1.0 INTRODUCTION
The fundamental of marketing, MKT243 is a course where we learn about marketing and
many more such as, promotion and prices. Throughout this whole semester, we hope that
we can gain as much information and knowledge regarding the fundamental of marketing. In
order to gain the knowledge, we have done a group assignment. This group assignment
helps us to understand more about:

have chosen to perform the assignment. This express ironing innovated for all of the gender

more convenient. Besides, we hope that the information gained later can be apply and

and consecutive activities from our day to day lives like ironing clothes and dressing up.

suitable for both steam and normal iron. The price is very affordable.
Adjustable ironing board that comes with unique features for ironing sleeves trousers, collars
and cuff. Simple ironing but the price is quite expensive.

Our Express Ironing Board focusing on customer wants and needs so that the organization
Space-saving is our top priority. Being super convenience to the consumer is our promises.
Therefore, we produce a space-saving and super convenience product that we believe can
make your life way easier. Using high quality materials that undergo high technology
process, we believe our product could change your life. Not only that, our product are also
perceived to be very high quality with innovative features and great performance.
Consumers are also entitled and eligible to choose the best types that suit their taste or can
go for both as we produce both product with difference specialty.
Our product comes with two different designs that holds different specialty. We named it with
two different names that suit with them. One is foldable wall and the another one is super
convenience.
Foldable wall multi-purpose iron board. This iron board is designed to be stick to the wall.
For this design, we focus more on space-
ordinary iron board. Instead, consumer can easily drag at the corner of the board and can
easily start ironing their clothes. Once consumers done ironing their clothes, consumers just
need to push back the board. They can use the mirror at the in front on daily basis.
Super convenience multi-purpose iron board. This board is designed with tyres so that it can
be easily moved around. It also can be fold into smallest size so that consumers can easily
bring it while travelling. It comes with variety of colours that can attract consumers to spend
money on them. It is also space-saving as consumers can easily fold it when they did not
use it.
This multi-purpose iron board is recognized as shopping products. It is one of the item that
consumers purchase less frequently. Consumers tend to compare the product with available
alternatives in the market. However, we still believe that we are the best choice for iron
board. With very unique features and technology, we promise consumers would not regret
spending their time, plan and efforts to take the final decision by choosing us.

be used by all gender but not every stages of age can use this product.It might not be
suitable for children due to the safety issue. Other than that,our company is also focusing on
people who have a busy lifestyle,people who prefer multifunctional product to make their
daily chores easier and people who wants to save space for their room. For
example,housewives,students and so on.By using our product,they can save space for their
room and save their budget to buy two items as we combined mirror and ironning board in
one thing.
Benefit segmentation
Benefit segmentation is the process of grouping customers into market segments according
to the benefits they seek from the product.our company focuses on customer wants and
s expectation.Our product is designed to fulfill our
buying our multifunctional ironing board. For our product,they can use our board to iron the
clothes and on the other side,they can also use as mirror when they flip the board.This will
save their space and cost compared to if they buy ironing board and mirror separately.
Concentrated targeting
Concentrated strategy is a strategy used to select one segment of a market for targetting
marketing efforts. Our company, Express Ironing Company targeting people who need to
save space and prefer multifunctional furniture for their daily use. We can concentrate on
understanding the needs, motives and satisfaction of our customer. After we determine the
expectation and demand of our customers, we concentrate to develop a highly specialized
product to satisfy their needs and wants. As we specifically focus on the market segment, it

A product attribute is a specific feature or benefit of the product. Positioning in this way
focuses on one or two benefits, relative to the competitive
offerings.Our company ensure the design and features of our product satisfy our target
market.As we focus on product feature and customer benefits,we designed our product
spesifically according to our idea on how to save space and cost by combining the mirror
and ironing board.We develop our product to be different and unique from ordinary ironing
board.This will increase the demand of our product in the market as we focus on the best
feature and benefit that we can offer to the customers.By using our best features as our

