power of King Philip II ( The king of Spain )
1565 - The Spanish colonization in the
Philippines.
Miguel Lopez De Legazpi - The first
Governor-General in the Philippines.
The Economy of Philippines During
Spanish Period - The Philippine economy
depended on the Galleon Trade which was
inaugurated in 1565 between Manila and
Acapulco in Mexico.

There are other programs that the Spaniards implemented that time which is polo y
Servicio, Encomienda and Bandala.
Polo y Servicio - Filipinos works in the shipyards forcibly. They cut and transport
timber to the coast and construction of the galleons, but they receive less than the
Spanish Sailors. These the reason why Pampanga revolt in 1660.
Encomienda - It is a policy of reward for performing crown servants of Spain in a
colony like the Philippines. It is taking over a portion of land and its population for
purposes of tribute, census, and workers.
Bandala - The provincial commodity quota. Filipinos are obligated to produce the
quota of goods but paid at a very low price.
Independence of the Philippines - The Philippine had the
independence after the Spanish-American war under the
treaty of Paris in 1898.
some changes happened in the Philippines by the
Spaniards are grouping the barangay into "pueblos" and
making the Datus as "gobernadorcillo". The pueblos
originally came from Spain culture known as "town"
while the gobernadorcillo who led the pueblos or the
town.

Intramuros
During three hundred years of Spanish colonialization, the
Philippine architecture was dominated by the Spanish
influences. During this period, Intramuros was built with its
walls, houses, churches and fortress.

Paco Park
Paco Park is a recreational garden and was once Manila’s
municipal cemetery built by the dominicans during the
Spanish colonial period.

Language
About one-third (4,000) of the words in Tagalog are of Spanish origin,
and around 6,000 words in other Filipino languages come from Spanish.
Considering the Philippines have cultural influences from China,
Malaysia, Japan, and the United States, the fact that about a third of
the words come from Spanish shows just how influential the Spanish
Philippines era was on the culture.
