Introductory Message
For the facilitator:

Welcome to the Practical Research 2 – Grade 12 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM)

Module on Designing a Research Useful in Daily Life; Writes a Research Title
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators
both from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in
helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while
overcoming their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration
their needs and circumstances.

In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of
the module:

Notes to the Teacher

This contains helpful tips or strategies
that will help you in guiding the learners.

As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module.
You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist
the learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
For the learner:

Welcome to the Practical Research 2 – Grade 12 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM)

Module on Designing a Research Useful in Daily Life; Writes a Research Title

The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human body. It is often used to
depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may learn, create and
accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a
learner is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant
competencies and skills at your own pace and time. Your academic success lies in
your own hands!

What I Need to Know

“Do research. Feed your talent. Research not only wins the war on cliché, it’s
the key to victory over fear and its cousin, depression.” -Robert McKee

This module has been designed to demonstrate understanding of learners

about the designs a research which can be useful in daily life and writes a research
title

This This module will answers questions or even solutions to problem of

daily living. Better yet, research is as good as its finding answers or solves the real-
world phenomena.

Unlock your imagination and creativity. Open your eyes and look at the
things around you. Remember that you can change the world by your own simple
discovery.
At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:
a. locate the different sources of problems of research topic
b. enumerate criteria in selecting a research topic
c. design and present a good title for a research topic
What I Know

Pre- test: Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if it is wrong.

1. A good research topic should Not be relevant in reality.

2. Research is way of life that affects the society.
3. Research topics come from multiple sources.
4. Many topics that involved financial, economic, or other
numerical
data tend to fall under this category.
5. The topic is NOT refined until you can articulate the question
and fully
capture what you intended to investigate.
6. Personal experiences can be source of potential research topics.
7. Scholarly literature includes journal articles, books,
professional and
research organization.
8. Internet sources feature articles of topics beyond mainstream
print
and broadcast media.
9. Researchers can show evidences and other theories in some
selected topic
the researcher conducted.
10. Identifying a research topic is one of the first and vital steps in
the research
process.
11. In deciding on a research topic you have to consider how
useful will
it be to you as a researcher and the future researcher.
12. A research topic may stem from an idea, problem, or issue that
evokes your personal curiosity or interest.
13. It selecting a topic it should be general to specific.
14. The topic may be a real problem or issue that you assigned to
investigate.
15. The research question should be specific intended to be
answered
through research.

What’s In

It’s Record Time:

➢ Instruct them to think of at least five topics that they are interested in. Tell
them that it could be about the problems they have experienced as students,
observations, existing needs of the community.
➢ Then, have think of a specific area / detail about their chosen topic that they
would like to look into.

What’s New
Concept Discovery:

➢ Evaluate the topics they have chosen by using the following criteria:
 Is it something new or different from what has already been written
about?
 Is it original?
 Is it significant to the field of study or discipline?
 Is it of researcher’s interest and is the researcher with the topic?
 Is it a modest one for a beginner to be carried on with a limited period of
time?
 Is it clear, not ambigous?
 Is it specific, not general?
 Does it consider the training and personal qualifications of the
researcher?
 Does it consider the availability of data involved in the study and the
methods & techniques to be employed in gathering them?
 Doe it consider the availability of effective instruments for gathering data
and their treatments?
 Does it consider ethe financial capacity of the researcher to support the
project?
 Does it consider the time factor involved in the undertaking?
What is it?

The word “research” typically calls to mind mathematical formulas that

describe the ever expanding natural phenomena, complex theorems, liquid in test
tubes, endless, experiment to explain phenomena, human behavior, and the like.
But this discoveries and technical procedures have positive effects and
consequences for many aspects of our lives that are far more numerous and
important than what we imagine.

Research affects society and the lives of each one of us each day of our lives.
The way we perceived the world, the way we experience relationships with other,
the way society is organized and governed, and a lot more are influenced by the
ever expanding frontiers of knowledge. For different branches of knowledge or
disciplines, as well as corporation, government organizations, or NGO’s I search for
answers to phenomena, people do research.

Possible Research Topics Related to Daily Life

Age -old problem or poverty alleviation, unemployment, homelessness,
gender equally, population aging, child care, development of the youth, all forms of
violence, online or cybercrimes, the traffic situation, preservation and protection of
the environment, livelihood projects, entrepreneurial ventures, health care, social
security, and a lot more have been investigated from several angles, But seemingly,
authorities have come up with mere “band aid” solutions, like the government’s
Pantawid Pamilya program, for example. To alleviate the growing menace Metro
Manila traffic has caused on the people’s sanity, the economy, the industry, and
the like, experiments and more experiments are done each day in search for the
best solutions to these problems. The VAW (Violence Against Women) desk is a
product of extensive research. And so is the final stamp of approval on the senior
citizen’s increase in SSS pension.
Approaching problems from the interdisciplinary point of view and sharing
knowledge gathered in different areas has remained a big challenge to researchers.
The most innovative research is the kind that operates between different
disciplines. This gives rise to a new interactive model whereby practical research
raises new theoretical questions which give rise to further research.

Comprehension Check:

➢ What are the characteristics of an effective research?

What I Have Learned

MESSAGE THE TEACHER: Send a message to your teacher through FB

Messenger about the new things that you learned from this module. You may start
with any of the following phrases:

“I learned that...” “I got the chance to know about...” “I think...”

What I Can Do

Concept Application:

Develop at least three (3) possible research titles using the principles discussed
above. Use the writing techniques if you need to.
