“ART APPRECIATION”

ASSESSMENT 2: CONCEPTS OF BEAUTY

1. What is your concept of beauty?

It is all about the qualities of each person based on their physical appearance. But
for me my basis is you should always engage your confidence that you are beautiful no
matter what the texture of your skin, even if you have some scars and etc. you are amazing.
In short, it is important to follow your heart for what you want to engage in your physical
appearance and never even follow or listen to the judgment of other people, since all of us
are equally made by our Almighty God. That you have to evolve some encouragement and
strength that even if you have make-up or haven't make-up or other things that you put on
your face you are beautiful in a simple way with a significant confidence that other people
will never ruin. You are the one who will help yourself to engage the power of beauty that
you have.

2. Why do we all aspire to be young and beautiful?

We are inspired to become young and beautiful, because we want to become

presentable and have a good appearance when we are about to face other people. That if
we evolve this kind of action other people will not even judge us due to our self-confidence
that is being boosted. Especially not just our inner attitude, that other people admire but the
most essential for them is our physical appearance but not all the people have that kind of
thinking. Apparently most of us wanted to get some good comments based on our looks
since it is the one who will feel our heart to fulfill that we are beautiful in short this is also the
one of main reasons why we wanted to explode beauty and young when we are able to face
other people. In short, admiration of other people is the most powerful tool to always
become young and beautiful.

3. Explain the Darwinian Aesthetics Concept?

His concepts are all about the beauty of body forms, ideas, scents and natural
landscapes. That aesthetics is a combination of natural adaptations through the
environment even if it is internal or external. Based on his concepts about the theory of
beauty, it is based on natural selection if the person will be able to favor that beauty is
based on what we see or for what traits they are eventually exposed to in a positive way. It
can also lead to obsession with the people who want to be admired by other people and
also to the people who are finding beauty that is just based on physical appearance. That
the concept of beauty also signifies their interest that should be always appropriate in others
perspective.

a. Do you agree with Charles Darwin's Aesthetics Concept? Why?

For my opinion yes, since it is the real happenings to our surroundings. Especially to
the people who always wanted to become beautiful. That they eventually buy some stuff
that will explode their beauty in order to get some admiration from other people. That most
of us are revolting for what others prefer to our physical appearance. Also to the people who
are judging our looks, some of them are approving that physical appearance should be
evaluated rather than our traits. But basically there are also other people who are not
technically based on appearance but they must acquire for what traits other people engage
that for them it should be most admired. It can also lead to obsession especially to the
people that for them beauty should always evolve to catch up all the attention of others or
what you called to become attention seeker. For me, the most appropriate preference of
beauty is for what are their traits since being beautiful will fade after many long years but
our positive traits will explode eternally.

4. Explain the meaning of beauty with regards to the following concepts:

a. As a social construct

Beauty is about the ideas on how they evaluate their norms regarding to their culture
and different beliefs. Most of them judge the person based on what they see or in short to
their physical appearance. For example, you have thick eyebrows that are suited to the
perfect angle of your face. We also knew that there are some judgemental people that
engage in not good preferences due to your looks, but others are really just saying facts. It
will also make the confidence fade, but others make it as a motivation to become more
blooming or beautiful. In short, some people are just helping you to make your appearance
more presentable or appropriate. But it is important that even if others are not applicable to
your appearance as long as you have confidence for what you are it is a good presentation
that you really love yourself. But we also know that our society is always changing. That
even their standards to the different appearance of each person are technically changed
due to what are the trends nowadays.

b. As biological adoption

It is not all based on our beauty but also due to what is evolution to our surroundings.
It can eventually change the basis for what our environment is engaging in. For example, if
it is cold or hot in our country it will simply change our skin color especially in summer time.
Facial attractiveness also acquired in the biology responses about beauty like their sexual
dimorphism and symmetry or physical attractiveness. For example, if you are female then
most of the male people are the ones who will appreciate your beauty or appeals.

c. Associated with morality

Moral beauty is all about what traits are we going to engage in our society and it is
not just based on what physical appearance are we going to evaluate. In short, your attitude
or behavior is also important to evaluate in a positive way. Because other people are
attracted to your kindness, honesty etc. For example, you are really attractive based on
your looks, that your nose is pointed, your skin is white and etc. but you haven't had a good
presentation of behavior. That you don't even know how to socialize with other people. In
this segment it will also lead to making your appearance in a negative way.

d. As a sign of empowerment

It is all about appreciating what we are and boosting our confidence that will drive us
to make our worth increased. In short, self-worth is connected to our confidence. That the
most powerful tool to make you feel beautiful is about accepting what flows you have and it
will empower you to make your day always become wonderful. Also, you have your own
choice to become simple with or without make-up. As long as you always divert your
confidence it will become more attractive to other people. It is really hard to evaluate, since
not all of us can really divert our self-worth due to the judgemental person.

e. As a cultural violence

When we talk about beauty that drives our culture some of the people are not able to
believe that you can be beautiful due to the make-up for the female. While for the male
others can't even need to use that to attract other people. In short, feminism are acquired to
this system that we wanted to have some equal treatment also based on our appearance.
For example, as women we need to always be presentable and beautiful, while the men
don't need to make an effort to be handsome. In short, there is some violence that they are
able to make higher standards based on the looks of the women rather than on the men's
appearance.

5. What factors affect our perceptions of beauty? (Enumerate a minimum of 5 factors

and explain).

● Ingrained Evolutionary Factors - that the essence and preference of beauty are
signified to the person who is with you like your family, community and friends. That
they eventually engage their different opinions and perspectives within to what they
are able to classified. In short it is diverting within your relationship to the people and
environment who are near from you. Sometimes you are able to acknowledge their
different opinions and beliefs but it depends for what situation it is.

● Media Influences - it definitely exposes some things that even if it is impossible due
to our technology nowadays, they are able to evaluate it to become possible. Since it
influences people's perceptions through television, radios, etc. That the presentation
of some models that will be exposed to the billboards are able to edit their beauty.
For example, to make them slim, more blooming, etc. The concept also of
communication skills in this segment within the public are delivering all the message
and information with the help of our new technologies nowadays like in social media
platforms.

● Cultural beliefs - their perception in beauty is you should be able to engage and
follow all of your beliefs in your organization. For example, you believe that the
clothes shouldn't become revealed clothes. In short, you should always become
presentable thru the clothes that you are able to wear.

● Individual Personalities - all of us have different preferences about beauty. For

example, they are able to see the beauty of the person if they evaluate good
personality, popularity like an artist, gaining success thru financial and it can also
being smart or intelligent. That it shows that we have a different vision when it comes
to seeing the real beauty of the person.

● Beauty is in the mind of the beholder - that it is the representation for what
peripheral standard that we are engaging to say that the person is evaluating
beauties. Others evaluate to their minds that the essence of beauty is based on face
perception, physical appearance and also on attractive people.

6. Explain Cultural Relativism in Aesthetics.

It is all about the preferences in beauty that are basically based on the different
cultures of each individual, that it is the showcase that not all the people stick to one
perspective within the evaluation of what is the true definition of beauty in our world. It is
also the engagement that even the artwork has a different meaning of beauty that also
corresponds to us as a human. But the most important thing in this segment is that you
should obey or respect the different perceptions of each individual within the concept of
beauty, since we have a right to evaluate what we see and what we feel. To conclude we
shouldn't judge the standards of each individual through the essence of beauty. Especially
we all have a different human behavior for what we are able to enhance within our different
experiences.
