Rules & Regulations

1. Zonal Competitions : 04th to 24th November 2022

Final Competitions : December 2022

2. The following events will be worked out


Boys / Girls Under 11 Singles Born on or after 01.01.2012
Boys / Girls Under 13 Singles / Doubles Born on or after 01.01.2010
Boys / Girls Under 15 Singles / Doubles Born on or after 01.01.2008
Boys / Girls Under 17 Singles / Doubles Born on or after 01.01.2006
Boys / Girls Under 19 Singles / Doubles Born on or after 01.01.2004

3. Competitors could take part in one age group. However, those who are play in Under 11 Singles
will be permitted to play in the Under 13 Doubles event. There will be an open Mixed Doubles
event too. But only eight pairs will be selected to complete in this event. Preference will be
given to those who perform well in the Under 17 & 19 events. Entries for the Mixed Doubles
will be accepted from those whom qualify during the final rounds. (Notice will be given)

4. The entry fees are as follows


Singles : Rs. 750.00 (Per Player)
Doubles : Rs. 1000.00 (Per Pair)
Registration Fee : Rs. 250.00 (Per Player)

5. Seeded players will be exempted from the Zonal competitions. However, the players who
have been seeded for the Singles not for Doubles may have to play the Doubles event at the
Zonal competition. Seeding will be done according to the results of the last National Junior
Championship Tournament held.

6. Competitors shall be allowed to play only with the Doubles partners nominated by them in the
entry form.
Partners name should necessarily be indicated on the entry form.

7. A competitor will be allowed to substitute a partner if his / her original nominated partner is
prevented from playing through illness, injury or other unavoidable hindrance. Such proposed
substitute shall be notified to the Tournament Referee or an appointed official in writing before
the commencement of that particular event.
Such substitution should not be of a higher rank that the original nominated players and
the new combination should be of a lower standard than the original combination.

8. Girls & Boys entries must be on different entry forms. (This applies to Mixed Doubles too)

9. The Final rounds of Under 11 & 13 events will be worked out with Nylon shuttles and Under
15, 17 & 19 events will be worked out with Feather shuttles.
Nylon shuttles will be used for Zonal rounds in all age groups.
10. Participants should be prepared to produce their original Birth Certificate and photograph
certified by the Principal during the Zonal rounds and Final rounds.

11. Winners, Runners-up and Second Runners-up will receive Certificates, Medals etc.

12. The overall championship shield will be awarded to the school which gets highest number of
points scored according to the performances of the Final rounds. Mixed Doubles event will not
be considered. (Overall championship points system will be circulated along with the Final
round draw).

13. This Tournament will run on knock out basis and all matches will be held according to the rules
and regulations of BWF and adapted by the SLBA and SLSBA.

14. If a player conceded a walk-over in any event due to injury / illness or absence, he / she will not
be allowed to participate in the other events of the Tournament on the same day. Any exceptional
circumstance will be referred to the Referee or appointed official for the decision.

15. Players are subject to a minimum of 20 minutes rest period between any two matches.

16. The decision of the umpire on all matters connected with the actual play in the match of which
he / she is umpiring shall be final.

17. Players must be punctual and any player who does not turn up for his / her match at the time
allocated will be liable to have a walk-over given against him / her. Ten minutes graced period
will be allowed. No postponements shall be allowed under any circumstances.

18. The participants will be required to keep lines and umpire matches when called upon to do so
by the Tournament committee / appointed officials.

19. All disputes with regard to the championships shall be referred to the Referee and SLSBA
Tournament committee. The decision or the Referee and SLSBA Tournament committee on all
matters connected with the Tournament and any matter not provided for shall be final and
binding on all participants.

20. Entries will be closed on Monday 24th of October 2022 with Mrs. Malika Waduge, General
Secretary, Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association, Southlands College, Galle. Entries should
be sent by ‘Registered Post’.
From this year, the entry fees of all competitors should be credited to the account of the
SRI LANKA SCHOOLS BADMINTON ASSOCIATION and a photocopy of the receipt
should be sent along with the entry form. (236-1001-83478317 - Peoples’ Bank Maradana)
Also, a clear copy of the number of Children entered, the number of Singles, Doubles pairs
and including the way of money calculation should be sent along with it.
Applications will not be accepted by the Zonal Organizer.
