Exploration:
1. Answer the WH questions what, where and how, to give personal information. After

that, design your own ID card in your English notebook.

Example:

1. Read the following E-mail using the reading strategy “Friendly Words”. Write a list of

words similar in your language to infer: What is the text about?

Personal information questions are the basis for any conversation in English and so are

important for when you meet somebody for the first time.

WH QUESTIONS

Questions words are terms specifically used to collect information about a topic, person, or

any situation.

To Yes / No there are only two possible responses: yes or no.

Reading strategy:

Friendly words: Before you read a text, look at the text and write a list of words that look similar
in your language, then use these words to help you to understand the text. Usually these words
are “friends” because they have the same meaning in your language. These words will help

Students use their answers from exploration and
application activity to record their video or their
voice with 10 questions and their answers about their
personal information.
Students deliver the guide under the established time
according to the teacher’s instructions.

What can I do if I don’t understand?

1. Identify the friendly words. (Words in English that look similar to Spanish)

2. Highlight the unknown words. (New words in English)

3. Use the dictionary to understand the unknown words and write these new words in
your English notebooks.

4. Ask one of your family members for help to understand the information in the
workshop.

5. Contact your English teacher. Each school has established how.
