the
good quality of the film, please install and use it quickly after opening the package. • Do not fold, rub, and use the film under
high pressure. This can easily lead to white cloudy spots on the film where it is folded. • Do not use the film in a high humidity environment to
prevent the film from sticking together. • Do not use film in environments with extremely low humidity to avoid static electricity. • Do not touch or
handle film with wet hands. • Film is limited to single use only. Avoid multiple simultaneous images. • Do not use for any purpose other than as
directed by a physician. • Do not use it at high temperature for a long time. • Do not place anywhere where high temperatures may occur, such
as direct sunlight, heating systems, or near vehicles. • Do not write directly on the film with oil pens or highlighters, and do not allow the film to
come into direct contact with related items filled in with either type of pens. because

• Do not contact the film with chemicals such as water, alcohol, developer, solvent, etc. to avoid image loss. If the above substances adhere to the film,

Notes on storage

• Please keep the film in a cool, dark place, and ask that the moisture-proof bag be left unopened. Ideal storage temperature and humidity on aluminum cladding

<Printed Film>
• Do not stack films. Keep it in a cool dark place. • Avoid direct
sunlight, radiation and harmful gases (such as formalin, hydrogen sulfide, etc.). • Keep it away from
acids, bases, plasticizers and solvents. Also be careful not to put it in an environment with a lot of water vapor. • Do not
put film in PVC folders, loose-leaf pages or bags. When in contact with the plasticizer contained in PVC, the film sticks to a
rise and fade.
• Do not store with other prints or accompanying tapes except film. Because other prints and tapes can make the film stick together and
fade.
Other prints: snapshots, diazo copy paper, sublimation prints, inkjet prints, etc. Adhesive Tape: Cellophane Tape,
Vinyl Tape • Do not place the imaging side of the film (back of the viewing side) in contact with other films. This will
cause the films to stick together.

*Plasticizer
Even if the material containing plasticizer comes into contact with the film, the quality of the film will not change immediately, however, after prolonged contact
with these materials, the plasticizer will penetrate into the film and adversely affect the image. Substances containing plasticizers are: • polyvinyl chloride •
plexiglass • nitrocellulose • polystyrene • polyvinyl butyral • polyvinyl acetate • chloroprene rubber

Environmental friendly
ÿ DRYPIX3500 uses thermal print head for printing. Therefore, no water or chemical solution is required as a fixer. Since it does not require chemical

3.1 Start and shut down DRYPIX3500
This section outlines the steps to start and shut down the DRYPIX3500. For information on starting and shutting down the connected device, please refer to the relevant device's
operating guide.
3.1.1 Start DRYPIX3500
It takes about 4 minutes* to start up the DRYPIX3500 when the power button is held down. If the DRYPIX3500 fails to start successfully, please refer to "5.2.1 The
printer fails to start when the power button is pressed". Use the following steps to start the DRYPIX3500 system. *Start-up time depends on ambient temperature.
1. Confirm that the power switch in the lower left corner is set to on.

If the power switch is not on, set the switch to the on position "I". When the
device is plugged in, the power indicator will turn on (green).
Press the power button.

Press the power button to start the DRYPIX3500 system.
When the "888" unit starts up, the display panel will show g"IL0 to IL7 (IL0 to
IL7)"g"ooo" (flashing). If the unit is operating normally, the number of sheets of
film remaining in slot 1 (top) will be displayed on the display panel. ÿÿÿÿ
– If the siren sounds during the start-up process –
When the system fails during the start-up process, the alarm sound and error
message will be displayed on the display panel. The startup of the DRYPIX3500
will be interrupted. Refer to "5.4 Error Messages Appear on the Display Panel" for
related solutions. When the fault is resolved, the system resumes operation.

