The toy which I selected for donation was a Stuffed Penguin from Miniso. Moreover, the books
that I have donated consisted of TMNJ (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Coloring and reading
book, Star Wars (Revenge of the Jedi) Comic/Activity book, Winning Words- Oxford Treetops,
Hard Work -Oxford Treetops, Pirates -Oxford Treetops, Our Planet -Picture Pocket Edition. The
stuffed toy was a hand me down toy, as it belonged to my smaller sister who used to play with it
in her childhood, while some of the books which I had donated were my own that I had studied
at primary level and the others books I had purchased from the Liberty Books Store which
consists of Star Wars and TMNJ (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). All of these items were very
easy to acquire and when I donated them, I felt a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. I
donated the stuffed penguin due to the fact that animal soft toys provide a sense of comfort to
youngster to develop their social skills. Stuffed animal toys can also help them immerse in
pretend play such as pretending to talk with mom or dad or pretending to play with a sibling and
friends. This can act as a foundation for strengthening their social skills. The books I selected
were diverse in content two of them comprised of fictional superhero stories that would help
children bolster their confidence and turn them into reluctant readers, while the other four are
educational books for primary level, such as the book hard work, winning words, our planets
would make the children be aware of the surrounding and particularly the society they live in.
The book winning words will help them understand the social norms in the society better and
increase their bank of words. If I had to give this donation drive a name, I would probably call it

the Give4good Donation Drive. Having the power to improve the lives of others and work for
their betterment, to me and the others is none less than a privilege, which comes with its own
sense of obligation. Acting on this powerful feeling of responsibility to care for the less
privileged in the society is a great way to reinforce my own personal values and feel like I am
living in a way that is true to my own ethical beliefs. I believe that there are always people out
there in need of help and to be there for them and facilitate them in the most efficient manner
is the true meaning of humanity and a generous ethical society. The state we are living in can be
term as a state based on the principles of Locke’s theory that suggests the creation of an
institute (government) which would be an impartial power capable of arbitrating disputes and
redressing injuries of the general public. It is a system where property right in land gives the
owner of the land the right to control access to that land and to use that land in any way that
does not violate the law of nature or civil constitutional laws, where the state has the right to
intervene and enforce law within a certain area. Locke’s theory believes the rights to life, liberty,
and property are natural rights that precede the establishment of a civil society. My donation
drive and approach to fulfilling CSR would vary a lot for the Lockean and Hobbesian society.
Starting off with the Hobbesian society which Thomas Hobbs believed that the state of Nature
was a state of war, essentially a purely anarchic dog-eat-dog society where people struggle over
limited power and resources, so carrying out a donation drive would be very difficult in a society
based on Hobbesian principles as most people would not be interested donating or helping the
helpless but rather grabbing and looting everything they can as the concept of business ethics
would be very less relevant over there, ultimately it would be a society where no property right
of civil right of individuals are present the strong will do what they can, and the weak will suffer
what they must. While in a society based on lockesian principles there would be a sense of
harmony and law which every individual has to abide by, thus here the concept of personal and
business ethics would be of great importance so I would need to keep my donation drive as
transparent as I can while also reflecting a sense of harmony and responsibility that would
engage more of the people to donate. If not, this social responsibility project I would opt for a
tree plantation drive during this Covid-19 period. Since Karachi’s average temperature during
the summer’s accounts for a highest of 42°C and is expected to increase every year. This severe
problem that causes massive heatwaves due to which people get ill and die which can be
minimized by tree plantation in Karachi’s different areas. During the covid-19 when the streets
and roads are empty, I would have taken this great initiative of “Two for One” which generally
means that every individual has to plant two trees each in their respective area and when this
chain continues there will be a huge plantation thus minimizing the problem of heatwaves in our
city while making our atmosphere eco-friendlier with clean air.
