Good afternoon team!

I am pleased to announce that on March 1, 2023 we will be hosting our first ever parent
orientated Q+A seminar. As you all know, our application prides itself on providing an
enjoyable viewing experience for users and creators of all ages. However, recently, younger
Tokers have been exposed to explicit content that is well beyond their means. Parents and
guardians are forbidding them from creating accounts with us, and unfortunately, our numbers
for this age demographic have been slowly declining. Rather than expecting the reality that our
platform is for older ages- we, in the executive office, have worked tirelessly with the security
and safety team to implement new safety guidelines and features.
Prior to this event we will be hosting a safety onboarding event to explain to you all about these
features. We will be adding tasks to the safety team that will identify new user’s ages.
The new team will be led by Eric Han, our Head of Safety here at TikTok. Under his
supervision, we will have 50 new members joining the team and ensuring kids safety on the
app. Their goals will be to create a way to identify new user’s ages and require submission of ID
verification. This information will be used in order to tailor user’s “For You Pages”
appropriately.
Further, we have hired an investigative team to take the necessary means of finding parents
and guardians of all children on the application. Some of those that have been identified will be
formally invited to attend the event.
Our event will be taking place at Culver City Hall in Culver City, California at 6:00 pm PST.
There will be drinks and food provided at the event, which will be located in the main
auditorium. We will be blocking off an area of the main parking lot for our attendees, which
you will see signs for.
For members not at the in-person event, they will have access to a livestream where they will
also be able to submit their questions and have them answered.
The Q and A session will be conducted after the new features are presented to the public.
Audience members will have the opportunity to talk to Han and ask him their specific
questions.
A recording of the event will be posted the following day on social media platforms, and our
website.
I am confident that with these new features, we will make sure TikTok is a safe environment for
users of all ages. This seminar will educate parents and guardians on our new ideas and
implementations. We are excited to share this with the public!
Prior to the event we would love to hear any sort of feedback you may have regarding the type
of information you would like to hear, and questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to
reach out to a member of our team if you have any inquiries.