3.1.2 Turn off DRYPIX3500
Before shutting down the DRYPIX3500, check that printing and other related procedures have stopped working. Use the following steps to shut down the DRYPIX3500 system.
1. Check the dashboard.
Check the number of film sheets remaining in slot 1 (top) displayed on the display panel.
Close utility programs or other operations if they are still

running.
2. Press and hold the power button for a few seconds.
The unit is ready to shut down and the display panel will show "End".

Never turn off the power switch when "End" is displayed on the display
panel. Otherwise, it may cause equipment failure.

When shutting down, to restart the system, please restart it after 10 seconds.

3.1.3 From printing to loading film
The steps from printing to loading film are as follows.

Load film
When the film runs out, a "0" will appear on the display panel. (Printing while "0" is
displayed, "EP1" or "EP2" is displayed, and the siren sounds.) Load film in the supply
library with "0" sheets remaining.

Counter reset
The number of remaining films is reset to "100".
DRYPIX3500 returns to printable state.

3.2 Printing images
This section explains how to print images on the DRYPIX3500 and points out important points to note when printing.
3.2.1 Printing images
Since the printed film is transferred to the DRYPIX3500 by other equipment, printing control is not required on the DRYPIX3500. For information on printing
from a connected device, refer to the related device's operating guide.
1. Transfer printing information from connected devices.
When the DRYPIX3500 is in sleep mode, it will start automatically if a print
command is received. Boot time from sleep mode is approximately 3

minutes*.
* Start-up time depends on ambient temperature.
2. Check the dashboard.
"Pro" will appear on the display panel.
3. As the film is printed, the number of film sheets remaining will be updated and
displayed on the display panel.
The printed film will be output to the output film tray. The output
film tray can hold up to 20 films. Remove these films when the
output film tray is full.
If you are printing on 35 × 43 cm film, pull out the output film tray before
printing. If you print without pulling out the output film tray, the film will fall
out of the tray, or back up and cause the film to jam.
For details on the output film tray, refer to "2.3 Part Names and
Functions".
4. Confirm that printing is complete.
When all printing is complete, the number of sheets of film remaining in slot 1 (top) will be

3.2.2 Precautions when printing film
This section explains some important points to note when printing film on the DRYPIX3500.

Do not delete images on devices such as image readers, CT and MRI scanners until you have confirmed that the images have been
successfully printed. If the DRYPIX3500 is turned off while receiving images, images may not be printed. The company or the company's
official distributors are not responsible for the loss of images or other data.

Do not turn off the DRYPIX3500 when there are still unprinted films in the supply library. If
the power switch is turned off at this time, images may not be printed. The company or the

After the DRYPIX3500 is powered on, do not pull out the supply library when "Pro" is displayed on the display panel. Otherwise, DRYPIX3500 may be damaged.
Note
Do not pull out the film during printing.
Forcibly removing the film can cause smudges on the film surface, resulting in damage to the film.
NOTE
Do not open the cover of the printer while printing film. If the lid is
opened during printing, the DRYPIX3500 will close to avoid damage. An audible alarm will sound on
the display panel along with an associated indication that the lid is opened.
Display information words:
When
explaining the printed film, use only the fluorescent tubes listed below in the light box.
• Normal Model, Daylight Color* Please avoid tri-color fluorescent tubes, otherwise
the image may appear reddish.
NOTE
White streaks may appear on the back of the printed film. This
is due to the film contacting the thermal print head during printing, not a malfunction of the device.
NOTE
If you need to reproduce images printed on film with the DRYPIX3500, be sure to use MI-DUP film. Subtractive
light sources are suitable light sources.

