Testable Questions:

How do different substances effect plants health?

Hypotheses:
Plant A which will be the plant that is watered by water will be
healthier than the rest of the plants. Plant C which will be
watered by vinegar will be with the worst health.

Variables:
Independent variable: The substance used for each plant.
Dependent variable: The health of each plant throughout
the experiment.
Controlled variable: Type of plants, pot size, and amount of
liquid.
Materials:
 Water
 Pepsi
 Vinegar
 Orange juice (No pulp)
 Measuring cup
 4 plants (must be the same)

Procedures/Steps:
1. Give all the plants equal amount of sunlight.
2. Label each plant of what they will be watered with.
3. Measure each liquid to be a cup.
4. Water each plant accordingly.
5. Repeat this everyday once a day (I did it for a week)
6. Record your findings

Plants names Substance used

Plant A Water
Plant B Pepsi
Plant C Vinegar
Plant D Orange Juice (No Pulp)

Results:
Plant A was, of course the healthiest plant at the end of the
experiment. Its leaves were still green and not wilted. Plant B
actually lasted 3 days before it showed any sign of dyeing, but
after 3 days the plant started to show signs. The leaves turned
brown and started to wilt, until the leaves reached the bottom.
Plant C showed immediate results of dyeing. After the first day
the bottom of stem turned brown and the so did the leaves. After
the experiment the bottom of the stem was even more brown,
and the stem grown so weak that it started to hang down. Plant
D was very surprising. The soil wasn’t very absorbent to the
orange juice. After day 2 the soil has this weird layer of mold of
some kind, it only became thicker after each day. At the end of
experiment the plant also died.

Conclusion:
My hypothesis was correct. Plant A was the healthiest plant.
Plant C died first after the first day.

Abstract:
The summery of this project was find which substance was more
harmful for plants and which one will die first and be the
healthiest.