Use or application
We position our product with stressing use or applications to our costumer as we introduced
our product and advertise in market through many channels such as television and online
platform.In order to attract the customers and to make our product recognizable, we decided
to advertise our product in television to gain their trust on our product.We also advertise in
social media such as Instagram and Facebook since social media is a biggest platform to
connect with people around the world.plus,We also advertise our product in online shopping
platform as people nowadays prefer to buy things online rather than go outside because it is
more convenient and save their time.
Direct channel
Our company, Express Ironing Company is focus on direct channel selling to our customers.
We are operate almost everyday to make sure our customers could visit our store.
Therefore, customers who visit our store will know further about our mirror iron board
product since in the store there are staffs that can give personal service to their customers.
This can be the platform or medium of communication between staffs and potential buyers.
Meanwhile, using direct channel our company also provide online shopping for customers
who are interested with our product. They can directly buy the product through our website
or others application such as Lazada and Shopee. A part from that, our company will
responsible to make sure the product are safely arrived to our customers. By doing direct
channel, our company can control the price, marketing and promotion toward our product
because we are interact directly with our customers and can get the feedback of product
directly so that our company can improve our promotional service and others elements of
customers experience.
Retailer channel
Express Ironing Company also provide our product to the retailers stores. After producing
the mirror ironing board and completely in good condition, we will sell the product to the
retailers in a lower price than the market price since the retailers are pick up the product at
our company. The retailer will sell the product to the customers at their own stores or kiosk.
In the retailers store, they provide tremendous contact efficiency by creating one location
where there are many products can be purchased. By having retailer channel, our company
can easily promote our product brand as well as increasing our sales.
Since Express Ironing Company produce mirror ironing board, it is the special product for
people since usually the product are sold separately in the market. Thus our company are
selling the product in selective distribution level. The product can only be find in selected
intermediaries in each market. Since the mirror ironing board is a special product, it not
available in every market place and company have selected a few market and retailer stores
or outlets in order to sell the product around Malaysian. In Selangor, we are selected a
several market area that has a great potential to thrive in selling our product. It same goes to
the others area outside Selangor. Its sell the product to the customers in the available
the premium feel of our product brand. Moreover, our company also want to reduce the
competition faced to a certain extent thus our company also make an agreement with some
of the retailers to limit the number of competing brands and not to stock multiple competing
brand in their store. This is a good alternative for our product brand and company to reduce
competition within the store.
5.3 Retailing
Department store
The department store carries a wide variety of shopping and specialty goods and it will
attract a lot of people to visit the department store. In the department are many different of
stores selling different types of product. Express Ironing Company also open a store in the
department store since purchase are made within each department. We are responsible to
promote our own product and personal serve for our customers in the department store.
Since department store are large, we could see the potential of our product to be recognise
in the market as people will visit the department to buy their needs and wants. We are open
our store at the Aeon mall Kelantan since the Aeon mall is the most large department store
in Kelantan and it is the most visited place for Kelantanese. Our store can make decoration,
renovation, advertising and others activities as long as it does not cross over the agreement
bound between our store and the central department store. Central management of
department store still responsible for overall advertising program, store expansion and
others activities.
Specialty store
Express Ironing Company also open specialty stores in certain area to show that our mirror
ironing board is a special product. We are selling mirror ironing board with different design
and colours to attract customers in buying our product. Staff at the specialty store already
trained by our company to be able to provide our customers with information on the models
and the details of specific feature on our mirror ironing board. Since our company have a
specialty store with the trained staffs, we are provide professional service and repair for our
customers who bought the mirror ironing board with us. This can be a great deal between
action in assured that the repairs are being done
properly. The location of our specialty store are in the city area since people will go to the
city for buying their needs everyday.
5.3.2 Non store retailing
Electronic retailing
Electronic retailing is used in selling our product which is mirror iron board. We are already
doing our research on selecting the best alternative in promoting and introducing our new
product to the people. We are decided to use shop at home television network and online
retailing. Express Ironing Company can see the great potential on home shopping via
television since nowadays people are more interested to make a purchase activities through
network and we know most of the people in Malaysian has a television in their house.
Customers can make an order to purchase the mirror ironing board through phone call. Our
company focused on selling our product on television programming such as CJ WOW SHOP
and GO SHOP where by the mirror ironin
placed by the viewers directly. Online retailing also one of the alternative used by our
company in generate sales. It allows the consumers to buy our mirror ironing board directly
from us over the internet using a web browser or mobile app. Customers can shop online
using computers, smartphone, tablet and others. We use online marketplaces likes Lazada
and Shopee to set up our online shop and sell the product within minutes. In the online shop,
we already s
about the product specifications, features and prices. Customers also feel much more
easier to make a payment via access to the Internet using valid method of payment such as
a credit card, debit card or a service such as mobile payment ,PayPal or E Wallet. This can
be one of the way Express Ironing Company expand the business of mirror ironing product
to the people.
6.0 PROMOTION
For advertise, the suitable platform to promote our mirror ironing product is by using
television and internet. As nowadays we could see the advancement of technology and
the same goes with people who are more to modern lifestyle. We can communicate with
to a large number of people at one time.
For public relation, we chose to use internet web sites and product publicity. By using
public relation as our promotion strategies, we could identify which areas are interested
in buying our product. It is also to educate people how important and the benefits of our
product in their daily routine. At the same time, it is can build our positive image and
reputation of Express Ironing Company.
For sales promotion, Express Ironing Company use online sales promotion as the tools
in promoting mirror ironing board to people. This one of the short term way for our
company to encourage customers in immediately demand for the product. The cost of
sales promotion also cheaper than advertising cost, which our company can lower the
cost of marketing.
6.1 Advertising
Express Ironing Company use television in advertising promotion to increase our sales.
We are collaborating with CJ Wow Shop Channel and GO Shop Channel as this two
channel are the famous channel among viewers. The duration for advertise our product
Internet also one of the advertising promotion use by our company. As our company
know that most of people is more to online shopping because it can save our time and
no need for driver through the shop. Internet is widely used by people, thus it is good
chance for us to promote our product through our website which is
Expressironing.com.my, Instagram and Facebook which is Express Ironing. People who
are interested to buy our product can directly order via their phone and visit our website,
Instagram or Facebook.
6.3 Public relations
Public relations are very important to our company to promote and reach our target
customers. Public relations allow an entity and the public to adapt to each other
collectively. The main purpose of public relations is to share awareness or positioning of
the organization with its audiences.
Express Ironing Company use internet web sites as our major tool in promoting our
product. We have our own websites that shows catalogues and more details about our
product. Most people will research a company online shop before they shop in-store or
buying online. We ensure our website is attractive, optimized and user-friendly. Our
customers can choose colour of the product based on their preferences. We also provide
proactive live chat support to assist our customers in buying process.
Product publicity is also one of the major tools that we used in order to promote our
product. We cooperate with Go Shop and CJ Wow Shop, famous television shows which
specifically sell products and people can directly buy during the show through their
phones or websites. By using this platform, we can reach wide and diverse audiences
since majority of people nowadays watch television and prefer to buy things online.
Express Ironing Company use online sales promotion as our major tool of sales
promotion. Recently, online sales promotion has expanded dramatically since people
nowadays tend to shop online. We decided to make online sales promotion because it
have proved effective and cost-efficient. It is also generate response rates three to five
times higher than off-line promotions. Usually, we held online sales promotion during
year end sale and eid celebration to attract customers to buy our product. We offer free
shipping with purchases or discounts to the customers.
7.0 PRICING
For our company, our objective type is profit oriented. We choose this type of pricing
objective because our business aims to maximize profit per unit relative to cost of goods
sold and other operating cost. We also aim to maximize our overall profit by setting a price
that we believe competitive enough to increase the overall numbers of units sold.
Since our product is a new technology product, we choose two primary types of pricing
strategies which are price skimming and penetration pricing.
Price skimming.
Price skimming is the strategy of charging highest possible price for a product during
introduction stage of its life cycle. We would skim the cream off the market in order to help
recover the cost spent for R&D quickly. Not only that, skimming policy may hold down
demand for the product. This is really helpful for us as our company only produce limited
number of products during the introduction stage.
Penetration pricing.
Penetration pricing is the strategy of setting a low price for a new product. The main purpose
we use this type of pricing strategy is to build market share for the product in a short time.
The building of a large market share in a short time helps to discourage our competitors from
entering the market.
8.0 CONCLUSION
After going through the whole process to work on this assignment, we have achieved

