USE IDIOMS TO TALK ABOUT FEELINGS
● To be in the mood to do/for doing = to feel like doing something
● To have mood swings = your mood changes a lot (negative)
● To be in low spirits = to be sad
● To feel down in the dumps = to feel sad
● I am feeling under the weather = feeling sick, feeling off colour
● To be on an emotional roller coaster = to be experiencing lots of different
emotions (negatives)
● To be on a high = to be happy
● I feel out of sorts = I don’t feel myself = don’t fee; comfortable or happy
● I am tickled pink = to be very happy

DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN FACTS AND OPINION
OPINIONS

❏ An opinion is a statement that cannot be proved or checked


❏ It tells what someone thinks, feels, or believes
❏ Clue words for opinion statements are:

★ think, feel, believe, seem


★ always, never, all, none, most,
least, best, greatest, worst
FACTS

❏ Facts are statements that can be checked or proved.


❏ We can check facts by conducting some sort of experiment,
observation, or by verifying (checking) the fact with a source
document.
❏ Facts often contain numbers, dates, or ages.
❏ Facts might include specific information about a person, place
or thing.

❏ To recognise a FACT:
