I feel that children will thrive in an environment where they have resources to learn and

have all of their needs met. In a classroom it is proven that children do better when their needs

are met versus when their needs aren’t met. Toddlers are at an age where they are absorbing a lot

of information that is put into their world. I personally feel that children can do the same in full

time versus part time depending on how the parents interact with the children when they are

home. I do feel that child care centers and in-home centers offer socialization which allows

children to be around others their age. Toddlers are at a stage where they are beginning to make

friendships based on those that are around them regardless of the age. Peer interaction is

important for children to learn since they learn from each other as much as they learn from an

adult. Having an adult guide a classroom in a center, an in-home child care or a close family

member is going to help shape that child’s mind. When thinking about who is going to take care

of your toddler some families have multiple options and some don’t. I feel that the parents have

to make the best choice for their child that can work with their work schedule. Home based

daycares offer flexibility and lower rates typically which could be beneficial to a single parent

that works odd hours. A child care center offers stability and structure for all types of parents.

Meeting the needs of the family while still educating the toddler is a hard job to do yet there are

people that do this daily. Curriculum is something that you typically find in child care centers

and in a few home daycares. I feel that curriculum is very important in early childhood for the

children to have teachers that are educated or working towards an education to understand and

have current knowledge of what early childhood tactics work. Having a curriculum gives

teachers a base of knowledge to teach children in their care but also allows teachers to venture

out and look for more resources if they are noticing that their current curriculum is outdated and

no longer developmentally appropriate.