able to understand and gain so much knowledge of MKT243, through this assignment.
These kind of knowledge will not just stop after we were done with this assignment but, it will
grow with us till another part of learning or even when we are working in the future. We also
can apply certain knowledge in our everyday life.
LIMITATIONS
Time
the whole world. The Corona virus has changed the way classes take part where we
go through online direct learning (ODL) and same goes for everything. People need
to work, study, shop through online platforms. This will reduce the social meeting in
an open place such at the work places, schools and universities. As a university
student which we need to discuss any group assignments, we have also limitation of
our time to make sure all of the group members are available to discuss on the work.
This is because, at home, we are the children and the students, we need to manage
our time carefully to study after the class ended and also to run the home errands.
But we believed that, as a student we have to focus on what is more important for
ourselves and manage everything with a thoughtful mind. Also Alhamdulillah our
group manage to perform discussion in completing assignment.

LEARNING EXPERIENCE
From this assignment, there is a lot of things that we could experience. From the start
to the end of this assignment we have gained so much information, we have learned how to
manage our time and we have learnt how making a group work done perfectly. Those
information, including, the consumer, making decision, how is the market segmentation
work, the process of developing and managing the product and marketing channels.
We are very grateful, although we are going through online direct learning which we
obviously could not see each other, but still get the chance to discuss each topic arise in
preparing this assignment. Even though everyone has their own time at home which limits
us to discuss, but we manage to make sure that everything will be done according to the
time given and not prepare the assignment too late. Thus, all of the group members doing
their best to connect with each other and work together to complete the assignment.
This experience also thanks to our lecturer because without her guides and sources of
information, we will not be able to prepare this assignment. This experience surely be
applied in our everyday life and also in our work environment in the future.

We will make sure that our product is customer-friendly and also safe and
comfortable to use for all ages.
