ICONS

1. The •When I delete a file or folder, it doesn't actually get deleted right away it goes
Recycle to the Recycle Bin. That's a good thing, because if there is a chance that I ever
Bin change my mind and decide that I need a deleted file, I can easily can get it
back.

2. My •My Computer allows me as a user to access the local drives of my laptops,


Computer such as the local disk, also known as the C: Drive. And as the user also I can
easily access external drives. Examples of an external drive are a floppy disk
drive (A: Drive) and the CD Drive (D:). My computer also lets the user access
My Documents and other files. Whenever any external drive is attached to the
computer, the I can directly access that drive from My Computer menu.
Because "My Computer" gives me an overview about different types of drives
present in the computer. And this is also a folder that is a gateway to all the
data stored on the computer, attached devices, and the network as well as a
shortcut to most of my system information.

3. VCL •It is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework
that I usually used to plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs,
VCDs, and various streaming protocols. VLC is a free and open source cross-
platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files,
and various streaming protocols

4. Google •I always used this as a form of a web browser on my mobile devices


Chrome computer. And as we know that it also available for both iOS and Android, and
this Chrome app allows me to browse the web, open multiple tabs, conduct
searches, and many more.

5. Adobe It is a kind of Creative Cloud that is a set of applications and services from
Adobe Inc. Wherein it gives to me as a subscribers access to a collection of
software used for my graphic design, video editing, web development,
photography, along with a set of mobile applications and also some optional
cloud services.

ABSTRACTION

DESKTOP ICONS USES

1. Mozilla Firefox •It is also a free and open-source web browser developed by the Mozilla
Foundation just like Google Chrome but different developer and I used
this Firefox to Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which
implements current and anticipated web standards.

2. Microsoft •I used this for graphical word processing program that I can easily
Word type with. And it is made by the computer company Microsoft with a
purpose to allow me as a users to type and save documents. Similar to
other word processors, it has helpful tools to make documents.

3. Microsoft Excel •I used this software program created by Microsoft for creating
spreadsheets to organize numbers and data with formulas and and also
functions. Amd tjis Excel analysis is ubiquitous around the world and
used by businesses of all sizes to perform financial analysis, but for me I
occasionally used this when I make a demographic data for the activities
in some of our subject during Senior High up to now.

4. Avast •I used this to protect my laptop against viruses & other types of
malware with Avast Comouter Security, wherein I know that it is the
world's most trusted free antivirus app for Android and also Computer.

5. Skype • I used this software for me to enables the world's conversations. And
as I conducted a deep research, millions of individuals and businesses
use Skype to make free video and voice one-to-one and group calls,
send instant messages and share files with other people on Skype.
That's why I can use Skype on whatever works best for me whether in
my computer or even in tablet.

APPLICATION

•As we know that if your laptop is Windows it uses icons to graphically represent items, such
as programs and folders. This is part of Windows GUI, or graphical user interface. Icons
appear everywhere throughout Windows, and are really just pictures that depict the type of
items they represent. The Windows desktop contains a range of desktop icons. Many of
these icons are known as shortcuts or links to frequently-used programs, folders and files.
You can save quite a bit of time and reduce the number of mouse clicks in a day by creating
desktop shortcuts for frequently-used programs. Shortcuts to programs, files and folders can
be added easily to the desktop, as well as arranged, moved and removed. You should also
clean up your desktop from time to time when it becomes too cluttered. And the icons also
to the left represent shortcuts to various programs.

POST-ASSESSMENT

1. The taskbar sits at the bottom of your screen.

2. Taskbar contains the Star button, which you can use to access programs, folders, and
compute settings.

3. The desktop is sometimes defined more broadly to include the taskbar and Windows
sidebar.

4. Icons that sho a folder represent a folder or shortcut to a folder.

5. When you double-click on a folder icon, the Windows Explorer window will open and you
will see the contents of that folder.

6. The desktop icon for the Recycle Bin is shown as a waste paper basket with the recycle
symbol on it.

7. Icons that show a hard disk will display the contents of that drive in Windows Explorer
whe you double-click on it.

8. Sidebar contains small programs called gadgets.

9. When you double-click on a folder icon, the Windows Explorer window will open and you
will see the contents of that folder.

10. Double-clicking a waste paper basket icon will open the Recycle Bin window, allowing
you to permanently delete or restore files as necessary.