3.3 Loading film

When the supply library is completely empty, load new film. This section describes the timing and procedure when loading film.
3.3.1 Timing and steps when loading film
When the film runs out, a "0" will appear on the display panel, but the siren will not sound. (Printing again when "0" is displayed, "EP1" or "EP2" is displayed, and the alarm
sounds.) At this time, load the film according to the following procedure.
When
"0" is displayed on the comment panel, replenish the film.
1. Turn off the siren.
A "0" will appear on the display panel. (Printing when "0" is displayed, "EP1"
or "EP2" is displayed, and the siren sounds. The siren does not stop even if
the stock is pulled out. After refilling the film, insert the stock and the siren
stops. .
2. Check the message on the display panel and load the film.
After replenishment, when inserting the supply library, "Pro" will be displayed, and the output of
clean film will start. When completed, the number of remaining films shown on the display panel
will change to "100".
If it is confirmed that the film has run out and "0" is not displayed on the film
monitor, load new film and reset the remaining film counter. For details, refer
to "4.8 Automatic Grayscale Correction and Reset Film Counter to 100".

• When a new film bag is inserted, a cleaning film will be output. Do not print as this may cause problems. •
Automatic grayscale correction is available when inserting a new film pouch. (For settings, please contact our official dealer.) Please note
that if you turn the automatic grayscale correction to ON, you must wait a few minutes to 15 minutes.
There are two ways to load film.
• Load film while inserting into the library. For details,
please refer to "3.3.3 Inserting the film supply library and loading film".
• Remove the supply library from the DRYPIX3500 and load the film. For details, please refer
to "3.3.4 Take out the film supply library and load the film".

3.3.2 About the film supply library
There are two ways to open the supply library cover.
(1) Open half of the film supply library cover
Grasp and lift the tab ÿ to open only half of the magazine cover. Open the library cover, load film, and insert the library into the system.

(2) Remove the entire film supply library cover
Grasp and lift the tabs ÿ and ÿ together to remove the entire magazine cover. Use this method to open the library cover when removing the library from the
DRYPIX3500 for loading film.

When loading film into the supply library, confirm the film size specified by the supply library, and then load the film in the correct orientation.
Note •
Incorrectly loading film can cause film feeding problems and/or equipment failure.
• If the film size you set does not match the size specified on the supply library, printing errors may occur.

the magazine's locking pin.

3.3.3 Insert the film supply library and load the film
1. Pull the supply library out.
Remove the magazine slowly and horizontally until the edge of the green line is
visible. The stock is locked, and film can then be loaded in this position of the stock.

sure to load film when the library is locked. Do not pull out the supply library to see the entire green line, or
the supply library may fall. Also, if you lift up slightly when pulling out the magazine, it will not stop at the
green line. Be careful to pull out the magazine slowly and level.
2. Press and hold the pull tab ÿ to open the magazine cover.
Remove the empty film cassette.
For details on the film supply library cover, please refer to "3.3.2 About the film
supply library".

3. Peel off the adhesive strip along the perforation and remove the aluminum film pack containing the film.
The mark indicates the upper part of the aluminum cladding. Place the marked side up.

4. Open the top of the aluminum pack, then use a film cutter to open the film pack.
The film cutter is a consumable. When the film cutter cannot cut the film or is damaged,
please contact our official dealer.

6. Place the film cassette in the supply library.
Insert the film cassette straight into the supply magazine, holding the border strip to the
outside of the film cassette.
At this time, check that the film is inserted in the correct direction.
7. Close the supply magazine cover tightly.
8. Load the supply library into the DRYPIX3500.
Slowly push the supply magazine in as far as it will go.
The first cleaning film is output within a few minutes when the library is properly loaded.
The number of sheets of film in the supply library will be displayed on the display panel,
then reset and continue printing.
NOTE
If an error message is displayed on the display panel when installing the library,
please refer to the related error message to troubleshoot.
For details on error messages, refer to "5.4 Error Codes Appearing on the
Display Panel".
NOTE
Make sure your hands and fingers are not injured when the library is loaded into the
DRYPIX3500.

Care should be taken when inserting the supply library. Forced insertion of the library will cause the rear panel to open and the library will not be properly recognized. (When this
happens, slowly remove the magazine and insert it again after closing the rear panel door.)

