VIII. Rationale of the project

In the past decades, it is noticeable that the river which divides the two Barangays
of Gimalas and Langgangan is continuously destructing and it’s polluted. The waterway
and riverbank have a lot of trash due to improper waste disposal. Because of it, the risk of
flood might affect the residences in low places area of the barangay.

community service activities aims:

1. To improve health of local waterway
1.1 To initiate the sustainable waste system to the community
1.2 To prevent huge floods
1.3 To prevent water pollution
1.4 To lessen the trashes in waterway and riverbank
1.5 To improve the sanitation of the community by cleaning up the
river
2. To raise environmental awareness and self-responsibility among
students and the community
2.1 To educate students and the community in waste management
2.2 To support student and the community by collaborating in
activities that provide compassionate care to the environment
2.3 To form new friendship with like-minded people

X. Description of the project

The proposed river cleanup won’t get far without a group of dedicated volunteers.
While there are likely many people in the community who would be happy to contribute
to this kind of community service. The collaboration with schools, Barangays,
Municipality and other partner agencies and businesses helps in the implementation of
the proposed project. Local community individuals and groups such as neighborhood
associations, youth groups, the Sangguniang Barangay, Sangguniang kabataan, Barangay
health Workers (for medical care), students, out of school youth, parents etc. may wish to
get involved. We can also ask for local VIP’s such as the Mayor of the municipality,
MENRO, local business leaders etc. to participate in the cleanup and encourage others to
do the same.
The requirements for the project proposal are letter of request such as Barangay
authorization, Municipal Authorization, Letter for the collaborating business etc.
