A RESEARCH PROPOSAL PRESENTED TO

THE FACULTY OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

CORDILLERA CAREER DEVELOPMENT COLLEGE

IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS

FOR THE COURSE
QN RES 12 (PRACTICAL RESEARCH IN DAILY LIFE 2)

DECEMBER 2022
DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY
This section presents the research design,

data gathering procedures, locale and

population of the study, data gathering tool,

and treatment of data.

Research Design

In this study, descriptive method design

will be utilized using survey questionnaires to

attain better insights from the respondents.

Survey questionnaires were used to evoke the

opinions of Grade 12 STEM students in

Cordillera Career Development College.

According to Kennisgeving (2021)

descriptive research design is a method of

study which involves conducting survey research

using quantitative variables on a market

research tool or social research tool.

Data Gathering Procedures

In conducting the study, approval from the

Senior high coordinator as well as the research

teacher was sought by letters. The researchers

will collaborate with Grade 12 STEM advisers in

gathering data for their students.

The questionnaires were distributed and

gathered through check sheets or multiple

responses given to the respondents to answer

and complete the requirement. The researchers

will personally distribute the questionnaires

and will explain to the respondents thoroughly

its contents and the steps on how to answer the

questionnaires to assure that the respondents

will not skip other questions. The researchers

will collect the questionnaires answered by the

respondents.The researchers will also express

their gratitude to the respondents that

participated in answering the questionnaire.

Locale and Population of the Study

The target population of the study will

involve the Senior High School department in

Cordillera Career Development College,

specifically, Grade 12 STEM students.

Stratified sampling technique was used to

identify the respondents.

Table 1 presents the respondents grouped

according to the section of Stem strand.

table 1. Population of the study

Strand and Number of Percentage

Section respondents (%)
STEM 12-A 31 34%
STEM 12-B 32 35%
STEM 12-C 29 31%
Total 92 100%

Data Gathering Tool

The researchers used a survey

questionnaire as a tool in gathering data. The

questionnaires contains the following: Part Ⅰ

shows the respondents' personal information

sheet; Part ⅠⅠ is about the effectiveness of

wearing a proper and complete uniform on the

aspects of discipline; and Part ⅠⅠⅠ contains

the extent of factors affecting students in

wearing complete and proper uniform towards

academic performance.

Treatment of Data

Data collected from the respondents were

statistically analyzed using frequency count,

percentages, weighted mean, and t-test.

The succeeding scales will be used to

assess the level of effectiveness in terms of

students’ discipline in compliance to uniform.

Numerical Statistical Descriptive

Values Limits Equivalent
4 3.25-4.0 Highly
effective
3 2.50-3.24 Moderately
effective
2 1.75-2.49 Slightly
effective
1 1.00-1.74 Not effective

To determine the extent of factors

affecting students in wearing complete and

proper uniform towards academic performance,

the following scales were used.

Numerical Statistical Descriptive

Values Limits Equivalent
4 3.25-4.0 Highly
observed
3 2.50-3.24 Moderately
observed
2 1.75-2.49 Slightly
observed
1 1.00-1.74 Not observed

The weighted mean was used to fulfill

objectives 1,2 and 3. The formula is (calmorin

& calmorin, 2007)

WM= Σfx/n
Where:

Σ= Summation

N = number of respondents

F = frequency

X = weight of each score

The T-test was used to determine the 3

significant relationships between level of

effectiveness, discipline and attitude, and the

extent of factors affecting the students’

behavior . The formula is as follows (Garcia,

2004):

Where:

X= average/mean

SD2 = variance

N = number of items

1, 2, and 3 = group of males and group of femal

Ma'am:

The researchers are currently conducting a study

entitled "Effectiveness of Wearing Proper School
Uniform to the Academic Performance of Senior High
School Students" for the calendar year 2022 for the
completion of our requirements in the course QN RES 12
(Practical Research Daily Life 2).

In this regard, may we be given favor from your good

office to allow us to administer questionnaires to the
Grade 12 STEM students.

Rest assured that all answers given will be treated

with utmost confidentiality and will be used solely
for this research. Looking forward to your favorable
response and consideration for this research.

Thank you very much and God bless.

Respectfully,