3.3.4 Take out the film supply library and load the film
1. Remove the film supply library.
Slowly remove the supply library until the supply library stops, at which point you will see a
line for opening and closing the supply library cover. Then lift the supply magazine slightly
and continue to remove it completely.
NOTE Do
not pull out the library when "Pro" is displayed on the display board. Otherwise, the device may be damaged.
2. Press and hold the tabs ÿ and ÿ to open the library cover.
Remove the empty film cassette.

4.3 Startup and Shutdown Utilities
This section describes the procedure for displaying the Utilities menu on the Dashboard and returning to the normal operation display from the Utilities menu.
4.3.1 Launching the utility

Use the steps below to launch the utility.

4.4 Automatic Grayscale Correction (U-1)
Auto Grayscale Correction is a function that corrects the grayscale for printing films set using gradation curves. This section
describes the procedure for automatic grayscale correction.

2. When "U-3" is displayed, each time the setting button is pressed, two digits will be displayed, and the
value of the blinking digits can be changed. The display order of digits is year g month g day
g hour g minute.

4.7 Outputting Cleaning Film (U-7)
If black or white vertical streaks appear on the print film, you can usually troubleshoot the problem by cleaning the thermal printhead. For details on cleaning the thermal print head,
see "6.3 Cleaning the Thermal Print Head". If cleaning the thermal printhead does not eliminate streaks, a cleaning film should be output. Output cleaning film, which may clear the
problem by removing dust from the thermal print head. This section describes the procedure for outputting cleaning film. Startup utility, please refer to "4.3.1 Startup Utility" for details.
NOTE
Check the loaded film size before outputting the cleaning film. Choose the widest film out of them, and then output. This removes dust from thermal printheads extensively.

35 x 43 cm film is the maximum size, but when outputting cleaning film, 26 x 36 cm film is the most suitable because it is the widest. The order of film width from largest to
smallest is as follows:

This menu is only used when the display panel does not show "0" or "EP1"/"EP2" when a new pouch is inserted into the supply library.
Using this menu, automatic grayscale correction is performed, and the film counter is reset to 100.

This menu is used to clear the film counter when there is no film in the supply library, but the display panel does not show "0".

5.2 The printer cannot be turned on or off
This section describes solutions for DRYPIX3500 not starting up or shutting down when the power button is pressed. If the following measures still do not solve the problem, please
contact our official distributor.
5.2.1 The printer fails to start when the power button is pressed
If the DRYPIX3500 does not start up by pressing the power button, do the following.
Is the power turned off?

(green).
Is the power cord disconnected?
When the device is plugged in, the power indicator will turn on (green).
5.2.2 The printer does not turn off when the power button is pressed
If pressing the power button fails to turn off the DRYPIX3500, do the following.
Is the printer printing images? FWait for printing to end, and then press the power button again to turn off the printer.
Is the printer starting up?
Is the printer running in utility mode?

5.2.3 The siren sounds and the text on the display board flashes
When the siren sounds and the display panel text flashes (green), take the following actions.
Check the display panel for an error code. • If an error code is displayed, refer to "5.4.1 Reading Error Codes" and take action.
• If no error code is displayed, please contact our official dealer.

Press the control button (any button) on the side of the display panel once to stop the siren.

5.3 Film Jam

If the film jams, "205" to "208" or "211" to "217" flashes on the display panel and the alarm sounds. In this case, follow the steps below to remove the jammed
film.
When using an extra feeder, also perform steps 1 to 3 for the extra feeder.
1. Remove the film supply library.
Slowly remove the magazine until the magazine locks and a bar is visible for opening and
closing the magazine. Then lift it up slightly and continue to remove it completely.
Pull the jammed film out of the magazine loading slot.

3. If the film was removed, reload the library as is, making sure the
flashing light on the display panel is off. ÿÿÿ
Slowly insert the supply bank all the way.
A note
about loading a library
DRYPIX3500.
The film may still be jammed when the flashing light on the display panel does not go out.

