This method statement covers the detailed procedure to be followed for Installation
of curtain wall and Glass Doors (location as per approved shop drawings).

5.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Contractor:

 Project Manager is responsible for overall project execution, quality and safety. Adopt a leading role with respect to Contractor’s quality
and safety procedures. The PM is responsible for the overall implementation of this method statement. The Project Manager shall
ensure that the key personnel are well aware of the specifications and method statement.

 CM / Project Engineer shall arrange all materials, equipment, safety related items & manpower & direct the Site Engineers & Foremen to
resort appropriate action for the smooth execution of the works.

 Safety Engineer shall be responsible for safe working environment & conditions. Coordinate with Site Engineer to identify potential
hazards before works and advised methods of safe working from new developments.

 Surveyor shall be responsible for setting out for levels, layout, and lines & establish top levels. Ensuring setting out books are properly
maintained and filed when completed. To coordinate with the CONSULTANT surveyor in determining coordinates, levels, and limits.

 QA/QC Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring that execution of works are complying with approved method statement;
specifications, approved shop drawings and ensure ITR are submitted based on ITP requirements.

 Site Engineer shall ensure that all works are carried out according to approved shop drawings. He shall direct the surveyor for the
setting out lines & levels in concurrence from the Construction Manager/Senior Civil Engineer.

 MEP Coordinator / Engineer shall be responsible for proper execution of MEP works involved before, during and after the works.
Sub-Contractor:

 Project Manger is responsible for overall execution of the projects in close


coordination with main contractor/consultant/client. He will attend weekly meeting
project progress meeting.
 Project Engineer shall arrange all materials, equipment, safety related items &
manpower & direct the Site Engineers & Foremen to resort appropriate action for
the smooth execution of the works.
 Site Engineer shall ensure that all works are carried out according to approved
shop drawings.
 Site Foreman shall ensure and supervise all the works according to the
instruction from site Engineer.
6.0 MATERIALS

 Approved Materials for glazed curtain wall, aluminum doors & windows (including
accessories) as per the approved material submittals as mentioned above in item
3.0.

The capacity / size of the above tools and equipment shall be judged in accordance
with site conditions, requirements, and availability at the time of execution
8.0 SAFETY & HEALTH
 All the equipments, tools and tackles being used for the work should be in good working condition and maintained.

 All the personnel will be provided with toolbox talk on the procedures to execute the work safely.

 All employees shall attend Safety Induction and training Course to identify all Hazards associated with this work.

 The safety office of the site will be responsible for carrying risk assessment and record updated and can be inspected at site office.

 All workers / field staff shall be provided with PPE such as coverall, helmet, safety shoes, safety goggles, safety harness … etc.

Storage and Special Protection:

 All the material has to be properly stacked near to the site.

 Proper signage has to be installed near to the storage area

 MSDS shall be attached with the chemicals in the store.

 Silicone should be stored away from direct sun light.

9.0 PROCEDURE
9.1 General:
 Ensure that Material submittal and subcontractor / supplier are approved by the CONSULTANT.

 Ensure that shop drawings are complete and method of fixation, details of aluminium units submitted is approved by the consultant.

 Mock up for doors & windows & curtain wall have to be made prior to start final installation. Any comments given by the consultant on
the mock up shall be rectified until it is approved. Ensure mock up has been inspected and approved by the consultant through ITR
before proceeding to the final installation.

 All frame profiles will be painted in bar length to the approved RAL finish. Coating quality inspection shall be carried out in accordance
with approved colour sample & standards.

 Approved profiles will be forwarded to designated area to put protective tape on every profile.

 Contractor must take all opening measurement from the site (as per site condition) before starting & shall submit the opening schedule
for Consultant review & approval.

 All the samples of accessories shall be submitted as per specs for approval and review.

 If required Structural calculation shall be submitted for consultant review and approval.

 Verify the sizes of the profiles in the shop drawings if they are the same as per the material submittals approved by the consultant.

 Ensure that before preparing the cutting list, site verification is done e.g. elevation of FFL, Structural opening doors and windows to
avoid waste of materials.

 Installation should be done as per the manufacturer recommendations and as per the approved mock up.

 Check for other openings if there is need for chipping.

9.2 Installation:
Glass Descriptions:
1) Insulating Glass Unit: 6mm sun guard HP neutral 50(#2) + 12mm air space + 6mm clear tempered glass
2) Insulating Skylight Glass Unit: 6mm clear tempered glass + 12mm air space + 4mm clear glass + 1.14mm translucent PVB + 4mm clear
glass)
3) 10mm thick tempered glass
4) 12mm thick tempered glass
5) 12.52 thick laminated glass

 Aluminum brackets are fixed to the mullion by approved bolts and nuts.

 Anchor the mullion brackets at the slab in its positions using the approved anchor bolts.

 Adjust the mullion alignment and tight the bolts that gathers the mullion to the brackets.

 Fix the transom to the connections block in its position and screw it and apply the silicone.

 Fix the PVC thermal isolator in its place for both brackets and mullion and also between brackets and slab face.

 Fix the rock wool and aluminum sheet as per the approved mock up.

 For the fixation of hinged window, if any cutting shall be exact as hinge window template.

 Apply the glass carrier and the setting block on the transom where the glass should be placed.

 Apply the internal approved gasket in its place

 Place the glass in its place.

 Gradually and evenly back out all adjustment screws with open wrench. Be careful to not cause frame distortion due to excessive
adjustment.

 Apply the external gasket with the pressure plate by using screws.

 If the mullion is at the end of the module where it is beside the concrete :

 Apply the Rock wool between the mullion and the concrete.

 Apply the Butyl waterproofing membrane at the end of the Rock wool and screw it at the both ends (on the mullion and the concrete).

 Apply the flashing.

 Apply the weatherproofing sealant and the backer rod.

 Apply the cover cap.

 Install the floor spring and patches for the glass doors

 After applying pressure plates and cover caps, for additional protection finish gaps by applying a continuous bead of silicon.

 Remove coverings and clean glass units using mild glass cleaner.

 Testing will be carried out as per the project specification.

 After installation of the curtain wall frameless doors will be installed in between the mullions by fixing the floor springs in the bottom and
pivots on the top.

 For frameless curtain walls initially ss U channels will be screwed to the wall.

 The glass will be inserted to the U channel with gaskets packing and silicone

 The glass will be joined with silicone and in between the frameless door will be fixed with approved accessories.

Note: Expansion Joints:


The provision of expansion joint shall be facilitated the upper shoe bracket, at each floor level.
Mullions are adjusted to give the designed expansion joint dimension.
All the fixation should be fully comply with the details &approved shop drawings ie: number of screws hinges etc.