Open the top unit.

If the film has been completely removed, skip to step 8.
4. When the film is not jammed, pull out the magazine.
Pull it out slowly until it stops at the border of the magazine cover. slightly upward
Once lifted, you can continue to pull it forward.

5. When using the extra film feeder, open the back cover. When the film is jammed,
remove it slowly. If the film has been completely removed, skip to step 8.
6. If the film is not jammed, remove the fixed handle (ÿ) next to the top unit,
remove the handle cover on the right side of the main unit (ÿ), and insert the handle.
7. Turning clockwise while pressing the handle will eject the film from the magazine
inlet, and turning it counterclockwise while pressing the handle will eject the film
from the back cover, then slowly remove the film.
ÿÿ
Turn off the power or fully open the top cover when operating the jam release
handle. If the top cover is closed during operation, the handle will start to turn and
may injure your hands.

8. After removing the film, reverse the order from step 1 to return the printer to its original
display board
state. Make sure the blinking light on the display board is off.
Slowly insert the supply bank all the way.
The film may still be jammed when the flashing light on the display panel does not go out.
Repeat steps 1 to 8.
NOTE
Do not injure your hands or fingers when closing the top unit and top cover.
Precautions when inserting the supply library
When the supply library is loaded into the DRYPIX3500, make sure that your hands
and fingers are not injured.
* If the above steps do not clear the jammed film, please contact our official dealer.

5.4 Error codes appear on the display panel
This section explains the meaning of the error codes that appear on the DRYPIX3500 display panel. If you cannot solve the problem, please contact our official distributor.
5.4.1 Reading error codes
The following examples illustrate error codes and how to interpret them.
The following types of error codes are displayed when a user-resolvable failure occurs.
If an error message/error code is displayed, please refer to "5.4.2 Error Code List".

6.1 Perform daily inspections
In order to use DRYPIX3500 effectively, daily and periodic inspections are required. When performing the inspection, be sure to handle the printer correctly and observe the warnings and
precautions described in "Chapter 1 Safety Instructions". Refer to the steps below for daily and periodic inspections.

6.2 Cleaning the cleaning roller
This section describes cleaning and maintenance procedures for the DRYPIX3500 to maintain optimum print quality.
If white spots or scratches appear on the printed image, follow the steps below to clean the cleaning roller.

• If the cleaning roller is put back into the printer and printed before it is completely dry, it may cause problems such as streaks and incorrect print density. • Handle the cleaning roller
carefully to prevent it from deforming or falling on the floor. • When closing the top cover, be careful not to injure your hands or fingers.
1. Before shutting down the DRYPIX3500, make sure it has finished processing all
print jobs.

4. Remove the cleaning roller.
Hold the cleaning roller with one hand, push the cleaning roller holder with the other hand in the
direction of the arrow, then lift the cleaning roller up and take it out.

5. Clean the cleaning roller.
Notes
Scrub stains on the surface of the cleaning roller may damage the surface of the cleaning roller.
If white spots remain on the image after cleaning, replace the cleaning
roll. Please contact our official distributor.
The cleaning roller should be replaced every 3 years.
6. To remove water beads from the cleaning roller, use an alcohol soaked (dehydrating
ethanol) to clean the cleaning roller. (let it dry

Notes
Make sure the cleaning roller is completely dry. Any moisture can cause

7. After confirming that the cleaning roller is completely dry, install it in its original position

6.3 Cleaning the thermal print head
Clean the thermal print head if any of the following conditions

image • When printing 3,000 sheets, or 2 weeks since the last cleaning
Watch out - hot!
Before cleaning the thermal print head, power off the DRYPIX3500 and wait for the thermal print head to cool completely. Unless the thermal printhead
is completely cool, you may get burned while cleaning the thermal printhead.

3. Clean it with a lint-free cloth soaked in anhydrous alcohol to remove dust and foreign matter
